If you prefer living like a local to joining mobs of tourists in a hotel, I can't imagine a better selection than the Miniloft. Getting to the apartments from Tegel airport couldn't be easier; grab a TXL bus out the front door of the airport, get off at Invaliden Park, and you're a short walk from the door. Four of...

My husband and I have returned to Miniloft three times over the past decade, every time we visit Berlin and have loved it each time. The welcome is warm, accommodating and communication very prompt and very positive. Mini loft is in an excellent location and we were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was...

We came during the snowy days. Our "introverted" apartment is very spacious. There was plenty of space to keep our two massive suitcases open and to hang all our thick winter clothes neatly. The apartment and the whole building is nicely designed. The heating system was really effective to keep us comfortable and warm. The location was also great -...

Just back from a two night stay at the fantastic Miniloft apartments in Berlin. We travelled as a group of three adults and wanted to stay somewhere with more space than a regular hotel room. We were not disappointed with our Extrovert room on the 4th floor. Beautifully designed, spacious, huge windows, warm and comfortable. So many little details have...

My husband and I stayed at the Miniloft for 6 nights. The loft had everything that we needed, from kitchen utensils to great soap and shower gel to heated floors. The Miniloft's staff is very friendly and helpful. It is conveniently located near trams, the central train station and is only 2 tram stops from the Berlin Wall memorial. I...

We wanted to have some other accommodation than regular hotel. This came up to us on Lonely Planet recommendations. We chose compact rooms which were located in the old part. Note that old part does not have a lift. New part does. Really nice stay with modern, simple design. The prices per night was silmilar to hotels, with exception no...

We stayed here for 6 nights. The location was perfect for walking to venues, daily shopping, trams and trains. The spaces are quite interesting, compared to North American exceptions, but work well for two people. Except the fold down sofa bed which has seen better days and was quite uncomfortable. Also, its hard to keep the window open at night...

We loved the Minilofts. Stayed in the Extrovert Apartments. We arrived late and the instructions to access our apartment were meticulous, down to our name on the door of the individual apartment. The apartments are are spacious and self contained and this part of the building has a fabulous modern design. There is an office within the building, and emergency...

Miniloft was a fantastic place to stay in Berlin. Close to transport and some great museums. They also have one of the best guide books to help you find the best places to eat and see in the area. Also great advise and assistance from staff. Helps you feel like a local. I stayed for 10 days and it felt...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
