This hotel has everything you need to enjoy your stay in Regensburg! It is a beautiful hotel with every amenity that you need including an elevator and laundry service and a check-in desk that is available all day. It has free bike storage for those who are biking and the buffet breakfast that is included in the stay was unbelievably great! The hotel is on a historic alleyway in the center of old town Regensburg so everything is a five minute walk away. Our room even had a view of Saint Peter’s iconic church spires. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and most speak English. We were here for two nights and in someways sad to leave but our bike journey continues. We hope to return in the future!

Our family of four was very happy with this charming hotel. We stayed in the
Blue Tower, 10 steps across the alley from the reception and main part of the hotel. When I had read other reviews, prior to traveling, that sounded a little weird to me but it works well and is no inconvenience.

Our two rooms were more or less adjoining and completely delightful. Quite large rooms, with well appointed bathrooms. There are no refrigerators in the rooms, but all was comfortable.

The breakfast room is in the main hotel, and very chic, with a vast spread for frühstück.

The staff are wonderful in this fantastic hotel. They help with everything - directions, luggage storage after checkout, service in the restaurant, and they do it with a smile.

Set some 30 yards up an alley from the main square of Regensburg, it is close to everything. It seems a little odd driving into the the square, as you may not see any other cars there. Also, you must drive down 12th century era streets full of pedestrians. At first, I thought we had gone the wrong way, but the navigator of my life told me to keep going. The pedestrians got out of the way, showing their successful education in physics.

Once in the square, you park near the hotel's alley (there are many alleys), unload your bags and walk up the lane to the hotel. After checkin and ensconcing yourself in your room, you can come back and move the car to a public garage some 5-10 minutes walk away. The hotel has a special rate at the garage - the reception lady will explain how to negotiate the payment. It was 9EURO for the one night we were there.

Speaking of one night, we messed up by not allowing two or three nights here. We used it as a quaint stopover, rather than the destination it is.

If, like us, you are accustomed to rocking up to a restaurant, expecting to get a table in a reasonable amount time, you will be relegated to eating kebabs in your room like we were. Reservations are required for dinner everywhere, and even one place for breakfast!

Lovely hotel with a welcoming staff, clean and well-appointed rooms, and a nice breakfast. I was only disappointed in that my room was in their "secondary" building which meant having to walk outside and across the street for a drink, breakfast, or to speak to staff. As a single female traveler it made me a bit uncomfortable (although I never had any problem). Note - I did book on Booking.com so perhaps that was their oversight. I had also read that they had an in-house lounge, for a late night drink, although on weeknights it was a minimal space. I would love to return for one of their Jazz events as they look to be amazing.

Located centrally in the old town of Regensburg many attractions and restaurants can be reached by walking. Being a historic building, almost all of the rooms are different with a nice flair. Unfortunately, ours didn't have a mini bar. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast however is mediocre at best and leaves much to be desired (including good coffee).

Stayed here one night before we were to board a river cruise ship the next day. Hotel was clean, quiet, comfortable. Staff was very friendly, also had a decent buffet breakfast in the morning. Total cost was 127 euro / $138 USD. Booked via email - and they did not take credit card info to reserve, which was odd, but OK.

Stayed for one night as part of a short vacation.

The previous hotel on our trip was very modern, so our first impression was that the description "quaint" translated to "old fashioned". It felt like a bit of a time warp to have real key with heavy key rings that you hand in each time you leave, but hey that works! And is many ways more secure than electronic cards (if less convenient). Still - perhaps an upgrade is in order?

The hotel is right in the middle of the old town - indeed it is in the pedestrian area (see below if you plan to come by car) - and is in an extremely old building (like most of Regensburg) and so there is indeed quite some charm and excellently located.

The rooms are comfortable (bed is on the soft side - a matter of taste) and (for a deluxe room at least) fairly spacious. The bathroom was compact but well-appointed. The only troubles we found (and my recommendations to the hotel management):
- The blinds still let a lot of light through / around them so we woke up with the daylight. Proper blackout curtains or blinds (I assume installing shutters/Rolläden on a period building is not an option) would be an improvement. If in doubt, bring eye masks.
- The safe was also "quaint" - I was able to just about get an iPad Mini in at an angle but forget about a full-size tablet or a laptop. This is simply not current standard and should be upgraded.

Internet was spotty at times, download speeds only sufficient for occasional web surfing and email. We used my phone's 4G to stream video instead.

The breakfast room is surprisingly large and has a lot of character. Service was excellent with a choice of espresso, latte etc from a decent Italian coffee machine, all brought to you. No full cooked breakfast but some warm options. Was delighted to see in-season fruit like fresh strawberries.

Arrival by car on a busy Saturday afternoon following the directions through the pedestrian precinct was an adventure. Got a lot of odd looks from people, even though it is officially permitted, but we felt like we should not have been there. If you take this approach don't actually drive up Tändlergasse - the last step of the instructions. If you do, you will be in a lane only about 1.5 times the width of the car, and after unloading cases you will have to reverse back out past the shop-fronts and pedestrians! Provided you can walk the 5+ minutes with your luggage, the best option is to drive straight to the parking garage. It's less hassle.

We enjoyed our stay. To avoid some of the niggles we might pick a different hotel next time, then again if you want a hotel with parking you will not be this central.

If you find my review helpful, I would appreciate your vote.

Stayed 5 nights in this hotel during the Christmas markets, it is ideally situated just off the main square but very quite. The staff were wonderful and very helpful, our room was in the tower area, very quite and a good size. The breakfast that was served in the beautiful restaurant was one of the best we have ever had in Europe, a huge selection. We had dinner there one night and were very happy with the meal, it is very reasonably priced. We loved Regensburg and there are some great beer halls which are very family orientated and lovely lanes and streets to explore and quaint shops. We caught a taxi from the station as we had just flown from Australia and it only cost 6 euro. The hotel was very good value and we highly recommend this hotel.

Room 203. The one room you don’t won’t. Over looking the main cobbled street below, noisy, no a/c, fan only. The room was like a hot box and uncomfortable. The fan helped relieve some discomfort, but no replacement for A/C. They do provide ear plugs which is advisable to use. The room is very small neat and functional but for two days not a good stay option in summer. A positive is the free water machine in the foyer providing still, light bubbles and heavy bubbly water, really nice and cold.

We stayed in Regensburg for just one night, after arriving in Germany. We had a junior suite in the Bleue Turm. The room was a good size and spotless. The location was great for sight seeing and the breakfast very good. The only issue that we had was driving up to the hotel since it is on a (mostly) walking street. But we resolved that quickly and the hotel has a discounted rate in a nearby parking garage so that was not an issue in the end.

This is a pleasant hotel indeed, tucked down a toothsome alleyway in Regensburg's charming old town. The location is handy for the Danube, various beer gardens and the city's classic sausage stall while there are beautiful buildings all about. Furnishings are tasteful with exposed ancient beams penetrating the modernity. The shower was especially good while the staff were helpful when I needed to borrow an iron and ironing board. My room - a single - was just that, so it was very small but I felt that I was tucked up in an attic so it was atmospheric and medieval in mood.

Answer from Barbara S
Regensburg, Germany
Dear Mrs Teofanovic, We offer our guests a cheaper rate in a nearby parking garage. The rate is 7,50 Euro per night and it is a five minutes walk from the Hotel. (Parkhaus Dachauplatz) You can drive up to the Hotel to unload or load your car any time. Best regards Hotel Münchner Hof
