As several people have said, staff is nice and helpful. But when it comes to rooms, the value you get for 120 Euro a night isn't that good. No phone, no fridge, barely a place to sit and having the beds in an alcove you end up with very warm during the night. If you open the windows to get...

Michelberger is by far the coolest and most comfortable hotel I've ever been to. It was my first trip to Berlin and we stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in July 2012. The entrance to the check in counter is through a very laid back and stylish lounge area and bar so you instatntly get the cool vibe. People...

I booked a triple loft room at Michelberger hotel after seeing it featured in many blogs. I thought the rooms with big windows and lofty appearance looked so cool! When we arrived in the weekend we were informed that there was a problem with the key cards, they couldn't be coded, but there was always someone at the reception to...

This place is incredible, I really can't recommend it enough. I went with 3 friends and stayed in one of the 'Band' rooms, which was like something out of the selby. Very minimlist but comfy enough and absolutely HUGE, a perfect place to stay if you are in a big group and don't mind all sharing. From the moment we...

Loved the interior design of Michelberger - super fun, quirky and hip, just like Berlin. The room was basic, but very clean and comfy. We had a room that faced the courtyard, and it did get noisy at night. It didn't bother us too much, but if you're a light sleeper, might be best to request a room away from...

This hotel is way ahead of the plain and average hotels that fill our world. As you walk into the reception/bar you are face with an ambience that is so cool, it hurts. If you like normal, average hotels then this might not be your cup of tea because only the coolest of people can fully appreciate this experience. The...

The hotel itself is very cute, and the owner's dad, Han, is cool, but I have to tell the truth. I was disappointed in this hotels basic service. I would also like to say that the hotel breakfast is very good and most of the staff tries to be very kind, courteous and helpful. Problems with the Hotel: 1) My...

Really superb hotel with cool, artsy interiors. It's easy to find when you're coming back at night thanks to the giant neon Hotel Michelberger sign that goes up the side of the building. You can see it as soon as you come out of the Metro (to your left). The downstairs bar area is vast and welcoming, like a giant...

We stayed for a week at the Michelberger and had a really great time. It's more than a hostel in that the rooms are spotless and cleaned every day, the breakfast is excellent and the service pretty friendly - all at a reasonable price. The personalised maps for eating, shopping and site seeing were a nice touch. The other great...

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
