This hotel is wonderfully located adjacent to the River Spree on Friedrichstrasse, one of Berlin's main thoroughfares. It is convenient to the city's train and underground network and within easy walking distance from many of Berlin's fantastic attractions, including Museum Island. The standard rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed. Ours had a view to the River, and, although we were...

The title says it all...the hotel is clean, the service is excellent and the interior is very nice...It offers a big variation for Breakfast Buffet, but at the second day,the smoked salmons they served weren't too fresh, everything else was okay, they even had Churros for the breakfast!the location is also very strategic tough, very close to the attractions of the city... :)

We had a layover in Berlin and were able to get a room at an unbelievable price of $159.00 for the night. This hotel was the best we have ever stayed in, the room was very spacious and very beautifully decorated. We found the breakfast to be a bit crowded but it was obvious why when we sat down to...

Stayed here again for a few nights, 4 years after a first visit. Happy to see that standards have not slipped - excellent and quiet rooms, good breakfast, prompt and friendly service. The price may be slightly higher than the rates in new properties in the immediate vicinity but I would not hesitate to return here.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Melia Berlin, and it won't be the last! Firstly the location, you won't get a more convenient location, directly opposite the main station, the tram outside the door and the U barn 25 feet away. The accommodation, we have stayed in many 5 star hotels and this is up there...

Just a few steps from the underground station and in great location, this hotel has a wonderful comfortable bed, spacious rooms and one of the best breakfast services I've ever had. Expensive, but worth its money.

We really enjoyed our recent stay here. The hotel isn`t too large and is nicely located near lots of major attractions as well as the subway and several nice restaurants. This hotel is literally right across the road from a major subway station and one stop further is the main train station. You can`t beat that for accessibilty. Free wifi...

This hotel gets the big three things right 1. Comfy beds and great pillows. 2. Charming staff 3. Lots of space There are one or two things it could improve on. Of the two hotel computers, one was broken and the other seemed infected. At any rate it was snail-speed. For a 4 star hotel, WIFI in the rooms should...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
