I stayed at this hotel because it was close to a business meeting, and most other hotels in the area were booked out. It was ok, the room was clean and the staff were very professional, but it was rather soulless - I felt like I was staying in a hospital - and the breakfast area had all the charm...

This hotel is very near the underground and makes it easy to travel around. The rooms are not too big but clean and the beds are just soooooo comfy. Lovely shower rooms look like they have just been renewed. The only downfall is the bar, or the other end of the reception area with four stools, they could easily convert...

The 3 *** Best Western am Spittelmarkt hotel is 200 metres from the U-bahn underground, in a quiet side street. There is a tapas bar and a bakery over the road, and good restaurants in the Nikolai Quarter, or viertel, are two stops away on the tube. It is a new hotel, with friendly and helpful reception staff, a small...

Stayed for 4 nights and found the location very convenient for the underground and getting around Berlin. It is only about a 15-20 minute walk to both Potsdamer Platz and Alexander Platz and within walking distance to numerous restaurants. There is construction around the hotel but our room didn't face the street, we heard no noise so it was not...

We stayed at the Best Western for a couple nights during a Berlin visit. The Hotel located at Spittelmarkt with the Subway right around the corner to Line 2 which connects the Alexanderplatz to potsdamer platz easily, but even when you're walking it's only 15-20 minutes to get to either. Unfortunately there is construction right across the Hotel which probably...

The room was huge - easily fitting two teenage boys and me. Flat screen TV, fabulous bathroom - modern and clean as a whistle. BUT the construction zone that surrounds it is a pain at the moment. Our room, with insulating windows was at the front of the hotel and at 0630 the trucks started arriving and then it was...

The hotel was good value, and the breakfast was ausgezeichnet! The buffet lacks nothing. Good location, two U-bahn stops from Alexanderplatz. There was construction adjacent to the hotel, but when the double-paned windows were closed the room was quiet. An enjoyable stay.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
