Stayed two nights in May. Parked around the corner and asked at reception where to park and the hotel has a small gated car park just opposite the hotel. Found a space and checked in. Room was on the second floor right at the front of the hotel and overlooking the street with nice window boxes on the window sills. Room was small but comfortable and bathroom again on the small side but spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent and eggs cooked to order if you asked. The hotel is located just inside one of the gates in the old city wall and a five minute walk to the town centre. The hotel front door is locked after nine pm but access for guests is via a side door opened by the room key so no problem. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a charming small hotel just within the wall around Rothenburg. You must check in before 6 PM - no one is around after that. It is very close to everything you would want to see in town and there is access to walk on the wall next to the hotel.
Breakfast is included and eggs are made to order. Rothenburg is a classic medieval village that is very well preserved. A car is definitely not needed. The train station is a fifteen minute walk, but a 7 minute taxi ride if you don't want to haul your luggage. There is no elevator or air conditioning - a typical old style German hotel with lots of atmosphere and a very friendly staff.

Based on solid reviews we had made reservations for our overnight stay/visit. All of our needs were met as it is only a 15 minute walk from/to the train station and it is situated just inside the walled city and walking distance to all the major sites.. The rooms were of adequate size, comfortable, and very clean. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was fabulous. If we ever visit again it will be our first choice.

The room was spartan, under the rafters, and very unaccommodating. There was a desk where we could put one suitcase. The desk had one chair, so one person had to sit on the bed. The shower doors were tricky to seal and water flooded the bathroom floor. The linens were worn and poor quality. And then there was the internet. You had to keep signing in. Just when you thought you had your business going on, the internet would kick you off and the sign in began again. The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the location and superb breakfast.

Great Hotel in Rothenburg.
Rooms were on the small size and dated side but they were super clean and comfortable. Bedded was amazing. Loved that the windows open to let in some fresh air!
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was great.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Rothenburg!

Typical structure but a little old, comfortable beds but the room very hot, without air conditioning and full of insects because there is no mosquito net.
Good breakfast, excellent location. Parking in front 8 euros per night.
The lady at the reception was very kind.

In April 2012, I rented a car in Frankfurt with Sixt (the best deal then) and drove through Germany, Austria, Slovakia (Bratislava only) Slovenia and Croatia for 25 days. I stayed in 20 hotels and spent an average of 72 Can/US dollars per night, which is way cheaper than the prices in Canada and USA. Based on this experience, I will rate those 20 hotels.

SECOND REVIEW: Gasthof Zum Breiterie, Rothenburg

Beautiful, small family hotel, with a great restaurant (as I was told, I'm a vegan, so I starved in Germany), pretty room. The hotel is located inside the town walls, close to everything. The price was ok (65 EUROS/91.60 CAN), considering that Rothenburg is such a touristic town. Free internet, free parking across the hotel.

This was a good place to stay within the walls of Rothenburg. Having the parking across the street was worth the 5 Eu. My sister and I had a twin room in the back which was quiet and roomy. Getting there with luggage up the stairs was a bit rough. You do feel like your in a big old house which fits the setting. The breakfast had a good variety. We were surprised to have free wifi on our visit as it wasn't advertised.

Cons:
WiFi is not free
The rooms will most likely suck in the summer, with such tiny windows.
The bed is way to small and the mattress slightly uncomfortable.
The window is really small and doesn't really open.

Pros:
The location is perfect and it has free parking right around the corner.
Free Breakfast is a great bonus and it has quite a variety.
Staff is friendly and helpful.

The rooms are very basic, but the location is excellent. The hotel is 5 minutes walking from the heart of the town hall, the center of the old town. The hotel is also a restaurant, so if you are checking in during meal time, there maybe a little delay.

Make sure you join the night watchman walkabout tour at night, the guide will tell you all you need to know about the town and he is really funny.
