Atmosphere, service, rooms, facilities, the pool... everything is exceptional at Hotel de Rome in Berlin. It provides a great experience right in the middle of Berlin. Very good breakfast until 2PM on the weekends!

The hotel and the spa was absolutely lovely with very friendly staff. On the negative side: Spa closed on Friday (closed party), same for restaurant at lunch and The Afternoon tea room on Saturday. As a hotel guest you do expect to be able to use the hotel and it amenities during your stay.

We visited Hotel de Rome for a long weekend. The flight got us in to Berlin late morning and by the time we reached the hotel by Taxi, it was just after midday and too early to check in. We left our bags and were pleased that these had been delivered to our room by the time we got back...

Just glad it was a business trip paid for by the company, otherwise I would need very deep pockets to survive three days at my own expense. Great place to stay, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is great and the night life in the hotel and around the area is pretty good.

My husband, daughter and I spent 4 days at this luxury hotel, located in the historic pre-war Dresdner Bank building which has been beautifully restored. The design is timeless, retaining mosaic floors, high ceilings and spacious rooms (and grand hallways). It is located centrally, walking distance to Museum Island and all the attractions of Berlin. The staff are friendly, professional...

Perfectly located hotel with friendly and attentive staff. Unfortunately our whole party felt the beds were too hard and consequently very uncomfortable. One room requested a mattress topper to resolve the problem and this was willingly provided.

I stayed at the Hotel de Rome for two nights on business and I found the place to be impeccable in almost every way. Front desk staff was competent, helpful and professional. The hotel is neither very big nor extremely small and the interior design is tasteful and timeless. My room was nicely furnished and the bathroom large (big walk-in...

Great, classy but not conservative atmosphere! A great mix of British flair and service, mixed with boutique type of style and french scent. A pleasure! Although we did not eat a la carte (a larger business group), the buffet, service and drinks were all very good! I did not have a chance to enjoy the afternoon tee or the rooftop...

Excellent hotel with great rooms, good spa and breakfast buffet. Located near to all main attractions the hotel is also close to good public transport links. Discreet but quality service in all departments.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel de Rome is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim (appointed master builder of the government), which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendour and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome. Tommaso Ziffer has been assisted by architects Aukett + Heese with Olga Polizzi and her design team at Rocco Forte Hotels. ... more   less
