A priori this could be a nice hotel. Location is quite convenient, nice park nearby. The problem is that it is impossible to sleep in the bed. Mattress covered with plastic sheeting that is not removable. No breathing and you wake up in the middle of the night on a wet sheet. For 10o + Euros a night unacceptable.

Room was very large and location was very convenient to sites in the city, public transportation, etc. Room was extremely noisy through the night- walls were paper thin. The maids' closet was directly outside our room so we were woken up at 0700 by their chatter. Free parking advertised is very misleading. Yes, there is free parking nearby- IF you...

The hotel is situated in a convenient location to access the city via public transportation. What I like about the hotel is the spacious bedroom and the high ceiling. The only downside is that the floor is squeaky, so, if you are a light sleeper, you might be affected by your companion who goes to toilet in the middle of...

I travel to Hamburg a lot, but this was my first stay here. The rooms suit the building which is old with high ceilings. Good value as you could have a whole family in the room I was given. The shower was fine and the breakfast a good standard. It's central and within walking distance of all the amenities.

I like such hotels: small, quiet with atmosphere like being family run. I booked hotel through booking.com and I paid 59 eur for 1 night what is really good price for hotel located I this part of Hamburg. Service nice, rooms comfortable, good quality of sleeping. The minus is difficulty to park a car.

We stayed at the hotel the last weekend of November. Nice quiet hotel. Our room was nice kind of oldfashioned. The shower was very small, but still okay. The breakfast was 12 Euros and quite okay, too. We will definitely come back :-)

I wrote this for booking.com: Positive: Got a free upgrade to a double room after email inquiry asking about complaints from others that single rooms are extremely tiny. But this hardly helped. Negative: I wrote hotel in advance asking about multiple negative comments in the reviews regarding WiFi / WLAN problems and noise. I was assured I would get a...

Me and my husband spent 3 nights at Hotel Am Dammtor and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly, they helped us with a lot of info, with maps and they were always smiling and very polite. The location is great, close to an S and an U station and also to the main central station, very...

The "Hotel Am Dammtor" is located in the heart of Hamburg, not directly along the picturesque harbour or the famous shopping streets and the "Reeperbahn", but still in a walkable distance and more or less in the city center. We stayed here for 2 nights on a family trip, and had booked 2 rooms which turned out to be a...

“Make sure you get a room away from the street. - this was what spoild my sleep, a lot of noise from the street. But if you close the window you can not hear the noise, it is just so if it is very hot you might like to sleep with open window !!!”
