Easy walk from Alexanderplatz. Internet was terrible. Late checkout and refunding deposit for checking out a day early was nice. Rooms, at least dorms, do not include bathrooms. Bathrooms in hallway. Nice big pillow.

The hostel was what you'd expect of a hostel. The rooms were small and they had a bathroom. I was not enormously impressed by the cleanliness (there was a wrapper in one of the bunk beds and some mysterious stains one of the sheets). The staff were however very friendly. When we asked for clean towels, they gave them without...

So on arrival, we were excited to get into our room then hit some of Berlin's notorious clubs. We had our laptop with us, and it was 11pm, so we had some music on about half volume. A woman was patrolling the halls and told us to turn it off. We then turned it down to the lowest volume, she...

We stayed here for a night, very friendly staff, we got a two person bedroom, it had two twin beds. Everything was clean, the hallways look a bit outdated. Shower is its own little room, toilet is it own little room and the sink in the bedroom, all within our own room. Excellent location if you want to go sightseeing....

We went as a couple and stayed in a twin room. The hostel is very easy to find from Mohrenstrasse station, practically next to it, and is within easy walking distance of many sights including Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Topography of Terrors, Jewish Memorial, Museum island, TV tower... The room was fairly clean (a but dusty round the edges)....

OK so the pros are: Good location Good price Nice staff The cons There's no atmosphere at all The showers look like something from Orange is the New Black, I'm not at all fussy but these showers were bad. I find it hard to believe this hostel doesn't get 5 stars across the board. You are getting a cheap room in the very heart of the city - I noticed the next door neighbour is the North Korean Embassy! You are 10 minutes walk from literally anything, Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, Topography of Terror and Reichstag. On top of...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
