We stayed here for Halloween weekend. 30th Oct - 02 Nov. The hotel is located right across the road from the central station in Berlin so it was perfect for us. We flew in to Schönefeld T5 from Manchester and got the train straight to hotel which was so easy and cheap instead of paying for taxis! We checked in and they took a €50 deposit which we weren’t aware of but it wasn’t a problem and I have received it back. Then we were asked if we wanted a room with a bath or a shower which I thought was a really nice touch to our check in. We chose shower and the room didn’t disappoint. The room was really nicely decorated, spacious, great view of the river and felt really luxurious. The beds were really comfortable apart from that they were separated in the middle which was slightly annoying but apart from that we slept really well; never heard any noise in the halls and the room has controls for the temperature which was nice. They did tell us the spa was still open but we didn’t get chance to have a look. We did want to have breakfast in the morning but it was really expensive €25 per person is just too much when they have a pret-a-manger and a Starbucks across the road. The tv worked well but didn’t have any English channels apart from the news channels. It would’ve been nice if they had Netflix as an option. They have a restaurant which we ate at on the Saturday which was lovely but slightly expensive and we really empty but I’m sure that was just because of Germany’s nearing lockdown. Overall it was a really nice stay and I would recommend this hotel because of it’s location and it’s lovely rooms. My favourite thing was definitely the bathroom, the rainfall shower was so relaxing. Perfect.

Dear"katieeP8357XH", Thank you very much for this nice rating. We are happy that you felt comfortable during your stay and it makes us very proud that you rewarded us with all five points. It makes us very proud how much you praise the hotel and that we are always your first choice when coming to Berlin. Regarding the breakfast, we recommend for your next stay to book a bed & breakfast rate, which already includes the buffet at a reduced Price. Please note that we only have an extensive sauna facility, but no whirlpool or pool. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back soon. With kind regards Peter B. I stayed at this hotel for three days and unfortunately my impressions are not entirely positive. The hotel is located a few steps from the Berlin Central Station, in a beautiful contemporary building. The decoration of the common areas and the room are very modern and functional. Everything is new and well cleaned. Ecological standards are highly respected. The breakfast, served in a nice restaurant with a great view, is very decent. The staff is courteous. Perhaps the elevators do not work perfectly, because sometimes they do not recognize the card that also serves as the room key and that allows access to the upper floors.
My criticism mainly concerns some aspects of the organization of the hotel. I am of the opinion that there should be more people at reception, because sometimes is necessary to wait. Then, the first reaction I had upon entering deluxe room 603 and opening closet, was total disappointment. There were only three hangers for the trousers, and none for the shirts or jackets. I went to the reception and they gave me two hangers. I also had to ask for a bathrobe and slippers. Due to the new epidemiological measures all unnecessary accessories have been removed from the room, the minibar was empty, and the room is cleaned every two days. However, the empty water bottle was not replaced. Maybe these are the small details, but they make a difference.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Steigenberger am Kanzleramt. As always, it lives up to its reputation - top-notch in all respects (perfect location just by the main train station, lovely rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast).
Since the last time we stayed there, the "Cube" building in front of the hotel has been completed, and far from congesting the view from the hotel, it adds a new dimension to rooms looking out onto the main street with a stunning view. And the rooms are perfectly insulated from outside noise, so paying a bit extra for the street view is definitely worth it!

The good: Hot and powerful shower.
Location, especially if you are getting the train to Berlin.
Clean.
The bad: Small TV (40”), couldn’t stream to it, no connection console, difficult to connect a USB stick or HDMI cable because the wall bracket doesn’t move that much. Sky news and BBC news didn’t work, CNN was in and out. This was mentioned to the reception desk, I was told it was down to their supplier.
Beds were very soft.
The ugly: Breakfast. Some guests did wear masks some didn’t, some staff were wearing masks without their noses covered. I had to explain, in my bad German, how to fry an egg so that it was “over medium”. The bacon was the incinerated streaky stuff, I did ask (2 weeks before) if they could get some proper breakfast bacon (back bacon). They were unable to and said it was down to their supplier. Putting low tables in front of what would normally be the self selection buffet area creates a narrow corridor where guests have to queue and walk past before ordering their food. It’s difficult to see what you can have because it’s all set back behind these tables and there are 2 or 3 people who take your requests. I appreciate it’s difficult in these Covid times, but I’ve seen other hotels handle this much better.
There isn’t any hotel outdoor area where you get some fresh air, sit down and have a coffee or beer or whatever. The ground floor bar looked dark and uninviting.
Young staff with little sign of leadership from senior management. If there’s a problem, blame the supplier it’s not the fault of the Steigenberger.
Lastly, a suggestion for the Steigenberger: more soap is needed above the bathroom sink, either a larger dispenser or refilled more often, people are washing their hands more often and have to wash their fabric masks. I was having to use shower gel from the shower because we ran out.

