We walked from the train station in under ten minutes. Google maps wasn't the best but we got there via a rather circuitous route. Receptionist was very helpful and 2/3 of us could check in early- always welcome. Rooms were pretty small and basic but for two nights perfectly adequate as was my wifi and it was handy to have a fridge to stash the drinks we bought in. I slept pretty well as it was a quiet room. Loads of shops and coffee bars/ restaurants nearby and really handy for the zoo and tram. The area felt safe and for a cheap break if the price is right we may stay here again. Breakfast was fine and warm gluten free bread was made available for a friend upon request.

Nice, clean and modern hotel in a safe, central area of the city, at walking distance from the old town and central station. All the amenities everywhere, not big, but very well organized and pleasant. The room was big enough and with everything you need: tea and coffee facilities, good and functional storage space, couch , spotlessly clean, good quality products in the bathroom, well maintained furniture, safe, fridge, green options for helping nature. Breakfast was very good and tasty with fresh and good quality cold and savoury products, a large choice and never missing anything. Very nice and efficient staff, quiet and comfortable everywhere. I definitely recommend this hotel.

We found everything at the hotel to be top notch. The rooms were the right size with comfortable beds. Nice shower and double sink in the bathroom a plus. The breakfast buffet provided a fine variety of good quality food. Appreciated the vegetarian/vegan options though did not need them. Located a short walk from the train station, center city and the zoo, the hotel provides a perfect place from which to visit Leipzig.

Booked this hotel through a 3rd party for a concert. Was unable to attend the concert and tried to cancel the hotel but the hotel want me to pay the full price for the 2 nights. Thats nearly €300. I am 99.9% sure that when I booked there was free cancelation and they have changed their policy. They could resell the hotel 10 times the night of the concert.
Double check your booking with this shower of chancers!!

Dear guest, please explain the situation clearly. You had a rate that could not be canceled free of charge. You made this decision on your own. You could also have booked the expensive Flexible Rate. You could also have canceled free of charge. It's a shame that you're blaming us for your mistake. Kind regards - Your Art Team Leipzig

We stayed one night in Sept. It was exactly what we needed. The room and bathroom were clean and modern. The pillows could have been a little firmer but Germany is notorious for soft pillows.

There was confusion about parking which we had pre-booked so we ended up parking at the Zoo which was very close anyway.

The location was great and very easy to drive to and to walk to/from the city.

Would stay here again.

Just the worst. Got to hotel just after 10pm: no-one there, hotel locked up. Phoned number on plaque outside but they were rude and totally unhelpful. Had to find another hotel, with young child in tow. Complained after I returned home. Hotel then lied about having sent someone to meet us, and rejected the complaint. A total disgrace and I will never visit again.

The hotel has no swimming pool and spa as on description on the Agoda. The room was very small, not like on the photo.
Breakfast was ok, but 30 min. before finish was lack of meal and nobody added that. After 15 min. after finish time of the breakfast staff enforced us go out. We had to get our coffe to go.
That was disgusting.

