Detailed Reviews
The hotel has seen better days, with the interior feeling dated, the faucets scratched from decades of cleaning - which has the good result of the hotel being clean.
It could use more power outlets on the working table.
The breakfast is the downer of the day: while the buffet offers a good enough selection, it is crowded with numerous retirees taking their time to closely look at all the wonders on offer. in addition, the room has virtually no daylight, and with its low ceiling just makes you wish to get out as fast as you can.

Very nice hotel, close to transportation, shops and restaurants. We had a suite -bedroom, living room with large desk area, and coffee maker. There was a bar refrigerator in the room which had sufficient space for us to keep some of our own food items refrigerated. Housekeeping did a good job of cleaning and making up the room, but replenishment was a bit sketchy at times. Breakfast was included with a large breakfast bar with a large selection of varied items. The bar-restaurant called Checkpoint Charlie was adequate, food just OK, with the highlight being the robotic waiter.
Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating.

Top location pretty central for most attractions. Rooms comfy and top facilities, bar plus restaurants, pool and saunas. Late checkout was reasonably priced too, stayed at a couple of Maritim hotels now and find them to be great value.

The Maritime hotel is able to welcome many guests in all sort of rooms. Checking in in this hotel takes a considerable amount of time because all the data needs to be processed by the front desk. So you need to wait in line for 10 - 15 mins minimum.
The rooms are spacious enough, beds are ok, and fairly comfortable seats. The internet cable which is available in the room, does not work. Calling to the front desk is useless as they say it is your equipment which is restricted to have internet cables connected. The guest wifi is not even worth the effort connecting to. And should you be able to connect, most of the times you do not have internet.
The bathroom looks clean, however the previous quest was (I believe) a blond long hair lady, because there were still lots of hairs on the floor of the bathroom, so far the hygiene.
I stayed 2 nights, in the morning when I left at 08:05 I heard a noise which appeared someone knocking very silently on the door and saying Housekeeping. Before I knew it, they opened the door. You understand I was not that amused by this action…..
Breakfast of this hotel is not even worth the high amount of money you need to pay. You are allowed to tap your coffee out of a machine yourself, there is no real butter available, instead of that coming out of some sort of a “ butter machine” and the bread was tastless, juice drinks are only available in tiny small glasses. I skipped the second morning of breakfast and I went to the bakery around the corner. Much cheaper, much more tastier and no hunger afterwards.
Having a drink at the bar of this hotel at late night you need to ask the personel upfront if they are in a good mood, if you don’t, please be aware the service could be somehow disappointing.
Too bad, my next visit to Berlin I will stay in a different hotel.

We are a couple who travels a lot, all over the world; we stay always in high quality, reliable hotels. Now we were misled by the promises from website of Maritim Berlin.
Our expectation was far higher than the reality. We stayed from Wed to Saturday in March 2022. We chose the Maritim because of its promises on its website. Only good thing which was realized was the location in the downtown. Rest of the promises were not met.
When arrived there, the queues at the front desk were long and slow. Only two persons working at front desk, the other one with unhappy “East-German” attitude. The long queues and slow Front Desk seemed to continue during all our stay every time we went by the Front Desk.
We were told during the check in that the Sauna, advertised in the website, is in repair and no knowledge when is it finish. I do not think so. I know when I am lied to. The sauna was not in repair. Even if it was, would it be too much asked to mention this on your website?
The AC was off; we were told that because of the cold weather. At nights it was around 0 deg C. What do you do when it is much colder? The ventilation was on minimum or off, so all steam in the bathroom stayed in long after the shower. Also during the nights, the room air was hard to breath because of the low ventilation. For the steam problem, we were advised to have window open. Interesting and bad suggestion.
On Friday our room was not cleaned at all. Called Front Desk and after long talk a lady came to our room, emptied rubbish bins, changed the towels and did nothing else. No apology from anyone.
When in the evening I tried to watch TV and change channels the remote didn’t work, called the front desk and they said, come here downstairs to get new batteries. I was astonished for this suggestion! At late hour I need to get dressed and go downstairs to repair their wrongdoings! Just anther proof of bad attitude and extremely bad management of the hotel.
If I was the General Manager of the Hotel, I would not be proud of my hotel, of my work or of my staff.
Because of all this above, we will not come back to Maritime Berlin Mitte. We will never recommend this hotel to others either

