Small rooms, no mini bar, no coffee making corner, no air conditioning, only radiator, no telephone to call reception. We arrived with suitcases and a baby carriage and we had to go up the stairs to get to the room. There is no easy access to the room.

Plus: Location, metro station right outside, friendly stuff, wifi, price Minus: Small rooms, limited lounge space Very good choice for a short budget stay. Very close to the centre of the city. You can walk to Alexanderplatz in 10-15 minutes. A pub right next to it, is ideal for a beer after a long day of walking...

All in all the I was very satisfied with everything. The location of the hotel is one of the best you can get. There is a S-Bahn and tram station right infornt of the entrance, but you can easily walk the distance to the city centre and a lot of Berlin's sights. The rooms are very nice and clean, the...

Since early childhood, Berlin has always held some form of attraction for me. We arrived in Berlin after a full day on the train from Warsaw. A very helpful taxi driver saw to it that we arrived safely at our hotel in Mitte. It is ideally situated for walking to most of the worthwhile attractions in this modern well run...

The hotel is in Mitte so it's quite near a lot of destinations. The subway and tram right at your doorstep. Walking distance to Friedrichstrasse. The hotel look is ok as what you would expect on this price range. You can hear people on the corridor though and our room is perfectly open to a business building neighbour. No white...

For people who love walking in center area of Berlin, it's a great hotel. Very good rooms for families with 2-3 kids. Also I see they have rooms as hostel for young people larger groups. Oaraninburg street not so attractive, but possibilities to take trams or subway trains in front of the hotel, or go walking to Friedrich Station and...

Let's start with the bad...the rooms are tiny, and I wasn't greatly impressed with their coffee. But... It's clean, it has a good atmosphere (buzzing), staff are helpful and friendly. Close to local eateries and museums. We walked to most places front he hotel so it's in a very central location. The water pressure is good which is unusual for...

Beeing a citytraveller I can really recommend this hotell. The rates are affordable and the quality is good. The rooms are clean and the breakfast ok. This is a hosteltype of hotel which means a lot if young people, but the nights were surprisingly quiet and peaceful. As the location also is good, a metrostation could be found a couple...

We booked this hotel as we had to get up at 4am for an early morning flight. We may as well have 'slept' in the airport as there was constant noise - shouting and screaming from the floors below. When we left at 4am, there was a large group of people shouting on the 1st floor with apparently no regard...

We slept here with a few student (13). The prices are good and the comfort is nice. The furniture is pretty modern and clean. The bathroom was small but practical. The staff is also polite and helpfull. The breakfast is basic but good enough. I would recommend this hotel.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The MEININGER Hotel Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus is located exactly where others flock to: in the bubbly Berlin Mitte district on Oranienburger Strasse. Alexander von Humboldt lived here once, and this modern and low-cost hotel has retained the spirit of this polymath. DaWanda designers helped design each hotel room individually. People from all over the world meet in the hotel bar, lounge, guest kitchen and inner courtyard. ... more   less
