a nice hotel in "New Cadiz" near the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are very clean(perhaps a bit "spartan") The double glazing is not too effective so traffic noise can be load even on the 5th floor. Try the top floor to be further from the traffic

This was a great find in Cadiz. All the staff were really helpful, made a special effort with everything we asked for. Great value for money , the locals use the bar and Restaurant , very close to the Beach. 3.50 Euro cab ride to shops. ( we are lazy ) What more could you want ! Value for money. Loved it.

The hotel is conveniently located close to the beach and several good restaurants and bars. Staff is attentive, decor was modern and the room was spacious and clean. Comfortable bed, good quality linen and well stocked bathroom are other strong positive selling points. The touch of having a vapor iron on the closet was super handy and practical. They have a nice bar where to take drinks of coffee inside or outside and to close it off, tasty and plentiful breakfast at a fair price. Highly recommend!

First of all, I would like to say that on our first visit to this hotel in 2019 everything was correct, as in the other Barceló where I have stayed with my family.
Barceló V Centenario, Barceló Nervión, Barceló Aranjuez, Barceló Isla Cristina, and twice in Barceló Cádiz, now western Cádiz.
I have always felt very comfortable and well taken care of, but this is not how I felt on my second visit to Occidental Cadiz. We booked a triple room with shower and bidet, well, on arrival at the hotel the room was rather small for two beds and a very uncomfortable extra and there was no bidet, only a very slippery shower, the towels were very worn and even some broken, the sheets did not change them for us throughout the stay and we stayed 6 nights. One day while in the old town of Cadiz we visited the restaurant page of the hotel and there was honeyed rice and said, let's go eat at the hotel. Well, when we arrived, there was no honeyed rice and we could not eat for lack of table, everything was reserved exclusively for a group that had an event and were not even staying and a second shift for another group and we ended up eating in San Fernando.
The fact of being housed three people and not being able to eat for lack of table, which there was because it was reserved 100% for two events of people not housed in the hotel, that is unheard of. There were only three people and Mrs Maitre had no left hand and let us go.

Hotel Occidental Cadiz is a little off the historic center, train and bus station, but it is a ten minutes ride on the city bus, which goes in front of the hotel and did cost 0,35euros per ticket when we were there (50% off the standard rate in low season). Occidental Cadiz is a modern hotel with adequate amenities for comfort and convenience. We could see the ocean from our room on the eight floor. We recommend the place for a short stay. It was our first visit to Cadiz and probably not our last.

My husband and I smelled the cheap , non bacteria cleaner when we walked into the hotel lobby. Our room smelled and we could not stay in it until we opened the windows for hours. They had a to get ur. We keys 3 times in our 3 day stay, only one key worked. The hotel room was clean , i believe that the sheets were not changed while we were there.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry that you did not like the smell of the lobby at your arrival. We use a special air freshener designed for Occidental Hotels and it normally has good critics from our guests. Maybe you arrived at the moment that the lobby floor was being cleaned and there was a different cleaner being used. Our staff is always willing to help with any issues, in case we had known about the smell in your room we would have been glad to change to another room meanwhile we solve this matter. We want to apologise if the keys where not working ok during your stay, I expect that our maintenance staff was able to resolve this as soon as possible. The sheets in every room are normally changed every two days. Anyway we will check this with our housekeeping department to check if there could have been an unfortunately mistake. We are grateful for feedback from our recent guests as this can highlight areas for improvement. We are sincerely sorry for this regrettable incident, this is not a problem I have been notified of but will most definitely be looking into immediately. Goof morning and thank you for your question. The hotel is only 15 monutestwalking from the old town,where you can find the historical heritage, and 5 minutes if you go by bus.
