Hotel am großen Waisenhaus is in walking distance of the Brandenburger Tor in Potsdam, so it's right in the center. It is great that you have a bit of history in the building. The rooms were quite clean and could be a bit more cosy but I slept really well. The breakfast was just above and beyond. Tou could make your own fresh juice, they offered smoothies and everything else that you could wish for. In my opinion one of the best hotel breakfast in awhile. Covid hygiene could be a bit more compared to other hotels we stayed in but I still felt save.
I stayed here on a business trip and extended the visit over the weekend. The rooms are large, simple and adequate. It was warm during my visit, but opening the window worked well! The breakfast is friendly and excellent. An ironing room was available, but no laundry service. By the time I found the laundry in the city it was too late to have clothes washed before moving on to the next hotel. Within walking distance of most that you may want to see. Trans and buses are close by and the hotel sells tickets.
The hotel was on a street with similar buildings and was a former barracks and hospital. Our large room was on the ground floor and was fine. It happened to be a handicapped room, so the shower was completely open, but the toilet was not extra high. The beds were good, as was breakfast.
The receptionist gave a rude welcome and bad service throughout the stay. She treated us as though we were a nuisance. The room was nice though the common areas were cold in temperature and ambiance. The internet coverage was spotty.
wonderful hotel. gorgeous, spacious rooms, excellent facilities. lovely quiet and beautiful location in a really pleasant city. The breakfast was amazing but the coffee could have been better (too weak!). but aside from that, an amazing hotel!
