Grand Hyatt Berlin earns high marks for its attentive service, with staff going the extra mile for special occasions, though some guests have reported mixed experiences. The hotel's location is widely celebrated for its proximity to local attractions and public transport, making it a convenient base for exploring Berlin. While the rooms are praised for their comfort and modern style, opinions on value and room views vary, with some travelers finding the extras overpriced. The hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including the spa and pool, consistently receive accolades.

Our first trip to Germany, and we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Berlin for the entire time of our vacation, more than 3 1/2 weeks. With such a long stay, we had a lot of time to thoroughly evaluate the hotel.
The short version is that this is one of the world's great Hyatt hotels, and ties with the Park Hyatt NYC, the Hyatt on the Bund (Shanghai), and the Huntington Beach Resort & Spa in terms of the excellence of its facilities and service. We will definitely be back.

The Grand Hyatt Berlin has a natural advantage simply in its location: it's right next to Potsdamer Platz, which provides convenient subway/train service to most any place you would want to go in Berlin. And it's just a few steps away from the Tiergarten, the "green lung" of Berlin that is the German equivalent of Central Park in NYC You can easily walk to the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, Museum Island, the Espionage Museum, and innumerable other sights from the hotel. The hotel is surrounded by affordable restaurants. For an authentic German experience, .order one of the food platters from nearby Pauliner brewery. For an authentic American (but nonetheless delicious) experience, buy one of the superb burgers from nearby Burgermeister.

The Grand Hyatt Berlin offers a wealth of benefits for Globalists. My family loved the daily breakfast, which offered a huge spread of delicious foods, along with made-to-order omelets, eggs, and crepes (if you have kids, have them try the Nutella crepe.) In the evenings, the club offered Globalists a "cocktail hour" that included dinner foods, wine, and a really superior Hefeweizen. The club is staffed by gracious, efficient hosts.

The hotel has a huge health club, a lukewarm hot tub, and a very cold (to Americans) swimming pool. On the hottest days of our stay, we enjoyed these amenities and met some very nice German folks while socializing there.

Pro tips for first timers to Berlin, especially if you have family:
1) yeah, this is the hotel you want, especially if you have Hyatt status
2) take the train from nearby Potsdamer Platz to Wansee. If you are at all fit, do the long hike from Wansee to Potsdam. Download the "Komoot" app to find some fantastic hiking routes.
3) Kids will love the nearby Deutsches Technikmuseum (German Museum of Technology) and
Deutsches Spionagemuseum Berlin (German Spy Museum Berlin)
4) If you are staying more than a week consider buying an annual pass to Museum Island and the wonderful Berlin Zoo.

We booked 2 Grand Club rooms for our stay for a break in Berlin which we are enjoying at present.

The hotel is splendid and we found it to be handling COVID-19 regulations perfectly.

The swimming pool and spa are open but limited to a certain amount of people at a time, therefore you have to book your slot if you want to enjoy the facilities. There is an outdoor sun terrace which is also very nice but could do with a few more shades just now.

Having Grand Club facilities is excellent value for as there is a short time in the afternoon where you can enjoy coffee and cake and in the evening there is cocktail hour from 6-8pm where a chef cooks mall snacks and you can enjoy a wine or beer. Breakfast is served in Vox restaurant which has great choices with all the staff doing so well to serve you in such difficult circumstances

The highlight of our stay has been the staff in the Grand Club. Cordelia, the delightful lady in charge, as well as Marie, Antonie and the rest of the staff have served with great professionalism every evening looking after our needs all extremely well. Thank you girlsđź‘Ś

Our rooms were perfect with everything required for our stay. Housekeeping is every 3 days but it can be requested at intervals of your choice. The rooms were cleaned to an exemplary standard with delightful toiletries and amenities including free bottled water.

The hotel is in the centre of the city with great transport options all around.

All in all we have found The Grand Hyatt to be perfect in every way, location, rooms are great and the staff are the ones who have made our stay fantastic so far in such difficult times.

Thanks

We stayed in the Grand Hyatt Berlin for a long weekend, the hotel is an excellent 5 start very comfortable, generous breakfast. This location at Potsdamer opposite The Sony Center is convent for the subway, trains and buses as well as the restaurants in the Potsdamer area. Highly recommend it.