The hotel offers travelers a mixed picture. On the one hand, the "hardware" of the hotel is really appealing as a 5-star hotel, as everything is generously sized. The rooms in particular. There are also wardrobes and the bathroom is also generously sized. The breakfast room is appropriate for the size of the hotel and offers a beautiful view from the first floor to the main station and the chancellery. The staff are mostly very friendly. The really well thought-out curtain placement is strikingly good, which helps to darken the room as much as possible.
The "soft facts" about the hotel are not quite as appealing to me. This begins in the strangely sterile lobby, where it feels like there are 100 armchairs waiting for the public, but no one voluntarily sits on the hard and cheap things. The opportunity to create a visual focal point was also missed in the bar. So there are drinks here, but that's about it. You look in vain for a lighting concept or conceptually implemented furnishings. At the otherwise very opulent breakfast, I was bothered by the average quality of the food at best. Above all, baked goods, (sliced) cheese and cold cuts were of simple supermarket quality. Nothing seems to fit together here. There are no amenities in the bathroom. Bathrobes and slippers are only available on request and the minibar is empty. This has nothing to do with a 5-star hotel.
Overall, we were still satisfied because the location is perfect for activities all over Berlin, close to the main train station, and the rooms are very good overall.

The hotel is located right beside one of the major stations and very easy to find. Being close to the station also provides easy access into other area using the train , tram or subway.
The hotel and rooms are nice inside but the main failing of the hotel is the beds. Its two single mattresses pushed together to make a king size bed. Most mornings either my wife or I would be lying in the void in the middle which wasn't very comfortable. Along with the poor bed was the fact you cant open the window and the air conditioning doesn't seem to chill the room effectively.
I wouldn't stay here again due to the above issues. The costs of the hotel just isn't justifiable when you dont get a good nights sleep..

Steigenberger Kanzleramt is conveniently located next to Berlin's main stations with easy access to all over Berlin.
Facilities include a very good wellness area for a city hotel incl. SPA, several saunas and steam room. Fitness area had modern equipment with a good choice. Breakfast was well stocked, eating in a noce and not too crowded area (despite full occupancy). Rooms were modern and functional, bedding was very comfy with good matraces.
Service was really excellent. I forgot my headphones on check-out and a call and an email solved the issue in a matter of minutes.
I am happy to return any time.

Stayed here ten days on a research trip. The location is next to the main railway station and thus offers easy access to airport and public transportation; and an easy walk to the Reichstag. Well isolated rooms are smartly laid out with quality furnishings, Whisper quiet heating/cooling, nespresso maker, rain shower, and fast internet make this the place to rest. The breakfast is extensive with excellent service. The view varies per room. Mine looked out on the RR square with the Cube and the Reichstag and was wonderful. There are also rooms looking out on side street as well as the inner side (the building is a square block). So upgrade for viewing pleasure, The only inconsistent part of the stay was house keeping. Great one day; poor the other. So if you like a very German hotel with good service and don't mind taking the ubahn to the sites, this is the place.

I was able to find this hotel easily, exiting towards Washintonplatz from the Berlin Main Station.
The property seems very new. My room 417 was much more spacious than expected. What I liked most was floor heating in the bathroom and the espresso machine. The room also has an electric kettle and bathtub in the bathroom. What I did not like was the slippers were not in the room and I had to ask the front desk to bring it upstairs.
When I checked out, I was told to pay for the bill of the bar charged on my room. I did not use the bar and there was no signature for the billing sheet. I did not pay for the bill but I had to leave the hotel with unpleasant feeling. That is why I can not rate them to the highest degree.

We prefer Steigenberger hotels with at least 4 stars for our city trips.
In December 2023 we stayed at "Am Kanzleramt" in Berlin for the first time. We liked it there and that's why we went back there in March 2024. Unfortunately, it wasn't so great this time. Two days before arrival and on the day of arrival, we received an email saying that room xxx had been prepared for us. When we arrived, at 2 p.m., this was not the case. Check-in was only from 3 p.m. Okay, we understood the emails differently. We were offered another room. In this room, the toiletries were incomplete and the safe was not accessible. We complained about this at reception, and after about an hour a building technician came, but he couldn't open the safe either, saying that a required device was not available at the moment. So we moved to another room, where we discovered in the evening that the floor lamp was broken. A repair was carried out after 2 days. The box of makeup remover wipes was not filled, so we put the empty box on the sink in the bathroom so that room service could see straight away that it needed to be refilled. After room service, the box was still on the sink, so we had to go to room service on the floor and ask for new wipes.
But back to check-in. We lined up at the H Rewards desk, where we were directed to another place with the note "currently unoccupied". We were served by a young employee here, we later found out that he was an intern and had only been on the job for 2 weeks, who then asked for a credit card to book in advance, but then charged a significantly higher price. When we objected, he had to consult his boss first. This went back and forth several times until the young employee said that the boss would arrange everything to our satisfaction. The boss did not think it was necessary to come to the counter himself.
However, when we checked out, the booked price was correct.
For these grievances, we received a voucher for one drink from the counter manager, but we did not redeem it.
Otherwise, it should be noted that the breakfast was very satisfactory, but on two days after 10 a.m. the buffet was very thin and after several attempts to get bread, meatballs, etc., we missed the refill.
All of these experiences this time are not worthy of a Steigenberger. That is perhaps what you would expect in a *** star hotel.
We know that the hotel has not taken part in any classification, but likes to compare itself with a ***** star hotel, especially in terms of price.
We will let these experiences sink in and take this into account when making our decision on our next city trip.
1 star deduction for the poor service and 1 star deduction for failure to refill breakfast.

I don't believe there any any guest rooms on the first floor but you can check with the hotel...
Yes. In the bathroom. It was effective but I found it heavier than the one I use at home which prompted me to take my own on our most recent holiday.
Hello
The rooms are spacious and I’m confident that they can accommodate and put an extra bed in the superior double room. For a European hotel , the room size is very big. Great hotel too !
