Let's deal with the location. It is near the main station, which is good. However, there is open drug taking going on in nearby streets as well as it being close to the Red light area. Staff at check-in were very open about this and gave us good advice to circumnavigate the areas.
That out of the way staff were excellent, communal areas smart and well cared for. Our room was on the fifth floor and overlooked another building, this was no problem for us and is part of booking a central city hotel. The room was very clean and bedding exceptional. The shower was a little small but not so as to inconvenience us.
Breakfast was a good price and the buffet was well laid out, staff coming regularly to restock items and clear tables.

Good breakfast. The single rooms have really small bathrooms which is irritating.
Try it…?!?
The reason for this was the very short walk to the main station and the cheap price.
This time I had a room in the back wing (behind the stairwell, facing the courtyard) for the first time. This made it very quiet, In addition, room is also cut differently. The bed was better than last time, now usual box spring bed instead of low bed. With closet in the hallway the bedroom was spacious. The bathroom also has plenty of space in the front, so it's strange that shower cubicle is so cramped. Technically, everything works. The use of the elevator in the morning can be problematic, as there is only one, but very many floors.

The paved area directly in front of the hotel has been rented to the Kebab takeaway next door & becomes a meeting point for drunks & addicts into the early hours of the morning.
The rooms are modern, a little too bright for my taste, but OK. My particular room did not have air conditioning, but I believe some do have this. It was 36' during my stay, but due to my room location on the first floor overlooking the hotel entrance, I could not open the windows due to the noise, cigarette & "herbal" smokes coming from downstairs & a frequent strong sewer smell.
The heat in the room is made far worse by the use of a thick plastic mattress protector adding to the sleep discomfort
Breakfast is as expected from a budget hotel & adequate & in good supply.
I am writing this at 5:00 unable to sleep from the noise coming from the street outside as an argument/fight is taking place between a couple of drunks/addicts.
I was booked here by my company as a last minute trip, we will ensure that no-one stays here (or this area) again.

Well in advance indicated that the hotel rooms must pass each other, they could not arrange this, then the passes did not work to get into the room. This was then done for 3 days in a row.
We went to reception after this and they couldn't help us. He gave us the wrong number (just from reception) and he was very fierce in his way of communicating. He also answered the reception phone while talking to us. VERY BAD SERVICE!
DON'T GO THERE! In addition, the neighborhood around the hotel is very dangerous and you do not feel safe. Save your money and go to a decent hotel where you will be treated with respect..
The room was clean and spotless , free breakfast was very good ! Loved the location , it was walking distance to all the major attractions and 3 min away from main train station the Haupbahnoff !
The highlights were Nikki and Wahid at the front desk . They went out of their way to be super helpful and friendly . And totally professional too! Spoke fluent English and were very helpful with directions and offered a hot cup of cappuccino when I used to trudge back after a day of sight seeing ! Loved that special touch !
Would recommend this hotel highly ! Especially if a solo traveller !
For a Muslim it's a great place too as all the halal food restaurants are spread in the streets near the hotel.
The Hotel was well placed to walk to the old town along by the river and was fairly central for Tram and train connections.
The Hotel is situated on the fringe of some night clubs and bars that were trying to entice people into them so not a place for females and family's.
As the hotel does not supply tea making facilities in the room this was available in the reception area. If you like cold coffee that was made early in the morning fine, but the reception staff were NOT able to make fresh coffee as they didn't have a key to the kitchen which was closed.
There were no curtains in my room and one has to be very strong to operate the outside shutters..
Breakfast was ok but not to enticing and was slightly late in opening which didn't help my impressions of this hotel
