The property is charming and the surroundings, mesmerizing. What made the experience impactful were the service staff, who exuded warmth and professionalism. The reception team (Deepika, Philipp Weidermann, Gina and Adrian) were always approachable and friendly. The Chief Concierge (Philipp) was knowledgeable and shared about various attractions in the city. Housekeeping was always prompt and efficient and Mr. Steffen Opitz, the General Manager, was always walking the ground and ensuring that the comfort of guests is made paramount. It was also assuring to note that he used to be based in Singapore and was able to banter about culture and service expectations.
What created a firm impression in the wintry cold were the F&B staff at the restaurant and bar. In particular, Mr. Mehmet, who's demeanour is everything the Sofitel and Accor brands should embody. With him around, breakfast is a somewhat luxurious affair and he treats every guest with utmost respect and sincerity. My initial anxiety on European hospitality quickly faded to oblivion.
Perhaps my only grouse with the property would be the lack of an executive/club lounge. Premium members should be accorded a designated venue for drinks at the least. Nonetheless, I will still choose this property whenever I pass through Frankfurt.

From check in to check out it was a breeze. Very attentive staff, nothing was too hard for them. I've received a complimentary upgrade. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows selection fantastic. The quilt was just perfect and combined with a very quiet air-conditioning the atmosphere was set for a very comfortable sleep! The welcome drink was of my choice (highly recommended the bar!). I opted for an in-room dining and was not disappointed at all (the food very delicious, serving was rather large and very reasonably priced). Wish it was cheaper, however, would happy to stay there again, if there is an opportunity.

We stayed at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera for 4 nights in mid-September and splurged on a suite to celebrate our anniversary. I did not inform the hotel of this, yet we were still greeted with a personal note, a bottle of champagne and a lovely dessert stand. The room was spectacular, with a balcony that went the entire length of the room on two sides. We had meals and (almost full) moon viewings out there. The room was spotless and the service impeccable. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and the soul of courtesy. I was also ridiculously happy that the room had something that I miss every time I leave my home (except, of course, when I visit Japan): a Toto washlet! (Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!) I chose the hotel for its location, and couldn’t have been happier with my choice all around. Many thanks to the entire staff for a wonderful stay.

As an Accor Platinum member, I travel regularly and have high standards of service and comfort. Unfortunately, these were not met at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera – especially in view of the high prices. My partner and I spent two nights at this hotel and were disappointed overall.
Valet parking left a positive impression from the start: My vehicle was received and returned professionally and on time. Staff were friendly, attentive and extremely accommodating.
The service in the bar in the evening is also positive. The staff there were extremely attentive and acted authentically, so we felt well looked after and welcomed.
Unfortunately, the service, especially the reception and breakfast, left an unprofessional impression. As a Platinum member, I am used to upscale, personal service. In other Sofitels, especially in Asia, I am often accompanied at check-in to a separate area where I am offered drinks while the formalities are completed. I would have liked this personal touch here as well. Although I was granted a room upgrade, the warm welcome one should expect at a hotel of this category was missing.
The comparison with hotels in the Asian region illustrates the need to catch up. There, guests are often treated like royalty, while the service in German hotels, even in the luxury segment, often seems distant or even arrogant. This impression was unfortunately reinforced during our stay:
- At breakfast on the second day we were initially ignored for over ten minutes and only served on our own initiative. The staff were inattentive and sometimes unprofessional – totally unacceptable for a hotel of this category. My partner, who worked for years in Asian 5-star hotels, was equally astonished by the low standard of service. - The breakfast buffet was disappointing: The choice was limited, and the presentation seemed unlovely – anything but what you would expect in a Sofitel.
The room also had flaws. The TV was inconveniently positioned, so neither from the bed nor from the sofa was a comfortable viewing experience possible. In addition, the rain shower head in the bathroom was worn out, causing the water to splash unevenly.
The wellness area was another disappointment: It was far too small and poorly thought out, so that any relaxation factor was lost.
The lobby, on the other hand, was luxurious and left a positive impression. However, this aspect cannot mask the other weaknesses of the house.
Overall, the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera did not meet my expectations. The high price does not seem justified for what was on offer, so I felt more like staying in an upscale 4-star hotel.
I would strongly recommend that management follow the international standard when it comes to service, especially from Asia. It would make sense to train employees and managers specifically or give them the opportunity to experience the excellent hospitality in Asian luxury hotels for themselves.

