This hotel is certainly different from any I have stayed in before. The owner is a very flamboyant and talkative local lady, who you will most likely meet in the morning when she serves breakfast. She enjoys sitting down with the guests and entertaining them with stories from her life/history of Berlin. Btw - breakfast is great with a wide variety of rolls, cheeses, hams etc.
When we checked-in, we merely put in a code at the entrance of the hotel and got our key without meeting anyone personally. This I thought was a bit of a shame, because we announced beforehand the time we would be arriving. The rooms are clean and spacy with a unique design, although I have to mention several hairs I found on our pillows, which is something you don't want to see. The bathroom was clean with a fully functional shower, which was fixed to hold in place by a slightly improvised ear cleaner stick :D But it served it's purpose.
All in all I would recommend this hotel to outgoing people who...

After reading the reviews on TA we booked here and regretted it. 1.. It takes almost 30 minutes to get to downtown Berlin. 2. The room was very small. (85 Euros) and exciting in the dining room. The bathroom was down a narrow hallway. Breakfast was standard German, same every morning and served very late. We like to start early when we travel. At all the hotels where we stayed we got wonderful information, maps etc. However, the key was left in the mailbox for us, and we hardly ever saw the host. If you have business in Charlottenburg, then it would be ok to stay here , but ask for one of the front rooms. For visiting Berlin, it is not recommended. More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
