Detailed Reviews
I stayed one night at hotel Michaelis and was positively surprised.
As I arrived, I was welcomed by the staff, who helped me locate a parking lot, find restaurants that offered take-away food etc.
The room on the fourth floor was large, clean, and had a nice view of the spire of the Michaelskirche. A small bottle of wine was another positive surprise.
The bed was large and comfortable.
Breakfast (included in the price) comprised bread, yoghurt, various sorts of ham, and an assortment of fish. Bread and egg could be ordered from the waitress.
I left the hotel in positive mood after a good night sleep and a nice breakfast.
In comparison to other hotels in other locations I have stayed at, Hotel Michaelis is one of the nicest.
I had limited time in Leipzig and plan to come back as a tourist. Where I would stay is already decided 🙂

We were in Leipzig for two nights. As I had erred when booking, the hotel was extremely nice about letting us keep the room for the second night. There was no refrigerator or safe, but the room was large, clean, and fine, although the shag carpet rather needs replacement.
The breakfast was extremely varied, more so than another hotel on the same trip to another city. It is easily accessible by tram 11,or 11E from the main train station. There were also plenty of restaurants in the area for dinner.

We stayed for two nights in this hotel and we really loved it. It is situated in the Sud-Vorstadt (south of the city center) but only a 15 minute walk to the center of the alt-stadt. The sud-vorstadt is a part of town with a lot of students and artists which is rapidly becoming a hot-spot I believe, so it is a nice area in itself. The hotel is very spacious and clean, with very friendly staff. They serve a copious breakfast buffet in the morning. We had a room at the front of the hotel and the only lesser thing I can think of is that you can hear the trams passing in the adjoining street, but it did not bother us. If you go there by car: they also have a car-park, which is very convenient in a big city.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Michaelis during one of the World Cup games in Leipzig. We booked the hotel through the FIFA website for a great price. Overall, this was a great hotel. It looks like a deserted building from the outside and there was construction around it but the inside was recently upgraded. The nearby construction was not noisy or noticible inside the room. It took us a few tries to find the front door (there is no sign over the door and it has no handle and the doors open automatically if you get close enough) but once inside, the staff was very helpful and accomodating. Our room was a good size with large windows. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was a good size.
The hotel was located 4 or 5 stops on the metro from the train station in a quiet neighborhood. It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the center of Leipzig. If you want to stay close to the town center or plan to do a lot of traveling on the train, another hotel may be more convenient. We did not eat at the hotel since breakfast was not included but the restaurant looked very appealing.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone who prefers modern ammendities and does not mind staying a bit outside the city center.

We (me, my husband and our two kids) spent one night at this hotel on our way from Rome to Denmark. We were staying in the hotel apartment in the building just next to the main hotel building. The room was just renovated and therefore there was a harsh smell from new materials. We couldn't have the windows opened because the apartment was located next to a road with traffic and a tram. There were no noise problems if the windows were closed. The staff was very friendly and service minded. The breakfast was fantastic and with a wide selection. I will definitely recommend this hotel if wasn't for the smell. But I guess this problem will resolve over time.

Michaelis is an excellent hotel, situated in a small and quiet street about 20 minutes walk from the center of the town. There is also a tram stop nearby.

We supposed to stay at this hotel on 9-10th April 2017.
At check-in we were told that restaurant does not work!!! Nice touch considering that there is no other place to eat at the hotel. Unacceptable!
I was told that I have to pay additionally for my children as they are going to sleep on the sofa and not in our beds! Although sofa was part of the furniture of the room of course, I had to still pay additionally.
"Best" was when we actually went into the apartment. Disgusting smell of new furniture and painting had met us. 20min later all of us including children had a headache. So we decided to move out!
Receptionist was not interested of moving is to the main building, yes aparments had separate entrance. Good thing was that I paid only for the night of course including children and breakfast was taken out of the bill.
I have emailed the hotel and received not reply whatsoever therefore my comments on TripAdvisor.
Considering the standarts in Germany, we are utterly disappointed. We have stayed in many hotels around Europe and this is definitely one of the worst we have ever been and would not recommend it to anyone to stay there.

We stayed there for five nights in May-June for the festival and really loved this hotel. Very smart and friendly personnel, clean and light rooms equipped with everything necessary, good location (8 minutes to the city centre on foot), the place is rather quite and comfortable, and breakfast is very rich with a lot of delicious food. Really good place to stay!

Stayed for one night in this hotel. Location is very central, walking distance from Gewandhaus and heart of town. Also good tramconnection (though public transport is notoriously slow in Keipzig). I had a single room, quite spacious and very clean. Bathroom very modern with good shower. Ample choice at breakfast. Wifi worked well and was free of charge. The restaurant is good as well, but pretends to be high standard cuisine which they do not fully live up to. Therefor price is fairly high. But Leipzig is a vibrant city with lots of options foodwise. As I did not have to pay myself for my room I cannot judge this price.

Clean, modern hotel in a great central yet quiet location. Not super luxurious but a good standard.
The staff is kind, rooms are spacious. We had an excellent lunch in the hotel restaurant and were looked after by veery competent staff. A good breakfast is included. Parking space available.
All in all, a really great choice in Leipzig.
