Location perfect for Uber Arena. I appreciated not being right next to craziness of the arena but it’s under a 5 min walk so super convenient. It’s also maybe about 10 min walk from the Ostbahnhof, so very convenient to trains.

I loved my River Suite with balcony overlooking the Spree - don’t miss the beautiful sunset! My room was on the 7th floor, occasionally heard loud music from the party boats and doors slamming from other guests but other than that, super quiet.

My room included a kitchenette with microwave/oven, fridge, induction stove and dishwasher. There was also a washing machine! Kitchen stocked with dishes/bowls/utensils/pots & pans. There was also an electric kettle and French press for coffee.

Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand soap are provided. Under the kitchen sink were detergent strips for the washing machine and also dish washing soap and sponge. There was also a packet of ground coffee, tea, milk packs and sugar.

There isn’t regular cleaning for stays under 7 days but you can pay extra if you wish for cleaning (I think it was 40€). You can leave your bin out for them to pick up the trash, and also anything else you might need is stocked at the 24 hour reception. I really loved this model because I liked not having people come into my room, but yet anything I wanted was easily accessible at the reception.

You can contact reception either via chat on their website once you check in, or via WhatsApp which you can get the number when you arrive.

There’s a cafe in the lobby and also a restaurant with seating overlooking it the river. The menu is small, though, but quite handy if you’re feeling lazy and not wanting to venture out.

Area around hotel can get quite busy due to its proximity to the East Side Gallery, but the park area immediately by the river is very peaceful to rest / watch the world go by as long as you distance yourself from big tour groups.

There are two supermarkets in the Ostbahnhof, REWE and Penny. REWE had more variety. Also a good variety of restaurants/cafes within walking distance. My favorite find was probably an outdoor area near the Ostbahnhof with a number of food trucks and plenty of seating. The two places I tried were Kaffee Bogota and Corndog Ninjas and both were excellent.

I saw some reviews complaining about service; keep in mind they are not a 5 star full service hotel, so this is not for you if you want daily cleaning, a spa and room service. I found it perfect for what I needed!

The room was really comfortable and laid out like a mini apartment. However there were a few things that made our stay incredibly inconvenient. We required ice for our drinks, but there was no ice tray or ice machine in the building. The cafe downstairs is not open for long enough so if you get up before 7:30 there’s no chance to grab a drink or a bite to eat. It’s also closed all of Sunday. For the price of this place, there needs to be somewhere you can get something to eat and drink outside of regular daytime hours.
We rode a scooter around and there’s nothing open but all night kebab shops. So no where to buy coffee or milk before 7:30am.
The room was very tidy, the bed extremely comfortable, good bathroom and good little kitchen. The balcony was filthy and I had to clean it myself with some wet toilet paper and soap so we could sit out there.
There is washers and dryers on-site, but only 2 of each so it’s a little difficult to get one that’s free to use. There is also nowhere to hang clothes that are not dryer friendly.
With a few small changes, this place could be brilliant, like having a vending machine with necessities or the cafe being open 24/7. Definitely need ice trays in the freezers or an ice machine somewhere.

Dear 238hello, many thanks for sharing your valuable feedback with us. We are glad to understand that you liked the apartment and our beds so much. We will share your feedback with our restaurant partner, so they can look into this and improve. We can also ensure you that we will speak to our housekeeping team, as you shouldn´t clean the balcony yourself, this is absolutely not our standard. It would be lovely to welcome you again. After staying at Locke Schwan in Munich it was a no brainer for us to stay at Locke again when we visited Berlin. Locke @ East Side Gallery exceeded our expectations. We had a small room with full kitchen. Locke staff will help you with any small issues - we had an issue with the oven and they came and fixed it in 5 mins. The rooms are reasonably well designed - they look great and use quality products. Sometimes we had questions on design decisions like a very tiny couch when a two seater would have fit, but this is personal preference. The location is really good, there are always people around the gallery which gives a lively but safe feeling. We especially enjoyedy taking a bottle of wine out to enjoy by the Spree. It is so close to public transport, enabling you to explore all that Berlin has to offer. You are less than 30 mins walk from Friedrichshain and we went out to eat here regularly. The room was immaculately clean with the exception of the outside balcony and glass windows - not a big deal but can obscure the view slightly.

Staff are great and speak excellent English. Check-in relies a lot on technology (wifi code and other introduction information are emailed to you after you check-in at reception), so if you're from out of country/continent and you don't have access to email, it might be a bit difficult. I'm not sure if the reception desk could just tell you your wifi password or not, as we didn't ask (my wife bought a european eSIM, so she was able to access the email).

The room was clean, though we did notice that something in the room irritated our noses (it would go away soon after leaving the hotel and start up again upon re-entering). Not sure if it was a perfume or cleaning agent, but it caused sneezing and sniffling, which wasn't great.

The hotel is quite modern in feel, including the room (sleek room design, heated mirror to prevent fogging, etc). The bathroom also had a nice design and layout, and was quite roomy. We stayed at five hotels in Switzerland and Germany, and this one by far had the best bathroom.

The room had a small balcony which we didn't use much but was still nice. There were some party goers by the river who made a bit of a ruckus until maybe 11pm, but it wasn't terrible.

There are a lot of restaurants within a 5 to 15 minute walk, and the train station is a close walk away as well.

