I have been in Mainz 5-6 times for business and revert back soon again. I stayed in several places such as Novotel or Hilton on the Rhein but I have to say this family business seriously can compete with others in the town. Service, friendliness, infrastructure absolutely outstanding, I booked my next stay there already .

I stayed in this hotel May 15-20. I chose the hotel because of its proximity to the train station, which made it convenient for day trips to the Rhineland area (Speyer, Heidelburg, Bacharach, Weisbaden, Rhine cruise, etc). The room (666) was clean and very quiet, maybe because it faced away from the train station. The people at the front desk...

We stayed for 3 nights from Sun-Wed. Excellent staff--they really made the hotel visit great. We were able to check in early and get a double (even though we had mistakenly reserved a single). The front desk was always helpful with maps and advice and just general cheer. The breakfast is to die for--yummy with lots of variety and fun...

The location of this hotel can't be beat. Convenient to the central train station and an easy walk to Old Mainz. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and were very accommodating of an English-speaking guest. The rooms are typical European hotel rooms - just enough space for bed, bath and desk.

Nice hotel, I was about to rule off any hotels near a Bahnhof but I going to hold off due to the Hammer. Nice, clean, comfortable. The only downside was chessey decor. Breakfast was nice - they even had eggs and Bacon. If we come to Mainz again, we will look here first. If traveling by train, it is also...

Many hotels near European railway stations are on the seedy side, but the Hotel Hammer is a terrific exception to the rule. It's well nicely and comfortably furnished, well maintained, quiet (even on the side facing the station, at least on the high floors), and exceptionally convenient for transportation. The staff are very helpful, the breakfast buffet is typically German,...
