Our room was so large it felt like a palace, and the location was perfect; the city walls were right within view from the hotel. The breakfast, included in the price of the room, was also surprisingly expansive given the size of the hotel, with eggs and waffles on demand and a buffet with fruits, meats, a juice press, and baked goods as well. The bath in the center of the room was so lovely. Highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is located just outside the town gates, it is a few minutes walk to the town square, and all the charming inside the walls features, but with easy access to the other areas of the town too.

Rooms are modern, thoughtfully laid out and work well. Our single rooms had a 3/4 sized bed in each ( it seemed), desk, lamp, fan, chair, large mirror, tv, tea/ coffee making equipment, reasonable lighting, good wifi, enough places to plug in charging equipment, and reasonable space for luggage. There was a fridge but it was not operational, one of our party had requested a fridge and an additional working one was provided. The safe in room was small and at floor level, not that big a deal but consider this if you can't easily crawl around on the floor.

Bathroom was small but well set out, walk-in shower sink, toilet, hairdryer.

Parking is 2 buildings over at the sister hotel, seemed to be enough and there was at least one vehicle charging point there.

Breakfast was nice but very expensive for what it was, there are small places just inside the town walls that are a good deal

Gas/ petrol station was close by, plenty of restaurants both inside and outside the town walls, plus bakeries, cafes…

Staff here polite and friendly.

Would stay here again if in the area.

My family and I (a party of five) recently visited Rothenberg ob der Tauber. We stayed at the Villa Mittermeier for two nights, and with two rooms. We had a wonderful experience! Our rooms were both beautifully decorated and were very comfortable. Included was a complementary snack bar with teas and coffee, and a mini fridge. The hotel itself, while not directly in the city center, was just outside it, and only an 8 minute walk from town’s Marktplatz. In the lobby, also beautifully decorated, there was a small selection of complementary snacks, just another one of those small touches that make this hotel great! The concierges were very friendly and helped to ensure our trip to Rothenberg went smoothly. We would definitely recommend the Villa Mittermeier for a stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber!

One thing in advance: I'm not a chic justus who gives 1/10 points just because the decorative cushions on the bedspread are not arranged symmetrically.
But if you explicitly specify a double bed when booking and then find two small beds pushed together that slide apart when you just look towards the crack in the bed, I find that more than unfortunate.
And when you wake up at half past seven because the footsteps of the neighbors above thunder through the ceiling, which is noisy, I wonder how this shed has ever received any good reviews. I definitely spent quieter nights in some hostel doors.
Old building is all well and good - but if the walls are so permeable that you could easily talk to people walking past in the hallway with the door closed, you can also hang curtains. Speaking of which: the windy shutter-curtain construction, thanks to which it's already bright as day early in the morning (after you've been groping awake for an hour), also subtly misses its purpose. The hotel doesn't seem to want to fix the last negative point - a broken toilet flush that gurgles all night long - even after multiple complaints in the reviews.

When asked about all of these points and a possible discount, the hotel referred us to the booking platform. But that claimed that the hotel didn't want to offer a reduction. To react so ignorantly at this price level - in my opinion, really underground, is something I've never experienced before.

Amazing hotel, amazing location. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the customer service was wonderful. They even had free on site parking which was great. A short walk into the old city centre where all the beautiful buildings and shops are located. We paid the 24 euro per person to eat breakfast there and although a bit pricey, it was definitely worth it. We sat on the terrace and there were so many food options at the self serve buffet, including tons of fruit, accompanied by eggs and bacon that are made to serve. The coffee was also great. Worth the money in our opinion as the restaurant and terrace were lovely.

This hotel is located just outside the walls of the old city. The location is awesome as you can walk just across the street to all of the sites. Hotel staff seemed friendly. Our room was quite large and very clean. There is no air conditioning and it was quite hot as it was August and staff provided a fan. We left the windows open at night and it cooled off. The toilet is in a small “closet“ and the bathroom sink and shower are in the same room with the bed. That might be an issue for some people. We did have a problem with the shower leaking a bit into the room. Breakfast was nice with a decent selection and the option to order omelettes or eggs and bacon. Free parking was great and right on site.

