The hotel is opposite the main railway stations and bus/tram terminus. It is within an easy 10-15 minute walk of the old town and its restaurants. Arrived by car at the hotel and with prior advice parked in front in the no-car area. Reception spoke good English and were really helpful about checking in and parking the car at special...

I have stayed at the Hotel Hammer several times over many years before returning to the Frankfurt airport for the long flight home. It has been renovated since my first stay in the 1980's, and in addition, the Mainz Hauptbahnhof (train station) has been completely modernized in that time. The hotel rooms, though small, are modern and immaculate. The breakfast...

We stayed at the Top Hotel Hammer for 2 nights in February 2008. We booked directly on their website which appeared to have the same rates available as all the usual suspects. We opted for a superior room, which apparently gives a little more space. The hotel is very easy to find. From the Frankfurt airport just hop on a...

We stayed in Mainz for one night, our first on this trip and my partner's first night in Europe ever. We flew into Frankfurt am Main, caught a shuttle to Terminal 2, went down to the railway station and caught the S-Bahn to Mainz - all very easy. We walked out of the railway station and saw the Hotel Hammer...

Stayed at Mainz for the Christmas Markets, for 4 nights, really liked the hotel & our room but unfortunately we were allocated a smoking room, not the hotel's fault, we hadn't requested non smoking. They couldn't do anything the first night as they were full but did promise to move us for the rest of our stay & kindly gave...

The Hammer hotel is located across from the main train station and bus depot in the centre of Mainz town. Friendly reception, clean rooms, good breakfast buffet, good value for money. Limited on-street parking available around the corner (metered by weekday & Saturday). Would stay here again.

Just back from a 4 day visit to Mainz in Germany and stayed at the Hammer Hotel, which is situated across from DB Station. I had booked a number of rooms in September 2006 as initially there were 7 people travelling, during the following weeks extra people joined our trip and finally totalled 10 persons. We stayed at the Hammer on the 24th and 25th of July 06. It is most certainly one of the best hotels We have stayed at. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was continental but We loved it. The room was perfect with the most comfortable bed. It was also air-conditioned, and as there was a heatwave...
