This was one of my horrible hotels experience ever, the worst customer service on earth. I've been trying to call them for many times when they recognise me they just hang up without saying a word. It looks like they do not speak neither English...More
I did not even sleep there. I just asked via e-mail (in German) if it's true that the Internet connection did not work and all I got was a copy & paste answer. When I asked for more details the owner just ignored me. As...More
We have spent just one night with my girlfriend during visiting Bread and Butter fair trade. Was easy to find it out, but it is not a hotel - seems more like very cheap guest house. The room where we overnighted was pretty large but...More
Is this really a hotel or is it the front for some kind of money laundering? Almost non-existent wi-if connection; thin walls that didn't insulate us from the noise from the hallway and other rooms; no fridge; located on a busy arterial road and needed...More

Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today
you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
