Ellington hotel wants to be a design hotel, minimalist decor, fashion and what they self call “Trendy & Elegant hotel”. After 2 days there on occasion of a business meeting held in the hotel, here is my opinion. The lack of security in the hotel is evident. You can easily access the rooms from the road without any control of...

Spent only 1 night here but would been happy to have stayed longer! As others have pointed out the rooms are relatively small, and ours at least had a curious shower/washbaisin in the room arrangement which may be little too intimate for some people. However the light decor and high ceilings made it feel quite spacious. The location is great,...

The hotel was booked for me by my German colleagues and I was slightly apprehensive. But as soon as I walked in, I fell in love with this beautiful art deco building which has been amazingly renovated paying special attention to detail. The hotel and the room were a little piece of heaven after a long freezing day working in...

SUPER SUPER SUPER. Located near everything, ATM, underground trains, restaurants etc. Breakfast Buffet was random, not worth 19 euros in my opinion. Highly recommend this hotel!!

I cannot complain at all. Our room was small - but nice and clean. Modern bathroom and comfy beds, facing the street with double glazed windows - no street noise. Breakfast had a good choice. The location was ver convenient, just around the corner of KaDeWe and many restaurants, only 10- 15 minutes drive to the Exhibition centre and 20min...

Stayed here for three nights for a winter city break. Excellent central location near the U-Bahn and great welcome experienced. The reception were friendly and helpful: nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were as promised: minimal, clean but functional: what more could you want? The shower was very powerful, the bed comfy and the towels soft. The only downside...

We went for a long weekend and it was made special from the minute we walked in the hotel. The reception staff were lovely and gave us all sorts of information about where to go etc. AND they gave us the best map - the 'hotel map' went everywhere with us!! The location was spot on and the only time...

My father and I stayed here July 2009 and were very impressed with the rooms, cleanliness and reception staff. The rooms are white and pale cream colour and very bright and spacious (rooms at the rear of the building were smaller). we usually stay at 4 or 5 star hotels and both of was would be more than happy if...

I liked a lot this hotel! Very clean (immaculate!), confortable beds, good position, good breakfast, polite staff. The design of the interiors follows the modern style, with the contrast between white, black and light brown. The architecture of the building seems to be a public institution or something like that before to be transformed in hotel, but the Duke Ellington...

We chose this hotel as it was located just off Ku'damm, so very convenient for transport, as well as the Zoo, etc. However, the accommodation was lacking in many areas. Our room was comfortable, the bed especially, and we knew from other reviews that the shower cubicle faced into the room, which was strange but not too much of a...

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
