We stayed there for 5 days with a friend and we were more than satisfied! Kristin is very nice and helpful! The room, bathroom and the hostel in general was always very clean and cosy. Breakfast is included and there is a wide range of choice. Location is also great, it is a very nice area of the city, also...

Me and my wife went to Berlin and had this amazing time with Kathrin and her staff. The room, number 7, had a big comfortable bed and a big window, so we could refresh the air inside. The place is cleaned in a regular basis and breakfast is really good, more than we were expecting. The surrounding area has everything...

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hostel for 7 nights and thought it was super. We were greeted by the lovely Kathrin who welcomed us, showed us around the hostel and gave us good advice on places to go and things to see. Lekkerurlaub is lovely, clean, comfortable and affordable. It's only a 5 minute walk away from the...

Overall this place was great but the most important thing to explain is that both room 4 and room 5 have beds that you need to get to by climbing (I'm not sure if this is the case in other rooms but it is worth enquiring). We stayed in room 4 which had steep stairs leading up to the bed...

One of the bests hostels I've been. Fast wi-fi, delicious breakfast and super tranquil atmosphere. Ideal if you're looking for a place to rest. Katheerine is a sweatheart and the neighborhood is nice as well.

I was very impressed with Kathrin and her wonderful hostel. It was exactly what I was looking for - something a bit different and an escape from the clinical box-like feel of so many budget hotels. The decor is lovely and quirky, it feels very clean and well-loved and my room was just amazing. I loved the bunk bed and...

The short of it: affordable, small rooms yet adequate, quiet and comfortable, clean shared bathrooms, personable host with good recommendations for local stuff, basic breakfast buffet included. Details: Looks like it used to be a cafe, now that space is just for the guests to hang out. Guest rooms are on the same floor as the cafe space. The cafe...

Our room was clean and tidy, and the breakfast buffet was varied ans tasty, but the highlights of our stay were by far the lovely owner and the fantastic location. We were made to feel so welcome, and the area of Berlin was beautiful, just quiet enough but with no shortage of great places to eat or get coffee. Wish...

I couldn´t have asked for a better place to stay during my solo trip to Berlin. The location is great, in a young and artsy (but also child friendly) part of Kreutzberg. Just walking the streets and feeling the atmosphere made me smile. As a female traveling alone, I never felt unsafe in the area, even after dark. I never...

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
