A grand old building with a lot of history in an excellent location. Room was spacious with a high ceiling. There is no air conditioning but it was October. Our room looked out over the front of the hotel and had sun streaming in so was pleasantly warm. At night we opened the windows which did mean you heard a lot of noise from various party goers. Great bathroom with a walk in shower. Bed firm and for me very comfortable and good pillows. Housekeeping was good too, although we only stayed 2 nights. The breakfast was very average, lots of cold meats, cheeses, some hot dishes and was included in the room rate. It was a buffet which meant you have to wear disposable plastic gloves. Generally unless a very top end hotel I choose not to include breakfast with the room and find a good cafe near by. The parking was no issue and we had a big car. The front desk staff were lovely and very helpful.

This hotel has a great location, and the historic building carries itself well.
However, the improvements to the hotel do not complement the historic aspects of the building. Picture a chrome and glass coffee table in a beautiful historic room with 11 foot ceilings. It just does not feel right. The drapes in the room do not reflect the quality in the room and were only semi-effective in blocking the light. There were no extra blankets provided in the middle of the winter. The hotel does not provide robes or slippers.

The breakfast room in the hotel is beautiful and feels like a historic ballroom. The only better breakfast room I have eaten in is at the Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg (the house in "The Sound of Music" home.

The hotel has a great location between the train station and old town/river.
It is next to the park on a busy walk street, so be prepared for the urban noise. There is a night club below the hotel so also be prepared for that noise at night. Note: If you are booking in an urban area you should expect these things as part of the experience.

This hotel should be a 4 star with improved operations and has the potential to be a 5 star hotel.

Great stay and grateful for the huge open windows to cool the room down (it was a hot day). The architecture is beautiful inside and out. It is a historic hotel so it’s not going to have all the bells and whistles of the modern places but they do a great job! And we were told it was only going to be a cold breakfast so we were pleasantly surprised to find eggs etc. Best breakfast spread on day 6 of our 10 day tour.

The hotel is a waste of money. The building and lobby are nice but once you get to the floors where the rooms are the disappointment sets in. The carpets in the hallways are old, worn and dirty. The rooms weren’t furnished with any care. Just a few Landhaus furniture pieces were tossed in. My husband and I stayed in a double room and had requested a double bed but got a room with a bed with separate mattresses and duvets. My father stayed in a single room and so did my step-mother. My father switched rooms with us because he had a bed with only one mattress and duvet. My step-mother’s room smelled of mold and when she complained at the front desk, she was told that nothing could be done since the person at the front desk was alone. How can, in a four star hotel, the front desk be all alone at 5 pm on a Friday? She was also told to sleep with the window open. It was one degree, it snowed. That would have been a death sentence for a healthy person but my step-mother is chronically ill and her lungs are irreparably damaged. After complaining for ten more minutes a different single room magically appeared that didn’t smell, so it was fine in the end. The mattress in my husband’s and my room was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. I barely slept at all during both nights and my muscles and bones hurt for several days. The breakfast was incredibly disappointing. I am vegan and could only eat bread rolls with jam. There was nothing else but even if you eat meat and dairy products the buffet is not very convincing. The staff working during breakfast didn’t even know what vegan really meant. You are better off staying at the ibis Hotel across the bridge next to the train station. We will certainly never stay here again.

Converted from a palace, the hotel has marvelous architecture inside and out. Our room was spacious and we'll appointed. Lovely toiletries in bathroom and many special touches, such as a complimentary small box of chocolate and mineral water both flat and sparkling. Comfy bed and great linen. And, cherry on the top, it was very quiet.
As for breakfast, an excellent array of both sweet and savory choices, and sparkling wine if you care for a mimosa.

This hotel looks grand from the outside but accommodations are far from it. The hotel smells musty and moldy and the carpets are all stained. When I hit yo my room the safe was broken ,the lamp was not working and the Fan wa broken. No air conditioning though the reviews said otherwise. The reviews also said there were complimentary chocolates , water and slippers. I saw none of that. The housekeeper came yo clean at 4 pm I asked her to o wait a moment she then locked the door and I was in able u to o get out ! I tried the reception but no one answered and after banging on the doors the maid returned. After this incident I did not feel safe and I checked out of course not receiving a refund or an apology to try to make things right. I checked into the most beautiful suite at the Bishophof hotel for less money than the horrible accommodations they gave me at the Eurostar and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of my trip although I was out over 300 dollars. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This must have been the place to bee in the past. From the outside, it has the looks of those "Grand Hotels" where people in carriages would check in with all of their personnel. Wonderful, I guess, back then... From he tainted pictures on the wall of the corridors, boasting famous artists and singers from the 1990s, some without hardly any color left on them, one can see that this period must have been when things took a different turn...

Good news:
Centrally located, majestic look from the outside, decent breakfast with very friendly service, bed ok, size of the room ok.

Less good news:
Reasonable check-in with a bit less friendly service (pay up front, e.g. - makes you feel like they expect you to escape during the night without paying)

Bad news:
The hotel is being milked and looks like it is about to go bankrupt. Very little personnel, run down facilities, lacking maintenance and cleaning. Smelly corridors.

I always stay @ Park Hotel Maximilian each time i came back to Regensburg.
Central Location, Tanya as a front office manager was very helpful and provided with all we need during we stayed at Park Hotel Maximilian.
Our Junior Suite is Room 204 is very good size room and has a view to the city.
Even the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant or cafe but they provided a very good range of breakfast buffet (all you need a good breakfast to start your day)

After seeing the website photos was expecting a lot more.

Drove in and had to navigate a spiral road to the car park. Not an easy place to park in.

The room was boiling hot, no air con. Fan provided, didn’t help. Toilet smelt of sewage. Had to get moved to another room which was more or less the same, the sewage smell came back in the morning with a vengeance.

Breakfast was not good. Poor choice for vegetarians. Just hard boiled eggs in the cooked section. There were a few cereals and yogurts and pastries. I would not have wanted to pay for this breakfast.

All in all, the hotel needs some TLC. It’s in a convenient location and is a grand old building. I just didn’t feel clean after leaving.

The hotel is conveniently located opposite of the Regensburg main railway station and at the beginning of the pedestrian shopping street. The hotel is an ancient castle and the interiors are very nice, rooms are high ceilings and spacious. The abundant breakfast is served in a beautiful room facing the park. Service was very good.

Hi! No, in the rooms there is no a/c. But in this time of the year (talking about march/April) it's not too hot in Germany, under normal conditions and needs you shouldn't miss a/c. Have a nice trip, you'll love the city ;-)