The hotel staff have tried to charge me for an additional nites stay due to my room needing maintenance after I checked out, we are not aware of any maintenance needed and they are refusing to give me any more information on this.
I also paid extra for a view, the room I was in looked straight against another building.
We were over charged for wrongly supplied room service & when we asked about this on the bill they could not “understand” us to facilitate our complaint.

The Grand Hyatt is a big hotel which is reasonably well located in Berlin. The rooms are quite modern with the usual Grand Hyatt style bathroom and shower in one enclosed area - which is really useful.

The bar is also very well equipped with whisky and drinks and is a good place to relax after a day's work.

This is a good hotel for business stays but I may not choose it for holidays or with family as it does lack a certain personality or character - it is more catered for tour groups or for business travellers.

Booking & Check In
Booked directly on hyatt.com on cash for a Standard King. We were upgraded to a Grand Executive Suite at check in. Check in was both thorough and efficient and set the tone for a lovely stay.

Hotel & location
The hotel felt similar to other Grand Hyatt’s we’ve been to in Europe, which feel a bit nicer overall than in the USA. The gym was open though it was a bit annoying in requiring reservations and only a few people were allowed in at once. The location was also great, a quiet strip in a major city near a lot of attractions and a beautiful large park.

Room
The room was a smidge dated, but overall it was very nice and plenty large for two people. The bathroom was exceptional, on the level of some PHs we’ve stayed at. The only problem was that the air conditioning was weak (we had similar issues in other Germany hotels during our trip, it was well over 80f each day for our trip). I realize this isn’t unheard of in Europe, but it was warm enough that sleeping was tough even without covers. The hotel didn’t have much assistance to offer, but fortunately the windows can be fully opened (many hotels limit open distance) and you can get a nice breeze. I also bought a fan for 20 euro at a nearby convenience store that got the job done.

Service
I was pleasantly surprised Globalist breakfast included room service and had those convenient menus you order on and hang on your door the night before. The breakfast was very good each morning.

Conclusion
Aside from meh A/C, we had a delightful stay at this property. It was a great value for the price, especially with the Globalist benefits factored in.

Dear manchesterUnited08, I sincerely thank you for having chosen to stay with us and also for having taken the time to share your detailed review here on TripAdvisor. It is great that you felt comfortable during check-in and that you also enjoyed a room upgrade. I am also happy that the location was to your entire satisfaction and it sounds like you visited a lot of interesting places. Furthermore, I am happy that you took the time to use our Club Olympus Spa & Fitness and even though you didn´t like our reservation policy, I hope you understand that we have to take Covid-19 measures like this to ensure a maximal amount of guests at the spa and gym. Regarding the room: Thank you also for your feedback here. I was delighted to read that you like the design of the room and that the bathroom met your needs. The more I regret the air condition caused so many problems and that it also influences the quality of your sleep. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. The more I am happy that the quality of the breakfast was to your expectations and the room service was to your entire satisfaction. It would be a pleasure for all of us to welcome you back soon. This is a modern hotel in the Potsdamer Platz area in Berlin, which, in my opinion is ideal for business people and those who want to be near to the Berlin Philharmonie. Other than that, the immediate surrounding area is rather boring.

Check-in was ok. The room was not ready when I arrived. They said "wait 10 minutes", but eventually, it took 30 minutes or so.

The room I had was generally modern, large enough and functional. The bed mattress was firm enough, which I needed. Shower and toilets were all in working order.

Housekeeping was extremely inconsistent. There were days when everything was done properly, but there were days when nothing was done to expectations. So for example, on one morning, the ridiculous housekeeping staff did not replenish any of the toiletries, towels, etc.

Breakfast on the first morning was a nightmare! No seats available. There was an event nearby and the hotel was almost at full occupancy and clearly, the restaurant could not cope. Staff tried their best but it was most unpleasant.

I used the Club Lounge daily. Way too small during the peak hours (evening cocktails). Limited food options. Quality of food very average.

Ate at the Vox restaurant and the other hotel restaurant for dinner and lunch respectively. Service level was poor. Took the staff forever to serve the food, despite the fact that the restaurant was not crowded at all when I was there.

All in all, for the price you have to pay, this hotel is a let down.

