Very good position for seeing main sights and shops and restaurants. Clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and free gym even if the weights were not big enough for our 15 year old grandson. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

We found that the hotel had all we hoped for and more ... the location was GREAT. S Bahn, U Bahn, right outside the hotel. The river right there, we walked from the hotel to the Brandenburger Gate. The room was outstanding, loved the breakfast with so so many choices and the staff was paying attention to our needs and...

Location is the major attribute here. About 30 steps from subway, close to a supermarked and farmacies. Wi-fi speed improved during the years and now it's not necessary to enter the password everyday, which was annoying. Heating unfortunately does not work well. Staff is very friendly and willing to help - my special thank you to Diana, Nicole and Anett...

We had a great stay at Melia Berlin. Not only did we get to enjoy the beautiful view of the River Spree at breakfast and from our room, but we were also at a walking distance from the river cruise ports, the train station, as well as from the most important tourist attractions in the city. We also give high...

In this price range I do not believe I have stayed in a better hotel. Service, location, rooms, breakfast etc was excellent. Would recommend it for anybody travelling to Berlin. The staff at reception were always very friendly and answered all the questions we had with a smile. I will be back.

Our request was not forgotten and we had a lovely room overlooking the river. The hotel even send my husband a complimentary bottle of champagne. The room service and attention of reception staff was excellent. The location was...

Chose this hotel as it was located very close to Friedrichstrasse station (convenient for both airports), the River Spree, and within walking distance of many or the major attractions. We had an early arrival so were expecting to just drop our bags and check in later, however the staff member checking us in asked if we'd like an early (and...

We picked this hotel for its proximity to a mainline railway station as we were travelling in late to Schönefeld airport and Friedrichstrasse is one of the stops on the airport express line. The hotel is almost across the street. Its location also meant we could walk to several of the Christmas markets. Rooms pleasant. Breakfast very good. Staff friendly...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