The visit started well, noticing us pull up outside, the gentleman at the desk came out to greet us, show us where to park and how to access the elevator. Having checked in, it being the Christmas break with the hotel's own restaurant on limited service, he took pains to direct us to a good choice of local restaurants, one of which we dined in with pleasure.
The room was spacious and felt luxurious with a comfortable bed and large bathroom and breakfast was an extensive feast attended by helpful staff.
The location is ideal, just outside one of the city gates from which there is wall access while escaping the hustle and bustle inside the walls. We walked the full circuit on the following perfect crisp winter's day and were delighted to have added the town to our list despite reservations that it might be a bit too touristy. It's touristy, but for very good reason.

When choosing a hotel in an unfamiliar location half a world away you wonder if you're making the right choice. Having stayed here for a week now, I can tell you that the best recommendation I could give is that I would definitely chose Villa Mittermeier again if I am ever back in Rothenburg ob Der Tauber! The room was spacious, quiet, exquisitely decorated, and outfitted with all the comforts. This is definitely not a cookie-cutter, bare-bones hotel room. The hotel has adequate parking and is a short walk to anything you might want to see or do in the city center. One of the first nights here it was wet and cold outside, so I decided to try the hotel restaurant. The maî·tre d'hotel explained that it was a fine dining restaurant with a 5 or 7 course wild game menu. That wasn't what I was looking for, but because it was cold and wet he offered to alter the menu to accommodate me. How many fine dining establishments do you know who would go to those lengths to accommodate their guests? I applaud them.

If you are coming to Rothenburg ob Der Tauber for business or pleasure do not hesitate to stay at this charming hotel! Their breakfast is fantastic, their staff is warm and helpful, and their location is great. You won't be disappointed!

Well the hotel looks nice and rooms are nicely decorated but that’s about it. Receptionist is rude, especially if you do not speak German, breakfast is very weak but extremely pricey, location is somewhat close to the town centre but not really located where the “Magic Happens”. If we would go to Rothenburg again we would find a charming hotel in the town centre (there seems to be plenty), so I would suggest you do the same…

Responded 8 Sept 2021
Dear Raindeep, Thank you very much for taking time to write a review. We are very sorry that we could not fulfil your expectations. Regarding the mentioned unfriendliness of our receptionist, we can assure you that this impression may be due to the fact that uncertainties in a language not 100% confident can be perceived as "rude". Of course, misunderstandings and awkwardness can always occur when talking in a foreign language. We are sorry that you felt this way. We are conducting daily training with the entire team in order to improve their skills in dealing with our guests in a professional manner, and we will continue to work on this accordingly. According to our feeling is Rothenburg altogether a "magic place" and in addition very small, so that really everything is attainable within few minutes by foot. Our quiet location a little away from the hustle and bustle of the city center is generally perceived as pleasant by our guests. We are pleased that you liked our hotel and the facilities. Kind regards from Rothenburg

Villa is, without a doubt, the best option in Rothenburg. It is immediately outside the walls - which avoids the noise from tourists. But it is convenient to reach by car, train (just a few steps from the station) or even on foot.
And the hotel is very comfortable. Modern, with everything the traveler wants - even an electric kettle with tea and coffee options in the room.
The only problem, for those traveling with a lot of luggage, is that there is no elevator - and the rooms are not on the ground floor.
The staff is very friendly, everything works perfectly. Recommended.

Does the hotel offer laundry service? If so, what are the prices for laundry?
Answer from Christian M
Hey, thank you very much for your question. We offer our hotel guests a laundry service. We need about one day for this service. If you drop off your laundry by 10am in the morning, we can return it to you the next morning washed and ironed. The prices depend on the article of clothing. They are between 2,80 € and 8,70 €. A price list is available in the rooms. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
