We felt very lucky to be at Old Town Apartments. The place was beautiful; full of stark generous East Berlin architecture. It was an excellent base as well. We ate in the kitchen every morning, the bathroom had powerful hot water, there was an organic supermarket on the corner. There was even a play room for the kids! We had...

Stayed for 4 nights in mid-January. Apartment was pretty bare bones, but had everything we needed. The first night there was no heat or hot water in the entire unit, which was annoying to say the least when all 4 people had traveled 8 hours that day to get there and wanted to have a hot shower a a warm...

We travelled as a family, so the two bedroom set up worked really well. Lovely high ceilings, stripped floor boards. Beds are small, but comfortable. Well equipped kitchen, not that we cooked as loads of restaurants nearby. More comfortable lounge chairs chairs would have been appreciated. Friendly staff. Great location, two minutes from the tram stop.

The location is PERFECT! I did have such high hopes for this place, after all the lovely reviews, but it didn't live up to them. The room was spacious for the two of us, but our room was meant to "sleep 4" no way 4 people could function in this one room, one bathroom apartment. The sofa bed was hard...

Berlin is my favorite place for shopping with friends. I went there 8 times and 3 times in the old town apartements. The old buildings are charming with parquet and high ceiling. Bathrooms are spacious and Kitchen is really convinient for having a tea or a lunch. Ask for a quiet room because I know there is a few rooms...

These apartments are incredibly comfortable, clean and located not too far from the city centre. There is a metro line two minutes walk from the apartment which can take you anywhere you want to go in the city. The staff were incredibly helpful and eager to make our stay the best it possibly could be. Would recommend this place for...

We stayed at a unit on Schoenhauser Allee. First we had to check in at their office and then were given a key for this unit which is about a block and half away. At first, it is deceiving as you have to enter through this big door were shops and a Mediterranean restaurant is situated. Once you enter, you...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
