Travellers' Choice
Opened in 2008 and freshly renovated in 2020, The Circus Hotel is a boutique, design-orientated hotel in Berlin-Mitte, housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century landmark-protected building overlooking Rosenthaler Platz. Close to all the main attractions of the city and in a lively neighbourhood of bars, restaurants, art galleries and independent shops, we’re here to help you experience all that Berlin has to offer. Join us for our weekly curated programme of events and activities, relax in our garden courtyard or take in the spectacular views from our roof terrace. On the ground floor of The Circus Hotel you’ll find our lounge, library and garden courtyard, a place to linger over breakfast or grab a bite to eat before heading out into the city. Warm breakfast is served from 08:00 – 11:00, including homemade granola, eggs how you like them, vegan scramble and breakfast burritos, to name a few of the options. We’ve also thought carefully about our drinks, with coffee from Vote Roasters and teas from Paper and Tea, and why not try our Cruffin – a mix of croissant and muffin that is sure to become a breakfast classic.

I stayed for one night at The Circus Hotel as part of a giveaway by Staycation Vacation. As I live in Berlin I have never stayed in a hotel in the city before, and it was the most wonderful, relaxing break. Katrin and her amazing colleagues were so attentive and kind, really making my partner and I feel like we were on a real getaway. The whole hotel is BEAUTIFUL. Each detail is carefully selected, the snacks and drinks in the room are extremely tasty and local, and there are carefully curated books everywhere. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the city and despite being on one of the busiest squares in Berlin was EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET. Nico on the bar made the most delicious cocktails and allowed us to play our own music using the record player in the lounge. In the morning the breakfast was outstanding! We ate in the sunshine in The Circus Hotel's cosy garden. We really did not want to leave. We will be back for sure and I will be recommended any visitors I have to Berlin to stay here!

The hotel is closed. When you have made your booking and paid for it you bei receive emails from the Circus Hostel and not the Circus Hotel asking your to check in. When you arrive at the circus Hotel you will find it locked up and surrounded by scaffolding, when you call the Hotel you will be advised to come to the Hostel. Guests are being accommodated in the Hostel across the road. Guests will be charged the hotel room rate.

Hi there, very sorry that your stay at the Circus was not up to your expectation. Our hotel is indeed being renovated at the moment and will be open again in all of its new glory in November 2020. In the meantime not to disappoint our loyal hotel guests we offer a very limited number of hotel style rooms across the road in the hostel. The “Hotel goes Hostel” studio apartments which are twice the size as a standard hotel room are kitted out with more facilities than it is possible to find in a hotel including a fully equipped kitchen and spectacular views over the Berlin skyline. The room you were allocated is actually an upgrade. The price difference which you mentioned is because you were comparing our direct prices at the Circus with the method that you chose to book, but as a gesture of goodwill we gave you that price difference as a discount. We have been one of the most popular Berlin tourist accommodators for over 20 years and we are not interested in misleading anyone when it comes to what rooms are reserved, expectations and of course price. We are also naturally only interested in hosting guests that want to be at the Circus and we would have only been too happy to find alternative accommodation in the same price class which we offered to do so. We did inform you that the location of was room was 75metres away from the Hotel but if we were not clear enough in our email correspondence about that then our sincerest apologies. I very much hope that you still enjoyed Berlin, if not, then please give Berlin another go. “You should try everything twice”😊. Hope you are well and safe travels.

Top-notch location; a fun & quirky atmosphere. Overview: The Circus Hotel is probably the elder, soberer & refined sibling of the probably more recognized Circus HoStel. Property & Room: Located at the junction of Rosenthaler Platz, it's about a 15-minute tram ride from the Berlin HBF and is located close to many restaurants, & bars and is probably not the most touristy part of the city - which is a good thing! The reception is unassuming but intimate and on the ground floor along with their famous bar & restaurant (unfortunately didn't try either). The pathways in the hotel for some reason, best known to the Europeans and Scandinavians, are dim, if not out-rightly dark. But once you do manage your room (YOUR room), it's a typical theme continues - while not the best lit, still unique and quirky. The smallish-medium sized room was well appointed. The sole window provides a glimpse of the Berlin TV tower and their verandah. There were a couple of storage areas, a coffee table with 2 chairs along with a small Bose boombox and the works. The bathroom, though also smallish was clean and well designed. We got a room facing the inner veranda, so was quiet. Assuming the rooms facing the road may be a little noisier. F&B: Unfortunately we didn't try any of their F&B offerings, however, we did go to their other dining outlet at the Hostel (which expectedly has a younger & livelier vibe) for breakfast (while basic, still a steal for EUR 5 - it's unlimited and healthy) and to their bar too (in the hostel) - the folks at the hotel's reception gave us a few vouchers to try their brewed beers in the hostel's bar - which were really awesome! But the place has multiple dining options - across all cuisines & budgets. Please do try to visit the 24x7 Rosenthaler Grill & Schlemmerbuffet for excellent Middle Eastern food and with oodles of character Service & Amenities: Limited scope to experience either, but some highlights: - really friendly, pleasant & helpful folks at the hotel (and hostel's) receptions - some amenities are indeed quite top-notch like the Bose Bluetooth boombox, etc. Overall: All-in-all, a very well located hotel, with good rooms, a very chic vibe & lots of character and as importantly well-priced (but yes, please do improve the internal lighting!).

Comfortable and very friendly hotel. Modern rooms; kettle and tea/coffee provided. Staff very helpful. Breakfast available also at the hostel opposite; cafes and bars nearby; right outside U-Bahn station. It is located in more of a shopping area so lacks typically German pubs and restaurants
