Hotel Reichskuechenmeister The Heart of Rothenburg is celebrated for its authentic German atmosphere and favorable location near the town center, making it a perfect spot for exploration. Guests are consistently impressed by the hotel's cleanliness, spacious suites, and the warm, traditional ambiance that includes a popular Biergarten. While the staff receive accolades for their friendliness and helpfulness, some travelers do mention additional charges for amenities like air conditioning and parking. Despite this, the overall value is often seen as reasonable, with only minor notes on the rooms being somewhat outdated.

We stayed three nights in one of the hotel's apartments and were very satisfied! Apartment on the ground floor of a typical half-timbered building from the medieval era, but internally modern and recently renovated. Spacious and comfortable, equipped with a small kitchen with fridge and microwave, a living room, 2 TVs and free internet connection. The location is very central, and it was possible to keep our car in a covered and fenced car park next to the apartment for a modest daily fee. Perfect solution with excellent quality-price ratio, recommended for those who want to spend a few days visiting the splendid medieval Rothenburg.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was a suite which was spacious, clean and had an attractive view. The air conditioning worked well in this room in comparison to other hotels we stayed at in Europe, we did have to pay extra for it, but it was worth it considering it was very hot while we were in Rothenberg. The breakfast buffet was set up nicely and was good as was dinner. The location of the hotel is also good, we enjoyed roaming around town in the mornings and walking outside the walls of the town into nature. Overall, it was a nice stay.

We received a very friendly welcome. The service is comprehensive and leaves nothing to be desired. We enjoyed using the sauna and steam bath.
The bathroom in the room is spacious and can also be used by someone with walking difficulties. The breakfast is rich and tasty. The restaurant is worth recommending.

We had an excellent 2 night stay with discovery package. The staff was attentive, very friendly and dedicated. The menus were varied and the rooms comfortable. We really appreciated the central location of the hotel, allowing us to do all the visits on foot, even if someone has difficulty getting around. The hotel has a lot of charm and the atmosphere is friendly. We highly recommend this establishment.
If there is one thing that we liked less, it was the carpet as floor covering in one of the bedrooms.

Very good little hotel in the centre of a magical mediaeval world heritage site. Rooms are traditional, if a touch dated, staff are super efficient and friendly, prices are reasonable and the restaurant excellent, within the limitations of German ‘cuisine’. Breakfasts are particularly good. Minor complaints about the WiFi only working in the bedrooms, and not the public areas, but overall a very decent spot. Parking is a short walk away.

We stayed only one night at Hotel Reichskuchenmeister in the lovely town of Rothenburg. Because this town looks like a movie set or a fairy tale out of a Disney movie, and because the Christmas shops etc are plentiful, Rothenburg is a German town no visitor to Germany should miss! Rothenberg offers so many small charming hotels to tourists and visitors, that I wonder how I was savvy enough to choose Hotel Reichskuchenmeister. Many months prior to our first trip to Germany, I blindly chose this hotel probably based on reviews I read on Trip Advisor. My husband gave me many compliments on my choice of hotels. We will never forget the one evening we spent at this charming and delightful hotel in such a beautiful town. The service was perfect, the room was perfect, the bathroom appeared to be recently redecorated. The staff was courteous, polite, efficient, professional. . The location of the hotel could not have been more convenient for our self guided walking tour of the town. The hotel is close to a popular shopping area and the town square. Our hotel was quiet, and we ate our evening meal in the hotel diningroom . The ambiance was perfect. Our waiter made us feel comfortable and welcome. The food was delicious! Everything about this hotel is outstanding and I would encourage others to stay at Hotel Reichskuchenmeister. The only negative I must mention to tourists is that German trains are not at all reliable. . We took a train from Nuremburg to Rothenburg , and the train ( due to construction) without warning "dumped" all the passengers in the middle of nowhere at a small town called Steinach. Dozens of people were stranded in Steinach and even though Steinach is not far from Rothenberg. we finally were fortunate enough to contact a taxi who charged us 40 dollars to finish the trip to Rothenburg. The following day the construction still impeded our train trip to Munich, so we had to pay another 40 dollars to leave Rothenberg for the train station in Rothenurg where dozens of people waited one hour for a bus to take all of us to the next train station toward Munich. . NO UBERS AVAILABLE in small German towns. If you have no car, be prepared to spend money on taxis and be aware that German train travel leaves much to be desired!

