Detailed Reviews
This is one of the more chill hostels I have stayed at. We visited on a weekday, so it was not busy, but this was more of a couples/older crowd than the rowdy high-schooler/college crowd you typically see at hostels, which was exactly what I was looking for. The rooms are nice, have windows, closets, and individual lockers for your stuff (you get a key to the lock, which was nice). The internet didn't always reach the rooms, so we had to go downstairs, no biggie. Towels were free, sheets were cheap. Breakfast was traditional. All in all, can't beat the price and quality, and it is a block from the very convenient tram.

I stayed there 1 night, I can tell from experience it ranges in the high-end of hostels in Germany. Although in East Germany it is not so cheap and the price / quality tradeoff is not that good. As for all other aspects (except breakfast whcih I didn't try) it is a good place to stay:
- good location in a living area, more "dresdener" than on the other side of the Elben - if you are there on weekends enjoy mixing up with youthful crowds - and only 15min from historical centre
- perfect cleanliness
- gentle staff
- good food at the restaurant downstairs

Very large apartment, very clean and well equipped in a great downtown location. Also very freindly and helpful staff.
Parking is a bit of a problem, but that´s to be expected in a downtown location. This is certainly my top choice for accommodation next time I travel to Dresden.

We checked in at 4 p.m, the weather was really bad. We came in the room, it was freezing there. The windows were wide open. Instead of getting some rest we had to close the windows, turn on the radiators and go somewhere else to warm up. When we returned at 10 p.m. our room was still very cold. It turned out the heating is not working in the whole building and the management knows about it! The reception guy tried to help us for an hour and in the end gave as a heating device.
The hostel is clean, personal is friendly and helpful but it is very disappointing to sit in your hotel room in a coat with a red nose.

I regret to have no choice but to publish this objective review for future guests to take heed, because throughout the entire stay of five days everything was ideal and perfect until check-out, due to the biased incompetence of some uneducated, uncivilised employee.
It is a huge pity because the check-in was extremely smooth with the key having been left in a deposit box overnight, and the payment settled later in the morning. I was even left a welcome note which was a lovely gesture. There were no issues during the stay. The dorms were clean, and the atmosphere was quiet. Awesome guests were also sharing the dorm.
On Sunday afternoon 07th July 2024 the gentleman receptionist on duty was informed by me myself that I would be doing a late checkout at 1pm due to online work commitments, and permission was given to work in the common area by that same employee: a cultured gentleman who was wearing a cap and an interesting t-shirt.
However, in breach of professional conduct I was greeted at 11am with a great thud and shouting behind the dorm door, despite being fully awake and ready for departure. I replied by asking the person to enter, but they left.
Then minutes later as I was sitting in the dorm with all my luggage I was approached again with shouting and highly offensive language from the same individual. A middle-aged woman who I had seen for the 1st time, with black hair, slightly overweight, donning a black t-shirt, and around 160cm in height stood there at the dorm entrance. Without any pretext she was shouting loud, and I responded to her by saying that she could come and collect the key by herself and that she should not consider herself to be some royalty and quit acting like an infant. I mirrored her tone of voice, just exactly the same way she was speaking.
At that moment she burst into fury and was forcefully ushering me out of the premises despite having informed the staff the day before that I had remote work to do. In reaction, I proceeded to the common room when she lifted the middle finger at me. Imagine a guest being shown the middle finger by someone who is supposed to be working in the tourism industry and representing Dresden. I actually reckon that is a legal offence punishable under German law.
At that point, I then demanded to speak to the manager before leaving and proceeded to unpack my laptop in the common room to set up station. Shortly, she arrived back with an older man, who I asked if he was the manager. I got no reply at all from him, just stares, so I continued working in the midst of curse words from this primitive receptionist.
Shortly minutes later, three police officers arrived at the scene. Alas, despite explaining the situation in detail to them and affirming to them I respect their authority, they sided with her lies that I threw the key and was violent and did not want to verify what she claimed with my side of the story or even review the CCTV footage, refusing to provide any details about neither the culprit's name nor her employer.
That's what happened as it happened, and I was left on the street with no clarification from the three officers, one of whom claimed the manager was 'in a meeting' and declined to speak to me.
Luckily I had already completed my stay there at the property and was on my way in all circumstances, otherwise imagine, fellow tourists, when you're thrown out without legitimate pretext and offered no legal way to guarantee your rights.
Consider that and what random motives specific staff members might have towards you. What a huge shame for such unprofessionalism at a lovely property like that!

The rooms were fine and had everything you need but our biggest problem were the women’s showers. They have see through screens and are right next to each other and across from the toilets so there is no privacy. I felt very awkward using the shower and my friend refused too. Wouldn’t stay here again.

This hostel is brilliant !
It is clean, in a decent location not too far from the sights. The rooms are very clean as was the bathroom and security is very good.
My room was very comfortable and the bed was very relaxing to sleep in.
Breakfast was a bargain at around 5 euros and food was of good quality.
Only con is staff could of been a bit more friendly but apart from that his hostel is brilliant value for money, clean, comfortable and warm.
I enjoyed it.

Very spacious and well decorated fresh rooms. Good location, easy tram ride (number 8) to the main train station and city. Nice restaurant below the hostel with great food and service. Down side...after paying for internet we had a very weak Wi-f iconnection in the private double rooms (unable to access the network). Your room rate is that only, and you are required to pay for anything extra even in the private rooms, including linen, internet and breakfast.

We were staying in Dresden overnight to catch up with family and had been recommended the Hostel Louise. I was a little apprehensive about staying in a hostel as were travelling with our 20 month old daughter, but I needn't have worried as it was a great place to stay and suited our needs for a well priced overnight accommodation option. It was cheap, clean and comfortable, in a good location (still walking distance to the old town but also close to public transport), there was parking on the street and it was close to lots of great cafes and bars.
The area nearby is very lively with lots of bars and very active nightlife but the fact that the hostel is set off the street meant it was very quiet and peaceful which was good.
The cafe underneath the hostel is also recommeded! Our relatives took us there for breakfast which was fabulous but apparently they do great meals for dinner and lunch too.

I just staid two nights in Hostel Louise 20, and i thought it was very good. We were lucky because we choose a 2 persons room, and for that case we had like an apartment with more two rooms with whom we should had shared the bathroom, but as it wasn't anyone there we had a bathroom only for us. the room was very big, nice and clean, as all the other facilities of the Hostel. We didn't asked for breakfast so I can't say how it was.
The hostel is located in a very nice area, with a lots of bars and restaurants, but it's not noisy, what was good.
You can easily reach the city centre just by walking, it's around 20 minutes, and in the way you can already start to see the city sights.
