This particular MO has a unique entrance with exquisite paintings on the wall. The reception take their time in welcoming you and explaining what’s necessary.
The location is amazing and the rooms a great size and very clean. We booked a room with a terrace which was (unfortunately) meant for handicapped people. This sort of put a damper on the bathroom ambiance but the space we had was therefor just amazing. The handicapped person would not be able to access the terrace however which didn’t make much sense to me.
The rooftop bar is just spectacular and the prices for the drinks reasonable.
Al in all great experience
The staff at reception and at breakfast (very good, everything organic, plenty of choice but not overloaded, finally no pre-mixed muesli) were super nice. The mattresses were a bit saggy. But here too, our comment was not dismissed but received in a friendly manner! We would be happy to come back!
The hotel has an unbeatable location as everything is within walking distance: to give you an idea, the breathtaking Nikolaikirche is just in front of the reception, if you turn the corner you are on the pedestrian and busy Grimmaische Straße and in 5 minutes you can reach the Hauptbahnhof too.
Room is larger than the ones of other Motel One hotels but still basic (little or no furniture at all; maybe just a safe and a mini-fridge would be appreciated).
The bathroom is small too, but the shower works very good.
Reception is cozy but there is a nice larger lounge at the 1st floor.
WiFi works properly all around the property.
Can't say anything about the breakfast as we were on a only-bed treatment.
If you are fully aware of what you are reserving when staying at a Motel One (an affordable design hotel, with essential services), you can only give a 5 stars rating. They never disappoint you.
I only wish they added an electric kettle to the room along with cups and tea / coffee sachets. Though the coffee shops are just next to the hotel - it is difficult for me to boot up for the day without a cup of tea first thing in the morning.
Hotel offers a simple continental breakfast That may not fulfill everybodies requirements.
