We take our students twice a year to Berlin and stay at Hotel Transit, we have tried others and this beats the rest hands down. It is, what you see is what you get! High to the ceilings and white walls with a splash of blue or red curtains depending on the rooms. Rooms vary in size according to the...

We got the last double in the hotel, which fills up on spring weekends and empties out on Sunday afternoon. It is clean, located close to a metro in Kreuzberg (a short subway ride from many Berlin tourist spots), and comes with an excellent breakfast. The desk staff was helpful and pleasant. The hotel is funky in an industrial way,...

Booked a double room for myself and my girlfriend. The price came out to about $186 Euros for three nights so very reasonable. The room and bathroom were clean and beds comfy. The common area is really nice and a cool place to hang out. The breakfast was also really great. My only criticism was that our room was really...

This hotel is excellent! The staff are incredibly helpful. Excellent value for money and great breakfast. Great location. Everything about this place was great! Nice chill out area. Funky design. If you're looking for a good pub, head to Distille across the road - probably not suitable for people who do not like smoking! You will not be disappointed here.

I first stayed at the Hotel Transit in 1992, months after they first opened the doors... and each experience has been overwhelmingly positive! I always have a lovely time here, the staff is agreeable and friendly and willing to provide information about Berlin, and the breakfast is fantastic, available until 12pm! The location in Kruezberg can't be beat and each...

We had a fantastic stay in the Transit Hotel in berlin recently. The rooms are small, but neat and clean and cosy. We had a fantastic balcony. It is central and situated in a lovely area... close to the U-bahn. The communal area is also really cosy and the staff friendly and helpful!

Staying with 60 degree students at this hotel proved to be a very good choice. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms clean and decent simple breakfeast. Students had a large communal room which they were able to use even bring their own food in. If I remember right there was a small lift so ended up using stairs a lot...

If you do not mind basic (no TV or Mini bar) but want a clean (very clean) place to stay central Berlin then this is ideal. Very friendly, good European breakfast, nice ambient in the bar/reception - perfect.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.

“The rooms are hot during the summer. Bring a small portable fan and you will be happy that you read this tip! There is an amazing ice-cream parlor "vanilla & marille" across the street (near the fruit shop) TRY IT!! they make heavenly ice-cream - one scoop for 1€ (you can also taste before buying - so you know what you are ordering)”
