It is a nice hotel just in the center of (former East) Berlin within a walking distance from many sights. The rooms are a bit small but the bathroom is new and spacious. There are many modern artwork at the lounge and other area of the hotel. They charge the internet use in reasonable cost. The breakfast was excellent.

Gorgeous lobby and hallways. Found a great deal online, about 160 euros a night, including a dinner at the bistro (fantastic!!!) and a cocktail at the bar (also great). The rooms are relatively roomy for business boutique hotels, very modern and clean. The only downside was that you have to get Wifi via T-Mobile's Hotspot service (expensive, unless you're going...

Like living inside a funky art gallery, but with all the amenities. Pool and gym, internet, bars, restaurants, and it is close to subway and major sites. We stayed for four nights and loved the convenience of the place, both from a business point of view and for proximity to sites/transportation.

Stayed just one night so was not able to sample all the hotel had to offer. Checkin staff were friendly and superquick. Room was clean with nice touches - Lindt chocs on pillows (plus a stray one under the pillow) and folded bathrobes on each bed. Toiletries are soso, with two big shower-gel dispensers, one by the washbasin and the...

As the name suggests, the hotel looks more like an Art Gallery!..Well located, the hotel is a short walk from Brandenburg gate, the Dome and other attractions. The service was quite nice and breakfast was sumptuous. Thought they offered internet access in the lobby, but I found it slightly expensive. The hotel has a nice facade is also connected by...

We stayed at the Maritim Pro Arte in early August 2008. It is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Berlin near a major train and U-bahn station. You can take the S-bahn from the airport right to the hotel. It is a two minute walk from the station to the hotel. Likewise you are one station away from the...

I stayed here for 4 nights in August and was very pleased with my choice of hotel. I went to Berlin in 2004 and stayed at the Crowne Plaza near the Kurfurstenstrasse, although a very nice hotel, it's a bit far if you want to see the historic part rather than the shopping area. The Maritim proarte is in a...

There is really nothing to be worried about seeing where the Maritim Pro Arte is in the League table of Berlin Hotels. It's a two minute walk from Fredrichstrasse station (underground and surburban trains) in what was the old East of the City. Plenty of building work going on, but not a problem. Plenty of shops/small supermarkets/food outlets around. One...

I stayed at the Maritim pro Arte in Berlin for a week on business. It is very clean, modern and in an excellent location. It is just down the street from the S-Bahn train - Freidrichstrasse Station. It is within walking distance to all the major sights. The staff is courteous, helpful and they speak excellent English. The breakfast buffet...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
