Stayed here one night on a stop-over to visit a friend. Small, family-owned hotel. Everything was flawless, and the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of confusing information sent via email regarding the required covid tests. This caused us to waste 25 Euro (and time) on a Covid test (even though we already had one). They apologized which is appreciated. Room was medium size, but clean and quiet. They don't seem to have A/C - not an issue for us since it was unusually cool. Breakfast room looked great when we peeked in, unfortunately we did not have time to stay for breakfast.

We arrived early and hotel let us check in without an issue, always a big plus in my book! The room was clean, neat and enjoyed the treats left on the pillows. It could have some amenities like a kettle, but not a big deal. Water pressure was strong and plenty of hot water for cold German winters. Location was decent, a bit of a walk when coming from train station with your bags (10 mins tops) but once you're settled it's easier. Can walk to most sites ( old town is an easy 15-20 mins) by crossing on the iron bridge. Didn't give a 5 star because both day and night receptionist weren't friendly and our curtains didn't black out the light or moved well on the rails, but bcz we were waking up early next morning, didn't want to make a big deal of it. Solid hotel all in all, can find many restaurants and shops within a 5 mins walking radius.

Recommended by a friend who lives locally, we enjoyed our stay at Maingau. The hotel is located in Sachsenhausen, where there are lots of good restaurants and cafes. The city center is an easy walk across the river. Access to trams is also good and the airport is only 20 minutes by car. We were on a family trip (3 pax) and had a rear-facing room, which was quiet, spacious and had a separate shower and bathtub. Many hotels in Germany don't have AC and this hotel doesn't either, but there was a fan with a water tank in our room. With windows open and the fan on, sleeping during the August heatwave was fine. Travelling as a family, having breakfast included was key and the buffet breakfast was basic, but good. Staff was always very friendly and helpful. It's a simple hotel, but definitely offers value for money. On the online booking websites, a 3-person room was not available, but I contacted the hotel directly and they arranged it for us.

Easy to find with good public transport connections we stopped for 2 nights at the Maingau in August. Very well appointed rooms but there was definitely good use made of a wide angled lens when choosing the pictures for the website as there is not a lot of space at all. Incredibly friendly English speaking staff who were very obliging in allowing us to leave our suitcases there for a few hours after we checked out. There was also a more than adequate buffet breakfast and a bar, although we didn’t try that. However the lack of aircon in the room coupled with the locals partying for most of the Friday night in the public park directly across the road means it’s not a hotel we would return to.

This is a good hotel for a city trip to Frankfurt. Walking distance to downtown is about 20 min, but there is also a tram and metro station nearby. The district Sachsenhausen, where the hotel is located, is very nice with a lot of coffee shops, restaurants, bars and little stores. The room and bathroom were nice and clean. The only downside was, that the cleaning staff came in twice in the morning while we were still sleeping.
