This trip had the double intention of showing my partner Berlin, and treating my mother for my birthday. When in Berlin I usually stay at the InterConti, closer to Tiergarten, but this time I wanted something better located for tourism which didn't compromise the quality of the stay, so of course I went with the classic Westin Grand, preferred by...

Stayed there for a conference. Rooms are good, service is excellent. One thing though: For the love of your deity of choice, in 2017 in a business hotel WIFI in your room should be included in the price of the room!

This hotel has all the makings of a great 5 star but lets itself slightly down. The rooms are a little small but comfortable; there are slight details in the furniture and decor that indicate the march of time. The main lobby and atrium is impressive but slightly dark and outdated. I would not be surprised if the hotel was...

Fantastic hotel, within walking distance of all the sights and great restaurants and bars. So many nice little touches in the hotel, being able to rent running gear for €5 for the duration of my visit was a fantastic surprise (great condition NB trainers, socks, shorts and t-shirt, quality stuff) It's not cheap and the city tax will add to...

We visited for a breakfast. 30+ € per person is a bit much. The breakfast was good, large selection of everything, chef doing scrambled eggs on demand and free champagne. The interior of the hotel is fantastic!

My family and I stayed at this hotel during a recent visit to Berlin. This hotel is located near the Brandenburger Tor and Unter Den Linden. It's not cheap but if you want to be in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of Berlin, this is a great hotel to stay at. There are great shops, restaurants and...

The Westin Grand Berlin is located in what was, before the wall came down, East Berlin. This is within easy walking distance of the Brandenburg Gate, The Reichstag, The Tiergarten & Checkpoint Charlie among other sites. The staff was everything you'd want a hotel staff to be: polite, helpful, attentive... The lobby & atrium are beautiful & impressive. Our room...

From the moment you get to checkin you do not feel welcome. As a platinium member we using get an upgrade, well this upgrade was more of a down grade as we look over the air conditioner unit and a very dirty roof. The bathroom is reminiscent of a country motel. No one smiles which I think must be due...

This place is very close to the important monuments of the city...so the location is perfect. It's a 5 star in it's true sense right from the bell desk to room service. Spacious clean room..very comfortable matress. The house keeping was the best our requests were attended to in minutes never had to remind them. They rented us out sneakers...

Great hotel, rooms were spacious, staff very helpful, lovely inside. However the prices are a bit on the pricey side. In walking distance to most of the main visitor sites. Also only a 5 min walk from the Friedrichstrasse station.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
