The hotel itself is very cute, and the owner's dad, Han, is cool, but I have to tell the truth. I was disappointed in this hotels basic service. I would also like to say that the hotel breakfast is very good and most of the staff tries to be very kind, courteous and helpful. Problems with the Hotel: 1) My...

Really superb hotel with cool, artsy interiors. It's easy to find when you're coming back at night thanks to the giant neon Hotel Michelberger sign that goes up the side of the building. You can see it as soon as you come out of the Metro (to your left). The downstairs bar area is vast and welcoming, like a giant...

We stayed for a week at the Michelberger and had a really great time. It's more than a hostel in that the rooms are spotless and cleaned every day, the breakfast is excellent and the service pretty friendly - all at a reasonable price. The personalised maps for eating, shopping and site seeing were a nice touch. The other great...

Sure, this place is more like a glorified hostel but still, this is Berlin at it's coolest and this is exactly what Berlin is all about. Take the hippest guests and the hippest staff, and throw them together in a lobby/lounge/restaurant/bar and you've got the Michelberger. The rooms are perfunctory. Bed - check. Shower - check. Toilet - check. That's...

I think this hotel is a tiny bit Kafkaesque and indeed a really COOL hotel. The foyer is scattered with low sofas and lots of cushions and steel shelving filled higgitly piggilty with books. The is a baby grand piano also. The bar and reception are open plan and are part of the foyer. What gives an atmosphere is the...

Words cannot do justice to this fantastically cool, fun, really well designed hotel. All I can say is that we will definitely be returning ASAP. Its is WELL worth a visit, there is no other hotel in Berlin as far as my friends and I are concerned!

I visited Berlin and the Michelberger Hotel for the first time in 2011, and went back now for a mini break in june. The staff is friendly, the drinks in the bar are great, and the different events around the football matches in the European Championships were so much fun - who knew hipsters enjoyed football? Great value for your...

My friend and I just spent four days in the Michelberger Hotel and it is without a doubt one of the coolest hotels we've ever stayed in. Really cool design throughout the hotel, super friendly staff, great weekend brunch, comfortable beds, fun bar, strong cocktails, lovely courtyard, great location, etc., etc., etc. - we are definitely coming back and would...

We booked to stay at the Michelberger for four nights over my birthday weekend and after reading all of the reviews on trip advisor we really excited, luckily it did not disappoint. Everything from the lobby, to the bar and the room was super cool. We arrived fairly late on Thursday, and spotted the hotel almost as soon as we...

My partner and I were recommended this hotel by a friend of ours who has stayed here also. We both really liked the atmosphere in the courtyard (stayed Sun-Weds); everyone was super friendly and only too happy to help. I personally think the location was good - tram stop outside the hotel, U-bahn about 3mins walk away and the S-Bahn...

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
