I stayed here with my girlfriend & we really enjoyed it after being 30 minutes away from the center. The lobby is open 24 hours, so if you need any assistance the staff are great & helpful. They have tons of beer to buy at a good cost. I liked this spot because it was more for young backpackers. You...

We stayed there for a week on summer 2012. The lounge is full of happy people and nice atmosphere but... they never go to sleep and we could hear them from our room all night long. all our applications to the staff were unhelpful. Furthermore, on saturday nights there's a danceclub just under your room! forget about sleeping. The twin...

The hostel is well located and the room are spacious. Showers are also clean. Breakfast is fare for the amount of money you pay. I would say that it is no luxury, but just what you need in a backpacking trip with friends.

Ok, be aware. This place may look nice, but it is a hole. The only good thing about this place was the average breakfast, kitchen area, and cheap beer. This place needs serious updating. The beds looked like they were from the orphanage where Annie used to live. Even the lockers didnt even lock...Scary! For two young woman, walking through...

I loved this hostel. The staff were super friendly, the beer is cheap, it's a party hostel! I originally intended staying just 1 night but extended my trip to 3 nights. I have to say that I found the area scary - you have to enter through a pitch black alleyway (!) and up a lot of stairs - as...

We stayed at Helter Skelter for three nights on our visit to Berlin. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was decent enough, a couple of lockers, 4 beds and a table and chair. The location of the hostel is great, right inside the city so you are close to a lot of the attractions and very...

We booked this hostel for the price (7 EUR per bed per night in a mixed dorm). The bathrooms were very clean. The staff was good-humored and helpful with directions. Smoking is allowed in the common room/lobby where one must pass through to get to the rooms, so the smell of smoke could not be avoided. Our room was just...

My second time of staying there and it was even better than last time. The staff are friendly and helpful. And pretty cool with their dreads and tats. It's walking distance to friedrichstraße and oranienburg station, about 2 minute walk. But you can walk to Brandenburg gate etc from the hostel anyway. Nice chilled atmosphere in the common room area,...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
