Behind the historical facade of the former exhibition building in the city centre of Leipzig, the guest will find a truly modern luxury hotel, the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof. The spacious rooms and suites have no comparison anywhere in Leipzig, as is the case with the large lobby bar, wine store and the Brasserie Le Grand. In addition to planning time for an extended stroll through the adjoining Grimmaische Strasse and Leipzig's pedestrian zone, the guest should be sure to reserve a couple of hours to be spend in the spacious fitness and wellness area. The function rooms on the conference floor are ideal for both international conferences and private occasions. Music lovers will appreciate the short distances to the concert halls of the city such as the Gewandhaus, Leipzig's concert hall, the opera house or St. Thomas Church. Also other landmarks and famous places of interest in and around the town hall square and the Naschmarkt can be reached easily on foot.

Hotel's Favourite
Everything is choicest. The building is very old. It used to be a headquarter for merchants where trade was conducted, if I understand correctly. It was prudently renovated and modernized without losing that appeal of originality. The rooms have a private aspect, really a home away from home. Good-sized, not huge. All the features wanted and needed are there including a marble bathtub, the whole is refreshingly sober and no frills at the same time. Mattress is firm, not hard, and I had a great sleep. Breakfast is just fantastic, worth taking time for it (2 hrs would have been OK if I had had them...). Staff are very helpful, great comfort for business and private travellers alike. Great location, close to the important venues and things to see. All that has its price, as one may well imagine.

Excellent location next to Leipzigs town hall. Warm and formal correctly welcome, reasonable and clean room standards, bath room was comparably small, single washbasin only. The nice bar could almost not be used since early closing (22:00h) probably due to Covid-19 restrictions. Friendly staff here!

This is a very good hotel and in a location just a few steps from the main square and the other attractions of Leipzig.
Service was excellent from the friendly staff. We chose the option of breakfast included in the room price. The breakfast buffet is very good, wide selection of food and a very nice setting.
The hotel has a very nice bar/cafe area in the lobby for lunch or late night snacks.
Parking is available for hotel guests on a valet only basis.

This was our second stay at this lovely hotel in the centre of town. We came to Leipzig specifically to visit the Christmas market (which is a stone's throw from the front door) and to visit the zoo, which is about a 10/15-minute walk away. The main railway station is also within a 10-minute walk so it is very conveniently placed
The check in was smooth and efficient, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed and very comfortable, with a really nice bed and stylish bathroom.
The bar area is lovely too, and very classy. Unfortunately, the brasserie was closed so we were unable to dine there, but there are no shortages of good restaurants in the area. We stayed on a B&B basis, and the breakfast was good, and worth the additional price (particularly as from previous experience we know there are not many decent alternatives in the vicinity).
Sadly we did not make use of the spa/gym, because the gym was closed for maintenance, and the spa did not open until 3:30pm, when we were out doing other things. There are plenty of cheaper places to stay in Leipzig, but I doubt whether there would be any better than this.

I stayed at the Steigenberger Leipzig for 12 nights in May 2023 as part of a work tour. This is a beautiful, classy hotel, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
The room was large and the bathroom (complete with quotes from Goethe covering the glass doors) beautifully modern and functional. Everything was spotless and comfortable. The staff - who all spoke excellent English - were always polite and helpful.
The buffet breakfast was sumptuous, and the lunches I had in the downstairs bar area were beautiful. Room service meals were also excellent.
The hotel is centrally located, right next to the Market Square, making it easy walking distance to most tourist attractions.

I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel was booked for me so had no choice but it is one of the nicest I have stayed in. All staff very helpful and attentive. Excellent breakfast but at £28 it should be.
The bed was comfortable and the standard room I was in was very well appointed and spacious.
Luxury hotel standards as expected with turndown service and shoe polishing. There is free water in the room and iron and board readily available.
The hotel is just off the main square and walking distance to tram and train station. Taxis can be called and also valet parking.

Excellent location, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast buffet if you book to have that included. A little more than a five minute walk from the main train station and adjacent to one of the main squares. We have a family and were able to arrange connecting rooms ahead of time. The staff was prompt with e-mail inquiries and helped finalize the reservation to ensure the connecting rooms. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family. And as an extra endorsement, I’ll quote my wife, “After five towns in two weeks this is definitely my favorite hotel.”

Picked this property because it was on the inner part of the center of town. Gets an A for location. The bellmen Tobias and Roger were very helpful and accommodating. Wish I could say the same for the concierge. While she told us she was a local, she was absolutely useless in assisting us in finding a place for a New Years Eve dinner or with learning which points of interest/museums were open. Said she would do some research and when we returned, she had nothing! A hotel that prides itself on being upscale should be able to do better than this. The rooms were fine, albeit one heck of a walk from the elevators.

Dear Guests Thank you so much for taking the time to evaluate your stay with us. Great to read, that our location suited your needs very well and that our doorman and our porter stayed positively in you memories. I am terribly sorry that our Concierge did not meet your expectations. The experience over the last year’s shows that it is always very difficult to find a restaurant for New Year’s Eve within very short notice in advance and that this is sometimes just out of our hands. Thank you very much for your understanding. I have shared your feedback, so we can see if there is any possibility of better preparation towards the end of this year. We do hope that we can welcome you back at some point. We would love to show you that we can do better. In the meantime, we wish you all the best. Kind Regards, Anja Zech-Bohm Personal Assistant to the General Manager

The hotel is situated in a beautiful old building in the center of Leipzig. We took the standard room which was very elegant and comfortable. Nice view from the windows. More than big enough for 2 adults and a child. We didn’t hear any other guests even though the hotel was quite full. Shower was exquisite. Ordered room service which came quickly and was tasty.
Breakfast is very delicious but not a buffet (due to covid), so that means you have to order what you want which was slightly tedious as they seemed a little understaffed. That was really the only slight negative. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Would definitely recommend!

The rooms were a good size and very modern.
Bed and pillows were first rate. Some of the best I’ve ever stayed in and very comfortable. A very large walk-in closet to hang your clothes.
The front hall entrance is very modern with a very beautiful and traditional bar area.
The hotel is century located in a very nice area of Leipzig… Close to some very nice shopping areas of the city.
Akashi ash was excellent, very helpful in recommending restaurants with local and traditional flair. Always seemed to get us a reservation when all hope was lost.