Old hotel with outdated rooms needing refurbishment. Reception staff very rude and unfriendly, (especially Mrs W. - front desk manager) Arrived at 13.30 and was refused check in unless I would pay 19 Euros extra for “early checkin” despite apparently plenty of rooms available. Clearly money grab. Location is good but definitely not a 4 star hotel. Avoid at all cost.

We stayed here because it was included in our Road Scholar multi day Berlin tour.
Great first impression.
The beautiful, sleek lobby full of large works of eye catching art really reflected the energized, artsy, sophisticated feel of Berlin of today. In fact, there was exciting, thought provoking art throughout the public spaces of the hotel.
We were thrilled to not only discover that we could check in about 4 hours early but also, when we went out to explore, how wonderfully walkably near points of interest, restaurants and the train station are.
The incredible breakfast buffet is the best I have ever experienced with it's huge selection of mouthwatering offerings and a very alert, helpful staff.
Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom had great lighting and water pressure.
BUT THAT BATHTUB!!!!! It was the HIGHEST and most dangerous bathtub I have ever bathed in. One needed to be a high jumper with perfect balance to easily get in and out of it. I am of medium height. My partner is quite a bit taller. Both of us (active, physically fit seniors) really felt insecure hoisting our legs sky high with nothing to grab on to when we entered and excited the tub.
We learned fellow traveler requested a room with a shower. Perhaps we will follow her lead next time
And there will be a next time. We really enjoyed this hotel and hope to stay there when we revisit Berlin.

Dear guest, we are very pleased about your review. Thank you very much! We know about the fact of being a little bit dated when it comes to the bathtub. At the moment we are running several project to update the hotel rooms. Replacing the bathtub with a shower will be a bigger project with a lot of time to plan and a high investment. Therefore we kindly ask you for your understanding that this might take a longer time to fulfil your suggestion of improvement. Nevertheless we thank you for this suggestion. We would be happy to welcome you again in our hotel. With kind regards Maritim proArte Hotel Berlin Management

The room was too hot to sleep and the aircon didn't work. We had to sleep with the window wide open but was woken up at 7am by the window cleaner. As it was so hot I had no covers on so it was pretty shocking to wake up to him practically inside the room. The hotel really need to warn guests when the windows are being cleaned. We were here for the marathon but got zero sleep as it was so hot and stuffy. On check out day the cleaners entered our room 4 times this was really annoying. The location was really good that was the only positive.

I've been there in September 2020. Room was not very clean, hairs on bed and toilet (I'm bold). Bed sheets discovered dirty. The swimming pool is ridiculously small, the water stream in the corner of the pool didn't work and the water laminar massage at the opposite corner didn't work also. And I have been asked to pay 133,40 instead of the 113,40 (all included on booking.com), no answer from the hotel until now.

Just back from a 4 day stay at the hotel. Lots of very good points about the hotel. Firstly the location is excellent. Just beside the train station (Friedrichstrabe) which is a 30 minute journey from Airport. It is within walking distance of many of the sights and plenty of restaurants. The room had everything you need and bed was big and very comfortable. Everything was very clean and very modern. The room was serviced daily and it was great to come back to a tidy room each evening.
Only concern was air conditioning. The weather was quite warm the day we arrived and air conditioning did not seem to cool room. Might be a bigger issue in the summer.
We had breakfast at the hotel and opted for the continental option at 9 EUR. Plenty of options under this and might be a better option if you don't need a cooked breakfast. The pool is typical of any city hotel - small and in the basement but was more than adequate for a relaxing swim after walking all day. Once gain it was very clean and well maintained. Finally, we found all the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and recommend it for anyone visiting Berlin.
