Detailed Reviews
A lovely hotel on a busy road with plenty of eateries near by.
Transport links are excellent as the U7/8 as well as buses are within 100m of the front door. The U- bahn and S-bahn are generally easy to use and great for getting around.
The hotel is opposite the Volkspark Hasenheide and is above a small cafe and Conrad Electricals. There is a piece of the Berlin Wall outside the entrance which leads to the lift which takes you up to reception. The guys on reception are exceptionally helpful so if you have any questions just ask them!
Off reception is the dining room, bar and outside area. Everything is clean and distanced. The outside area is small but a welcome cool place in the evening to enjoy a beer. Or two. Just beware the millions of wasps.
The room we had was for 3 adults and came with a double bed and separate single bed room which gives nice privacy. The room was spacious and light up on the 5th floor with a park view. Two minus points are the lack of air con in Berlin's 30°+ heat or a safe in the room. There are fans available which help no end and any valuables can be stored in the reception safe at no cost.
Breakfast was included and is the usual continental although no buffet so everything is brought to you. You can ask for whatever isn't on the plate and if they have it they'll bring it.
All in all, this is and exceptionally good budget option where you see more of the 'real' South Berlin but are within the commute to the tourist attractions.
You could do worse than staying at the Ludwig Van Beethoven.

We were a group of 4 traveling to Berlin for the first time and had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Ludwig. It is the perfect location for all of your exploring needs and the breakfast that is included is top notch. Very spacious room for 4 people and the bathroom was very large as well, we did not feel cramped and rested well. Thank you!

The hotel looks grotty from the outside and occupies the second floor and above over an electrical retailer store. But don't be put off, inside, the hotel is smart and clean and we had a room at the back of the hotel away from the busy main road at the front. Breakfast was included and was a typical continental style although extras liked scrambled egg or yoghurt could be ordered without charge. The room was a little tired but had one drawback. Even though it was at the back of the hotel, we were woken up each morning at 6.30 by delivery men and loud voices from the electrical store below, which echoed around the back of the building. Overall, we had a great stay with some good local restaurants to the right as you leave the hotel. We would certainly return for our next visit.

Hotel Beethoven is a nice hotel with friendly peoples behind the front desk. Because of the location is easy to find it and there is enough (free) parking places behind the hotel. I strongly recommend to take the breakfast at the hotel you have several choices even vegan is served! In the case of nice weather you can eat outside in the garden as well. Our room (2 adults and a child of 14) was big and clean and even we had windows at the street side it was really quite. The other side of the street is a park. From the hotel you walk 3 min to the metro station Hermanplatz and then you take the metro to Alexenaderplatz. There you are in the centre of Berlijn. Tickets are 3,20 for adults and children till 14 free.

Dear Guest (mt27288), thank you very much for your positive review and feedback about your stay at Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven in Berlin-Kreuzberg. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's wonderful to hear that you found our hotel beautiful and that our reception team was friendly. The convenient location of our hotel makes it easy to reach, and we offer a limited number of free parking spaces behind the hotel. We're glad to know that you highly recommend our breakfast buffet. We strive to provide a variety of options, including vegan choices. In nice weather, you can also enjoy breakfast on our rooftop terrace. Our rooms are spacious and clean, and we're excited to hear that you felt comfortable during your stay. The proximity to “Hasenheide” Park, just across the street in the Berlin-Neukölln district, offers a great opportunity for walks and relaxation. The Hermannplatz subway station is just a 3-minute walk from the hotel, providing easy access to Alexanderplatz and other neighborhoods. This allows for convenient transportation to the city center of Berlin. Thank you again for your positive review and recommendation. We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel on your next visit to Berlin. Best regards, Ronny Stößer

Perfect location for short trip to see band performing just right across the street in Huxleys Neue Welt. Easy to arrive from airport by nus and metro. Descent rooms, good service at the reception, average but good breakfast, Location near metro station allows you to reach central Berlin easily as well.