Part of the Berlin wall (the "east side gallery memorial", hence the hotel's name) is preserved right outside the hotel as well (like, RIGHT outside the hotel).

Overall, would certainly stay here again.

We absolutely loved the setting and design of Locke. The balcony / cafe on the Spree is amazing. It is a great hotel for solo travelers and couples, and even though there was a crowd gathering and DJ playing at the cafe every night (we actually enjoyed that touch), the hotel setup is such that rooms are very quiet and we were not disturbed at all. The only consideration for improvement would be a more frequent room cleaning service; we stayed Mon-Sun and had no cleaning service in between. Otherwise loved everything about the experience and would stay again at a Locke hotel

Due to flight delay I arrived late but the hotel was expecting me and greeted me by name when I arrived and the check in was efficient and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. I am not the heaviest of sleepers and as I had a street facing room was a bit concerned I might have been disturbed by the road noise, this proved not be be the case and the heavy blackout curtains and the very comfortable bed ensured I had a good nights sleep during all of my stay. Inspected the room in more detail the next morning. The kitchen was well appointed with everything you would require even if you wanted to prepare most of your meals in the room, except possibly a microwave, but as that was not my plan this was not a problem for me and I had everything I needed to make the occasional breakfast. The bathroom was spacious and the shower excellent. The room itself was roomy with enough furniture to meet the needs of two people staying in the room. As I have said the large bed was comfortable. Everywhere was cleaned to a high standard. The hotel has a laundry room and a gym. If you do not want to make your own breakfast, there is a coffee shop available which seemed to do light snacks. There is a cocktail bar – not part of the hotel – and seating on the terrace by the river for evening drinks. I think the coffee shop and the cocktail bar may be connected. All the staff where friendly and helpful and this gave the hotel an agreeable atmosphere and made for a very pleasant experience.

The hotel has a very good location for transport with Berlin Ostbahnhof a few minutes walk and a bus that passes through central Berlin stopping just outside the hotel. The hotel is in the middle of the East side Gallery.
I would certainly recommend this place to friends and family if they were visiting Berlin.

This hotel was really great for our week long stay - the one bedroom open plan suite gave us loads of room, the kitchen was well equipped, the in-suite laundry was so convenient and the restaurant downstairs had delicious food (but not a huge menu).

Staff was really helpful on any issues, e.g. they resolved the cool room temperature by giving us a heater.

There are two transit stations (with grocery stores) in walking distance and the 300 bus goes right by the hotel which conveniently connects you to the central core of museums and many historic locations.

My only warning is that we could hear the bass from music at nearby venues (possibly across the river?) on the weekend nights but with earplugs it didn’t bother me.

All in all it was a nice stay. Good location, nice rooms with comfortable beds and the staff were very informative at check in, sent a WhatsApp message with places they would recommend which was useful. Also offered an umbrella to use for the duration. However, we were there for 3 days for my partners birthday and much to our dismay we were woken up every morning with horrendous noise of drilling that sounded like it was literally above our room. Whilst they were apologetic and offered free coffee and pastry, I didn’t buy the fact that they were only informed about the building work the day is started!! Had we known there was going to be building work on for the duration of our stay we would have booked elsewhere as it went on all day!! My advice, check when booking whether it’s now been completed.

Dear AngelajK4704NX, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your stay with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the drilling noise during your visit. We completely understand how frustrating this must have been. Unfortunately, as we are part of a shared building with multiple tenants, the work was conducted by another tenant, and we were only informed by the landlord on the same day it began. Had we been notified earlier, we would have communicated this to all our guests in advance, as we recognize how important such information is. We are truly sorry for the disruption this caused to your stay and deeply regret any discomfort it brought you. Kind regards, Team Locke

Located opposite the River Spree and on the east side gallery, the hotel is well connected by public transport (both bus and metro).
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need, plus on the -1 floor you have free laundry with washer and dryer.
The room with river view offers a truly suggestive panorama.
The only things I would have improved slightly are the cleaning and lighting of the rooms (on the bathroom mirror especially) but leaving that aside I highly recommend you choose Locke for your stay!

We stayed there from 05/16 to 23/2024.
Location: Ideally located on the emblematic site of the East Side Gallery bordered by the Spree. Not far from the Ostbahn and Warschauerstrasse ubahn stations, and near the hotel there is a stop for the very practical bus 300 which passes through the center of the city to go to Tiergarten.

. Located along the portion of the wall, the East Side Gallery is a success, quality decoration, with a bar terrace overlooking the Spree. And possibility of catering. Numerous possibilities for access to shops around (the very practical stores open very late in the basement of the Ostbahnhof until 11:00 p.m. for one and midnight for the other)

Our room, carefully decorated, located on the street side, but given the quality of the windows (triple glazing) a real cocoon. Very well equipped kitchenette (hob, combi oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. as well as all the necessary utensils. Quality bathroom. High quality bedding. Numerous electrical outlets.

For us, after busy days, it was a haven of peace and luxury that we returned to every evening.
The staff is very competent, attentive and above all very welcoming.

This was our 4th stay in Berlin, and the choice of Locke at East Side Gallery allowed us to have our best stay in this city dear to our heart.
Thank you to the whole team for this enchanting stay.