Dear JasonC6944, thank you so much for having chosen to stay with us and for having taken the time to write this detailed review. I regret that the first expectation of the hotel was, to wait for your room. After a long journey, nothing is better than to arrive in a clean room to have some rest. We couldn´t provide you with this feeling and I hope that you will accept my sincere apologies for that. I also regret the inconveniences regarding the housekeeping, the circumstances at Vox Restaurant during breakfast and the experienced that you had to make at our Club Lounge. This does not reflect the high standards that we always try to thrive here at Grand Hyatt Berlin. Your stay with us was anything but perfect, so please rest assured that I will talk to the team internally in order to improve our overall performance. Nevertheless, I hope that you spent some unforgettable days in the capital of Germany and that you will give us another chance in the future. Should you have any questions or wishes for your next stay, we are always there for you. Best regards, Jan Peter van der Ree General Manager

I have only good words to say about the experience my wife and I had at your hotel, the staff was really great, welcoming to every request for help, and on my wife's birthday we got nice attention from the hotel. The hotel itself is in a great central location near the Sony Center, about five minutes walk from the mall of Berlin and two minutes walk from a central train station. We also gained when we were upgraded at the room level. Just a great experience, a great spa complex with two saunas and a hot tub, a very nice pool.
No doubt highly recommended and will be back again

I’m a bit surprised that everyone seems to be so excited about this hotel. I enjoyed my stay but I’m not sure it’s great value and I’m not a fan of the location. The two biggest pluses are the staff and the aesthetic. All staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, and it felt like they really care about their guests and want to make their stay enjoyable. The decoration of the lobby and the corridors is also very appealing with art works and a relaxing color scheme. Our room was nice and quite big but with some strange aspects. For example, the corridor and bathroom seemed to take up about half the space, reducing living space, though it made the shower very nice and spacious. A little more attention to detail would be good too, e.g., the closet door always made a banging sound, it was impossible not to splash all over the sink, and there was no toiletry kit.
The biggest disappointment was undoubtedly the view. At just eight floors, the hotel is not particularly high, and our view from the sixth floor was mostly of the ugly casino across the street. We asked to change rooms, and were given one with an unobstructed view, which was better, but really, the view is not a major feature of this property.
I was also not crazy about the location. Potsdamer Platz is a major upscale development in Berlin but it feels glitzy and artificial with none of the charm that makes Berlin interesting. It is convenient to transport and shopping but so are many other places in Berlin. Finally, the breakfast was good quality with coffee brought to the table and eggs cooked to order, but the selection was limited, no comparison to five-star hotels in major Asian cities. We stayed over New Year’s so our rate was higher than average (380 Euros per night up to New Year’s Eve vs. 280 on our last night), but even at the more modest rate, I would consider this property just okay in terms of value. Overall, we weren’t unhappy with our stay but will probably stay somewhere else next time.

Dear melbguy, greetings from Grand Hyatt Berlin and many thanks for having taken the time to write this detailed review. I am glad to read that the friendliness and the service of the team were to your entire satisfaction and that you also enjoyed our decoration as well as the quality of the breakfast buffet. However, I also read your remark regarding the facilities in your room, the view from your window, the selection of the breakfast buffet and the location. I regret that we were not able to live up to your expectations at so many points and I understand your disappointment. I really hope you will accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. You quietly right expected something more from a hotel like ours and we couldn´t provide that to you. Please do not hesitate to contact the team next time and they will show you another room category that might have a view, which would meet your needs. Also, should you wish to have a bigger selection of breakfast, do not hesitate to contact us prior to your next arrival and we would love to prepare the things you like to have for you. Modern hotel within walking distance of the main sites. Lovely rooms - well designed and kept beautifully clean. Highlight of the hotel is the rooftop pool and spa. Service was friendly and excellent. We took room only as whilst the breakfast looked very nice it was a lot more expensive to add this to the room rate. Good coffee and breakfasts can be found at the barn, 2 minute walk from the hotel.

We picked the wrong train tickets and got fined E60 each on our first hour in Berlin, exhausted from the airport. It was a bad experience and did not like the way they treated unknowing tourists (our passports were confiscated and our whole family, including children, lined up and being instigated.

1. Daily from 7:00am to 9:00pm. 2. Both are available 3. Very fresh and clean. Top notch! 4. Don't remember, but there is no need for that. AC is great and the rooms are clean and smell good. 5. The traffic on the north side could be a bit heavy, but the other directions are nice, quiet and cosy with some good restaurants nearby.