Staff at the Ludwig Van Beethoven Hotel was friendly, down to earth, and professional - all at the same time.
Breakfast was abundant and sufficient.
The room had no air conditioning, and no refrigerator in it, both of which would be truly appreciated, but...considering the cost, I really cannot complain.
I recommend this hotel to all who want to combine a very attractive location with a very favorable price,

I booked a single room. In the bathroom I found: the bin bag was still full by previous guest's rubbish, the available toilet paper was an almost finished roll (clearly, what was just left by the previous guest) and looking at surfaces in favour of light on the WC lid, on the glass shower doors and in between rails where the shower doors slide, I did have the doubt they cleaned too poorly my room. I even found a black hair in the nearby of the hairdryer. I went back to the receptionist, who kindly came up with me. After few checks, she confirmed the room was cleaned but the cleaners "just forgot to change the bin bag". I could not say much at the point, but for sure that bathroom was not cleaned up to normal standard.
Moreover, the room was cold. None of the heaters was functioning nor you could turn them on. The location and breakfast was perfect, but the actual stay in the room was very poor.

The advert shows a flashy exterior shot, first warning went nup! I could not find a place that matched the imagine in Expedia's ad. Warning Number 2 went up when the elevator inside the door only would take you to the lobby, red flag this neighborhood is unsafe. Third flag went up when I went to my rented room on the top floor and there inside this rather small room nwas a fan, no air conditioning directly under the hot roof so the windows must remain opened and the noise filtered in to distrupt and chance of an early sleep. Find anotrher hotel! Also make sure of your reservation my second booking for the fiollowing week was a no cancel reservation at the whim of the hotel! I lost 189.00 but still chose to not stay at this hotel, the place gave me the creeps. It's only redeeming quality is that it is 200 meters to the Metro but watch your belongs this is not one of berlin's better neighborhoods.

Dear 0ev1srj4yw, We deeply regret that your stay at our Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven did not meet your expectations. Ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests is our top priority, and we take your feedback very seriously. We want to clarify that guest safety is paramount to us, and the necessity to switch elevators is part of our security measures to ensure that only guests have access to the residential floors. We apologize if this caused you any discomfort. Regarding room amenities, including the provision of fans instead of air conditioning, we aim to balance comfort with environmental considerations. However, we understand that the heat during your stay led to an uncomfortable experience, and we regret this deeply. Regarding your comments on our cancellation policy, we wish to clarify that the non-cancel lability of reservations is not subject to the hotel's mood. We always offer a cancellable rate as well. It would be unfair to guests who choose this more flexible rate to offer the same conditions for non-cancellable rates. The location of our hotel near the subway is usually a valued convenience, and we regret that it was not perceived positively in your case. We are continuously working to improve our guests' experiences, and your feedback is instrumental in this process. Best regards, Ronny Stößer

Very well looked after. The hotel is a little way from the city centre but close to the underground network.. There are lots of restaurants and bars in the area of a varied and good standard - in four evenings we ate Italian, Vietnamese, German and Greek.
We had lots of problems getting our luggage at the airport on arrival and thus arrived late at the hotel, but the staff were very helpful throughout. Rooms at the back will be quieter than the main street, but they were comfortable and everything worked. A good choice of options at breakfast which were catered for seamlessly.
And the artwork throughout the hotel is fascinating - don't just stick to the lift but have a walk up and down the stairway as there is always something new to see.

Dear Guest,
we don´t have fridge in the room, but if you want to cool something, you can give us on the reception and we cool it for you.
In the room you find shampoo and if you need same shaver or a toothbrush, come or so to the reception there you get it for free.
Best regards

Yes for sure, there's additional beds for the rooms so just mention when you book.
I went from Stansted to Schonefeld airport, bought a Berlin Card for 3-days duration, took the train to the underground station just a few hundred meters from the hotel. The Berlin card can assist with reduced priced attractions and restaurants etc. Worth getting. Public transport in Berlin is very good, above ground trains, underground and trams all superb and efficient.
Dear customer, there are a few good and not expensive restaurants in our neighbourhood. On our homepage you can find a list of our recommendations.
We are looking forward to welcome you and wish you a safe travel.
