Our stay began with one funny gymkhana because if you arrive during the night -like us- you must to contact with one doorman that hides when he see someone. You can knock the window, but he will hide beside the courtain. After 5 minutes trying, finnally -and although he doesn´t speak any word in English- he will give you a...

I stayed at Dark Hostel with a friend for four nights prior to attending Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig. My cab driver told me that we were in a bad part of town (and didn't even want to drive away before I'd found my friend!) but I loved it. Perhaps it's because my friend and I were simply two freaks...

The Dark Hostel (website http://www.hostels.com/hostels/berlin/dark-hostel/24067") was something of a surprise. The place is run by the same people who run a heavy metal rock club accross the way. Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