There are many aspects to be mentioned about this very short stay at Mercure Art Leipzig but the most important point is that the hotel itself is not bad and its issues are more behavioural than structural, as many reviews here state very clearl
No 10min away from the train station, no 5min away from the zoo and also very close to downtown and the main attractions, the hotel's privileged location is indeed its best asset!
Also, the modern half of the hotel is indeed very appealing and functional, starting at the lobby already, where water and cookies await guests any time, a tradition of the city of Leipzig!
The privilege room is rather small, not to say tiny, suitable for couples but not for workmates, for example. Standard rooms are 30% larger and it may be wiser ro refuse the upgrade, if space plays a more vital role for you.
The room is, however, quite cosy despite being 'Ibis-sized' and pretty much stylish. The minibar is always empty and must be filled by guests purchasing at reception or elsewhere. The working table is narrow, the power outlets are underneath instead of being at eye-sight. Communication and information are provided by means of a tablet, which works as a telephone, when it does work... One can chat with the reception instead of calling them, interesting!
Breakfast rooms is light and welcoming, also narrow and maybe cramped - I wouldn't like to be there when the hotel is really full! You won't really miss anything at breakfast, every items is presented in a cute minimalist form, which would suit a boutique hotel perfectly, very good!
Nonetheless, the stay didn't start very well at all and Ms Stolz, the assistant manager, was called to intervene, so it wouldn't turn disastrous!
It is inexcusable that the unit was not ready for Le Club Platinum guest, who should have been welcomed properly and have an upgraded room ready as of 10am - the availability is indeed a factor, but there were rooms of a higher standard available online, so no excuse other than lack of preparation. Other Platinum guests here complain about not feeling welcomed or treated 'specially', so it is not only an impression but a fact!
Reception must be more pro-active and really friendly, they are the face of the hotel and one major mistake may not be fixed for the rest of the stay! I was 'welcomed' almost rudely and no attempt was made voluntarily to change the situation.
Don't expect as a Gold or a Platinum member any major recognition other Mercures in the world offer you gladly, not even a bottle of water or the handwritten welcoming letter that MUST be placed in the room; let alone the 'treat' from the kitchen or alike, all one gets is a cheap little bag with nuts...
Last but not least and maybe the most relevant of all, the way the general manager and head of reception choose to reply here to guests is beyond acceptable and is borderline rude or disrespectful! Regardless of the complaint the guest has, being he/she right or wrong about it, the hotel cannot use such wording and must present itself humble enough, accept the comments or facts, not only defend itself and accuse the guest, it's absurd! Humbleness for those who work with hospitality if perhaps personal feature number one, and the responses here seem annoying arrogant, to say the very least!
I was glad Mr Scholz popped by, only after my request to talk to a superior and unfortunately never posed by the hotel itself, as it should have been towards a Platinum guest, for her manners and courtesy smoothened the stay completely. Let's hope the others learn with her how to deal with clients in written form at least!
It wasn't in anyway a disappointing stay per se and I strongly recommend the hotel, maybe coming back soon for a longer stay. Gold and Platinum members should, however, expect no special treatment there, unlike in the vast majority of Mercure hotels in the world. There is indeed room for improvement and I truly hope it comes, or else the risk of Mr Scholz having to be there 24/7 to mild up situations caused by the hotel itself becomes far too high!

Thank you very much for your fair assessment, Ms. Scholz thanks you for the nice words and our director has changed the ideas for your suggestions and immediately changed the treatments for our Le Club members. We take every honest and fair criticism very seriously. It's a pity that you do not like our honest words, but we get a lot of praise and you can immediately experience the changes on your next stay. Mrs. Scholz had already informed you that the availability of the rooms at such an early time depends on the departure of the guests and the online availability refers to the arrival time from 15.00 clock. Already we look forward to your next stay, let the treatment surprise you. Best regards, Your Mercure Art Team

As a platinum AccorClub member I always try to choose hotels that participate in the program. However, in this case the stay as very disappointing. No upgrade was offered even though the hotel was almost empty. The room I got, supposedly a privilege room, was tiny, and I have doubts whether this was a privilege room at all. Even though I had written about this beforehand and requested this a few times during the stay, points were credited for just one room even though I had booked two. When I contacted the hotel afterwards, I was told they could not do anything but other hotels miraculously manage to change this if the staff want to actually do something! A major concern is also the front desk staff which seems to be blatantly unqualified.

Dear Miroslaw, as a platinum member you know that a free upgrade is only possible while a higher category is available. We were fully booked and cannot steal other guests the room they pay for. How can you know if you were fully booked. As you could at the pictures when you made your booking you booked our smallest rooms we offer but quiet rooms. Since they have already been awarded points, according to the Accor system we are not able to access them again. With best Regards Your Mercure Art Team