Pros: Nice room, very good location, very good food in the restaurant with nice beer garden, nice breakfast buffet. All premises very clean.
Cons: Bad bed, mattress very slack. This is not acceptable for a 4* hotel with a corresponding price, especially as a more expensive deluxe room has been booked.
Seat reservation in the restaurant is also difficult for hotel guests, sometimes you are placed at a table of four, which is a no-go for a 4* house. The service staff seem partly rushed, partly close to the unkindness and you get the impression that you have to eat as quickly as possible so that the table can be sold again. You could tell from the service that it is a tourist town, where the individual guest counts less, according to the motto "we do not come, another comes".

A rude and unreasonable manager cast a shadow on our short stay in the lovely Rothenburg on der Tauber. In September, we had inadvertently booked an extra room for our upcoming October stay. We immediately realized our mistake and canceled the extra room. We received a prompt email acknowledging the cancellation, informing us that we would not be charged and specifically stating that we did not need to do anything further. When we arrived, the manager told us we would be charged for the extra room if she couldn’t rent it. She was very rude and refused to look at the email we had received weeks earlier stating that the room had been cancelled or listen to our very reasonable explanation. I travel a lot and have never been met with such terrible behavior by management before. We ultimately were not charged, but never received any sort of apology. I could not recommend that anyone stay here.

We have been to Rothenburg ob der Tauber several times, but this is the first time we have stayed at this hotel (for two nights) and it will not be the last time, as we were completely satisfied.

We were given a very warm welcome at reception and were even able to move into our room a little earlier. This meant that our short vacation could begin in a relaxed manner.

The staff were all very friendly, everything worked perfectly and the whole hotel was very clean.

The room was very nice and the double windows made it so quiet that we hadn't slept better in a long time.

The hotel is very centrally located in the heart of Rothenburg, so you can be on the market square in just a few steps.

You have to book in advance to use the sauna, then towels and bathrobes are ready for you and that always worked out perfectly. There was never much going on and we were able to relax perfectly. Here too, everything was extremely clean and very attractive in the cellar vault. An oasis of calm after a stroll through the city.

The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired, the staff is very friendly and attentive. As late risers, we would have preferred a slightly later breakfast time, but since you can still sit in peace after 10 a.m., that worked out great.

We were very sad to leave and will definitely come back!

We took a room for 4 so it was with 2 bedrooms.
Rooms are big with one bathroom. We had come pretty tired- had lugged our bags from the train station.- better to ask the Hotel to arrange a taxi. In advance.
Staff on duty was not empathetic. Asked us 3 times at checkin at around 3:30 pm if we were going to eat dinner at the restaurant. Kept telling her we would inform her in a bit. We told her we needed a taxi tomorrow morning since we are staying for only a day. Repeatedly wanted to know immediately at what time so she could arrange. Again had to tell her that give us a short while and we would tell her the time.
Hotel has an elevator which was great since we had lots of bags.
Notice in the room to pay €5 for the Airconditioning. This was weird. Firstly since it was only €5 and never seen this before in hotel. Anyway we told them to start it since the weather was very hot.
Breakfast was nice with enough options and restaurant is big with enough staff.
Unfortunately an unsavoury incident occurred 2 hours after our checkout involving another room which my friend has booked.
Had left our bags and when we came back 2 hours later to collect them one staff said something about some black dots on the floor. One hotel staff actually suggested that my friend's wife had dropped some eyeliner on the floor and left a permanent stain on room flooring. Friend's wife went to the room and showed her by scrubbing it that whatever it was, it was coming off and had nothing to do with us. Still continued to go on about it in the hotel lobby. Finally my friend informed her that we were out from 4 pm the previous night till night and checked out in the morning but it didn't seem to resonate with the staff. Anyway we left but the incident left a sour taste in the mouth.
