Beautiful hotel and location. The rooms were spacious, equipped with mini bar, slippers, bath robe. The location is right next to the Friedrichstrabe Ubahn station. There is a fitness center that is marketed as being open 24 hours but I was told not to use the treadmill at night as it is too loud. The only negative for me was...

I really have nothing bad to say about this hotel. I staying in November 2011 during a weekend break to Berlin & the hotel was very nice & spotlessly clean. Staff were very efficient & helpful and the room was comfortable & well decorated. Nice comfy bed too. Unfortunately I didn't try breakfast there, but I should imagine food was...

We've just come back from a short city break at the Melia Hotel and what a great hotel it is. It's ideally located next to the river and within short walking distance of all the main areas you'd want to visit. We were on a deal that included a complimentary breakfast and use of the executive lounge. The staff in...

We stayed in this Hotel February 2012. The hotel is excellent value for money. It is a very modern and elegant hotel with great service. The buffet breakfast is amazing and definitely worth paying for!! There is a huge variety of foods and it is of very good quality. If you sign up to the hotel club you get 2...

I really can't believe there are some bad reviews on this site for this fabulous hotel. The hotel could not be located more centrally - we were in Berlin taking in the sights for three days - and we could get the sbahn or ubahn to virtually every sight on the Berlin map in less than 15 mins from the...

I made the reservation for this hotel via Expedia, all very easy and straightforward. This trip was for my husbands 40th birthday and I did inform the hotel of this. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, we were given a room upgrade and had a lovely room overlooking the river. The rooms were clean and of a...

Arriving at Berlin Schönefeld Airport its a simple 7 euro train ride that last about 30mins into the city. Your station for this hotel is the "Friedrichstraße station". On arrival at your platform head downstairs (follow the crowd) and keep an eye out for the high level directional signs that indicate the street exit for Friedrichstraße. Once your at the...

The hotel is comfortable. The rooms are spacious and the location is perfect! It is not a boutique type or authentic. It's a standard hotel with standard furnishing. But in Berlin it doesn't matter. I really liked the hotel and I could have easily given it 5 stars but I didn't! The reason is the lack of internet access. For...

The best thing about the hotel is its central location- close to everything in walking distance which is a massive help on a short trip to the city. Apart from the lack of tv channels and coffee making facilities in the room, a lovely place to stat

I stayed here in March 2012 for 3 nights. The hotel is located a stones throw from Friedrichstrasse station which was very handy when coming in on the train from Schoenefeld airport. It was a great base for sightseeing as the Brandenburg Gate was round the corner. The room itself was clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel staff were...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