Hotel prices in Frankfurt are pretty cheap. And this Sofitel being only 100€ more than Hilton is a great example of that. Having stayed at the Hilton before, the Sofitel is so much more fancy, stylish, modern, high end and value for money.
The hotel is located at the best location in the city. Right by the luxury shopping street, right by the Opera house, but still having a super queit provate drive way and facing the beautiful park.
The service was always fantastic. Room service came twice a day. Special thanks for providing a nice birthday cake for us for a celebration occasion.
The complimentary minibar was something I did not know I needed, but now having stayed at a property for the first time where it was complimentsry and refilled once a day, I might have trouble staying at properties where they do not provide it. Huge points for Accor for starting this service! Might be a deciding factor for me when choosing hotels in the future.
Breakfast was excellent, they have a neat (not huge) buffet and a wide list where one can order eggs and desserts.
Bed was one of the best I have ever slept in! Super soft.
The only downside was the cost for a late checkout. They offered it for free until 1 pm, but would have cost 150€ for 2 pm even. Thats half of the price for the whole night for 1 extra hour. Pretty redicilous if you ask me.
Also, special credit for the doorman (I do not remember his name, but he was a very pleasant, helpful and happy 40-50 year old middle eastern heritage man. He was always greeting us and offering any help we could need, from suggesting sports bars to calling taxis.
The rooms are also very big in size, but still styled to the last detail. Kudos for that too!

This is an elegant hotel with spacious room at the upper scale area of Frankfurt, just steps away from the Opera house. The breakfast is superb and the lobby along with facilities are so elegant. The rooms are old but well maintained, very much of the 80ies style. Fresh linen but uncomfortable mattress. The shower and in room amenities were great. You can slide doors around the bed to separate it totally from bathroom and entrance area.
The sad part is that the room had flying insects and I got bitten by mosquitoes inside the room during my one night stay. I arrived at night and woke up with a mosquitoes bite. Unfortunately, I am hyper sensitive to bug bites, now it has been over a month and I still have not recovered. I have no idea how a hotel at such standards does not have a proper pest control in their rooms.

I can’t say I had very big expectations with the hotel, knowing how little effort is put into 5 star service in Germany, but my stay was still below expectations.
Housekeeping was by far the worst area, with very little attention to detail just carelessness. On the day I checked in, I even entered my room to find the housekeeper sat on the chair speaking on her phone in a foreign language in speaker mode.
The front desk and restaurants were also all over the place, with some excellent people and some indifferent ones. I complained twice about a non functional lamp on my room, to which I never received any follow up.
The breakfast selection left a lot to be desired, and I just did not like the set up of the room. The amenities felt cheap as well.
I would not recommend this property.

Wonderful hotel in the middle of the city - lots of things are within walking distance. Very attentive and courteous service. The rooms are comprehensive and very tastefully furnished; the bathrooms are impressive - very spacious. The beds are exceptionally good, especially the bed linen - not often found in this form. Many details are very harmonious. The breakfast buffet offers everything you need - but does not maintain the very high standard that can otherwise be found throughout the hotel. There is a lack of "attention to detail" here; but that is criticism at a high level.

The Sofitel Frankfurt Opera is very centrally located. From here we could explore the whole city on foot. The welcome was very friendly and in our room (upgraded to a suite) we were surprised with sparkling wine and delicious canapés. The staff at breakfast were extremely attentive and friendly; the breakfast was varied and delicious. The dinner was also delicious and the staff were friendly and competent. Only in the Lili bar did you have to wait a long time to be served...and the staff weren't particularly attentive either. All in all: a really great hotel, with beautiful rooms and great service!

The hotel is centrally located and is a short walk to local restaurants, is right by the opera house and a short walk to the Christmas Market. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly. The building is nice and bright and very modern. There is a nice bar downstairs which has a decent selection of drinks and snacks/food.
We booked two rooms and these were both a good size, comfortable and again, spotlessly clean.
There were a couple of downsides, check in wasn’t the greatest, as we got there around 1pm (fair enough this was early) and our rooms weren’t ready. The lady checking us in just said “you’ll have to come back at 3” We weren’t offered a place to sit where we could grab a drink/food and a few minutes to catch our breath after all our travelling. Not necessarily a complimentary drink, just so we can purchase a coffee and some food to perk us up. So we left our suitcases and went out for a walk and grabbed a quick bite and some drinks outside of the hotel.
We got back about 4 ish and the rooms still weren’t quite ready so we just waited around until they were. This time, the guy checking us in was a little more accommodating and said he’d get us sorted asap, as we didn’t fancy going straight out again.
The other downside is breakfast. Again, very friendly staff but both mornings, after being seated and waiting for ages. we had to chase waiters down for them to take our orders for drinks and breakfast. We did enjoy the food, and they do have a decent egg menu and a buffet with the normal breads, cold cuts, cheeses etc but it’s just the service seems a bit disorganised and slow. The second morning we were sat with a view to the opera house which is very nice.
If in Frankfurt again, I think we would stay there again, but it just feels like the staff are running around very busy and some guests are left not being taken care of very much, for one reason or another.
Not quite 5* but decent nonetheless.
