Alternative hotel style, bar is great at evening. Unfortunately some mishaps: terrible WiFi , even on high speed. Pillows on beds are terrible, it’s the concept of the hotel. Very Spartan! No coffee in the rooms. No safe. Breakfast is very crowded the whole morning, looks more like the university canteen. Televisions in the rooms are very old and used, the image is terrible. Expensive hotel for what it is.

A hotel with a convenient location and underground garages.

At the time of our stay, there was a big conference at the hotel, so the traffic was quite spontaneous. It was impossible to find a table for dinner and evening sitting and also for breakfast. But after a few minutes of waiting, it was done.

The hotel lobby has billiards, darts and slot machines. The children enjoyed it in the evening as a reward for walking around the city all day.

It’s a great hotel in a quiet part
of town but an easy stroll in. Friendly staff who know their jobs. Reception is in the bar as you walk in.
WiFi is very hit and miss and needs improvement, I gave up on it completely.
Breakfast is good.
Pillows are a bit odd.

Arriving at this hotel was like a breath of fresh air. The hotel was modern and really well designed and the welcome by the team was professional but also extremely friendly and helpful. The modern design of the communal areas is great and the good design leads all the way through the corridors but unfortunately ends when you arrive at the rooms. Very basic furniture, cheap carpets and bathroom too small. Don’t get me started on the lacklustre bedding and pillows the size of postage stamps. Not exactly luxury but I’m sure it is fine for a business stay. Well it would be if the internet was fast enough or had a strong enough signal to even stay connected. The spa area is ok but could be kept tidier and the jacuzzi was too cold. The real negative though came when we checked out. When we checked in we were asked if we wanted to pay the room tax at that time or on checking out. We elected to pay there and then and paid in cash. (Our roomrate was prepaid on Expedia.) the tax was 6 euros. On checkout we were again asked to pay the room tax. I explained we had already paid and we were then quizzed about it as though we were lying. Big fail and a big shame as the service had been great up to that point.

Stayed at this hotel a few years ago and standards have dropped very badly. Greeted by friendly staff in reception, made our way to the rooms which have not been updated in years , terrible beds and pillows . Smell of dogs throughout the hotel especially in the lifts , my Wife drinks de caf coffee which could not be got for the duration of our stay , one of the staff informed us it has been unavailable for months . In the leisure area there was no towels , we rang reception but waited for 30 minutes and still no towels . The air conditioning is non existent! Being English I expected at least one or two channels on tv but not one . Our last night there we had been sight seeing all day and fancied some room service with a glass of wine , we were informed there was no room service available, hard to believe in a hotel !!! There was not even a la carte in the bar/restaurant, all was available was a buffet which looked like something served in a youth hostel . I can safely say we will not be returning here , it’s absolutely shambolic !

Responded 4 Oct 2023
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing a review. We appreciate your kind words about our friendly staff and convenient location in the heart of Leipzig. Our team always strives to provide excellent service to our guests. We are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay. We understand your concerns regarding the carpets, and we are currently in the process of renewing them. As for the air conditioning, it is individually controlled in each room and only works with the key card. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Regarding the decaf coffee, we will look into this matter and ensure it is available for our guests. We also apologize for the lack of towels in the leisure area and the inconvenience with the room service. We offer 24-hour room service, and we will address this issue with our team to prevent it from happening in the future. For English TV channels, we do provide cable and satellite channels, and we will make sure to review our channel offerings to better cater to our international guests. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, pentateam Leipzig

Phew, where do I start...

Pro: The only really positive thing was the breakfast buffet. There was a very large selection and everything tasted good.

The following was negative:
* Above the breakfast buffet there was, among other things, the following quote from Christian Dior: "Each bite stays in the mouth for a maximum of two minutes, in the stomach for two hours, but on the hips for three months."
I have no idea what the hotel was thinking. I feel sorry for anyone with an eating disorder who has to read something like that at breakfast.
* There were no closets in the room.
Only a small shelf in the hallway where you could put a few clothes. There was no storage space for cosmetics in the bathroom.
* We had to pay €10 for our 2 bathrobes for one night. And that in a hotel with a wellness area. We've never experienced anything like this before. There were no bathing shoes or slippers in the room either. However, you could buy flip flops with hotel embossing for €12. Absolute impudence.
* The entire “wellness area” including the pool water was very cold. Since there were no cushions on the loungers, you couldn't relax there.
*The hot tub was broken and turned off
* There is no public stairwell, you can only get through the hotel using the elevator.
An absolute nightmare for claustrophobics like me.

Conclusion: Luckily we only booked for 1 night.

When we checked in, we didn't get the room we had booked. We were charged immediately, even though the reservation had been confirmed with a credit card. The room was poorly furnished, showing its age and smelled terrible. The heating was broken. When we asked, loud fan heaters were put in our room. The window was also broken, and when we opened it, the whole window hit me.

There were no menus in the restaurant. You can only read them online with your own cell phone. Stupid if you don't have one with you. After a long search, the children's menu on offer was not available. Overpriced drinks in the restaurant. My EC card was not read by the device, even though it usually works perfectly. But we weren't allowed to write anything on the room either, because credit card details were deleted when we paid at check-in. Great logic. The price-performance ratio is definitely not right. There is a lot of room for improvement in the service. But first they should work on the rooms. I'll definitely be staying somewhere else on my next stay in Leipzig.

What used to be a lovely hotel has unfortunately slipped in its standards. Bar shuts early, kitchen no longer serves lunch. Wifi is incredibly
Slow and too many new staff that don’t know what they are doing.

I thought I had chosen the nicest hotel in Leipzig, but unfortunately I was wrong!!!

I paid over 600 euros including breakfast and I can say from experience what it was for...

The floor of the room had a lot of stains, the TV was getting old and in general I expected more for the price/performance ratio, this was definitely the last time I would stay at Penta!!!

I travel every week for work and I can say from experience that this room is not worth over 600 euros for 2 nights with breakfast!

We stayed here for one night as a mini “Staycation” and were overall happy with everything.
The only downside was a slight mix up with the sauna booking in the evening, which wasn’t made as promised, but we got a slot to use the pool and jacuzzi instead, and used the sauna the following day. There was also a mix up with the bed booking, but that was easily rectified.
The rooms are simple but comfortable, and clean and well looked after. The food is to die for. The portions are enormous and well worth the price.
The staff are all friendly, competent and willing to help.
