Hotel is in save and clean surrounding with a lot of restaurants and bars. You may eat and drink nearly every kind of food. Vegetarian or beef, bear wine or juice..... Enjoy. The tram goes direct in front of the hotel. And yes it is noisy towards the street. You are downtown. Breakfast is good and recommended for this price,...

I recently stayed at this hotel with my teenaged son and his grandmother. I chose the hotel based on the fact that we had the option to add a cot for an additional cost, which I thought we might need if my mother-in-law joined us, which she did. This is a very comfortable, smaller hotel close to lots of good...

We have been here a few times and from time to time it gets even better! The location nearby the Berlin Wall and Alexandplatz is just faboulus!!!! The neighbourhood is safe and there is a lot of restaurants and activities nearby! The hotel itself is very very clean. The rooms are stylish and modern. In the upper part they will...

We enjoyed three nights at the Hotel Kastanienhof. The building is not new, but everything was updated and worked great. It was very comfortable and quiet at night. It was quite easy to find. We arrived at the Hauptbahnhof and took a local train two stops to Hackescher Market. Then it was super easy to get on tram M1 with a...

This hotel was centrally located and close to public transportation. They were very helpful with directions and using the tram. They also had a laundry service that was helpful since we had been traveling for a while. We highly recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed the Kastanienhof, located in East Berlin. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and well appointed. The breakfast was very good. We suggest requesting a room toward the back as there is a tram stop right out front. The tram, though, makes travel into Berlin to see the sights very easy; the hotel will sell you passes. There...

This is a small, family owned hotel in the former east Berlin, now a very trendy part of town. The area is a great place to experience cosmopolitan Berlin and to people-watch. A wide variety of restaurants are within easy walking distance. The hotel is right on a tram line, which is very convenient. However, rooms facing the street can...

The hotel is clean and kept up. Very comfortable. The location is nice. There's a tram stop almost in front of the hotel and you're very close to the center of town. I give it a four ratings instead of five because of their wifi wasn't working. I could connect, but it wouldn't give me access to the internet. I...

A friendly, well-run hotel with a really great location for experiencing a lively street in Prenzlauer Berg. Very reasonably priced (in May, anyway, it was a steal). Some may be disturbed by the passing trams outside if the windows are open, but we got used to it quickly and it was not a problem. Try the Macke Prinz bar only...

Inexpensive, comfortable, friendly staff, and the location on the edge of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg is unbeatable (despite the rampant yuppification of the area). Trams right outside the door, U bahn reasonably close, with many good food options nearby

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
