We stayed for 3 nights arriving on 01.12.16. The first thing that hit us as we walked through to reception was an unbearable smell of cigar smoke and this was due to the fact that there was a smokers lounge next to reception! The smell was throughout the hotel and was not nice considering the smell stuck to your clothes....

Really excellent location hotel just off a main road. Very engaging reception staff A comfortable room, maybe a bit small, maybe a bit over heated but fine. Good bed though i wasn't a fan of the empty pillows. Of course it's clean. I loved the touch of having neat coat hooks inside the door Didn't eat in the restaurant as the...

We stayed here for 3 nights in October. It was very cold outside but we found the hotel to be very warm and cosy. It was even a bit too warm on some occasions. The breakfast provided was a great selection of both continental and cooked. The location of the hotel is close to a number of UBahn stations.

Staff were extremely helpful, breakfast is a great spread. Would recommend! I would say that the cigar bar that forms part of the hotel is a definite added benefit as we could meet friends and clients there after a days work

Stayed at The Savoy in Berlin for a few nights whilst in town on business. The hotel can best be described as a typical old school hotel with a lobby clad in wood paneling, leather furnishings and red carpet. To the left of the reception you can find a cozy little Cigar Bar and to the opposite side, you will...

My wife and I stayed at the Savoy for three nights in Oct and we had a great time. This is a small type European hotel with maybe 5 floors. They have a sauna to relax in after a day of tourism. The best part of the hotel is the cigar bar. You can sit back and smoke while having...

I really enjoyed my stay here. An easy walk to public transportation, including a bus line that goes right to Tegel. The hotel was great, definitely felt like you were trapped in time, but in a good way. They do that European thing of putting two full beds together instead of giving you a queen, which I always find weird,...

Our trip to Berlin was made even better by staying at the centrally located Savoy. Everyone on the staff was very courteous and couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms were large and quiet and very clean. Bathrooms were impeccable. We will definitely stay at the Savoy next time we come to Berlin.

I liked the hotel, the room, most everything was good. Two concerns: though on a small side street, the noise from the street was pretty loud some nights, waking us up throughout the night. Also, while the hotel is non smoking, there is a cigar bar right next to the reception, so the smell of smoke was strong but not...

A very pleasant stay made more so by very accommodating staff, from the Front desk to the Restaurant. The prepaid 2 and 3 course dinners were as tasty as any experienced in 3 weeks in Germany. The breakfast spread was comprehensive. The position of the Hotel close to the Kur'damm, the Tiergarten and the Zoo station was perfect for our...

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Opened in 1929, the Savoy Hotel Berlin lies just a few minutes' walk from the busy Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s famous elegant promenade. Celebrities like Maria Callas, Romy Schneider, Greta Garbo, Helmut Newton and the famous German writer Thomas Mann were regular guests. They all valued the hotel’s atmosphere and unobtrusive service. Today the Savoy is still synonymous with style, discretion and hospitality. The classical premises were refurbished in 2005 and its original features restored to their former glory. ... more   less
