Found this hotel by chance, staff are excellent, courteous and efficient. Nothing is any trouble. Rooms are spotless and comfortable, well thought out too. Breakfast is great as well, most tastes are catered for, food is delicious. Several good eateries and pubs are close by for nights out, Christmas markets had started when we were there too. Very close to Ost railway station also range of bus services operate from there as well . Overall thoroughly recommend.

The We stayed for a couple of nights to get over jet lag before going skiing. Their motto “Our guests are individuals, our rooms are unique” is certainly true. Each room has a unique décor (some even have names as well as numbers). My wife and I had a junior suite on the first floor very convenient for the breakfast room), and our boys had a twin room on the 4th floor. The breakfast for 12€ is well worth it. A buffet with excellent bread from an artisan baker, The waitress at breakfast was wonderful - one of the most cheerful people I have ever met, and that made breakfast a delight. Comfortable room, lovely bathroom supplies, friendly staff, located right by Ostbahnhof. We I’ll definitely be staying again, next time we are in Munich

Dear gaiteiro, thank you very much for your kind words. We believe that it is the amout of small ideas and delights that in the whole make a difference. Like the bread from our local bakery that won many accolades. Or the L'Occitane amenities in the bathroom. But most of all it is the people that make all the difference - and I have passed your praise on to the colleages at breakfast especially. Thank you and until next time. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel with our family! I would highly recommend it. Beautiful and pristine rooms are individually decorated, a hearty breakfast with plenty of coffee served by an attentive team, and an ideal location for launching your day to visit the city and easy access to the S Bahn and U Bahn. Also, the front desk team was friendly and helpful. I hope you like MOMA1890 as much as we did.

I had 2 days to spend in Munich at the end of a 2 week skiing holiday. MOMA1890 was well situated for the S8 train to the airport, as well as the tram or subway to Marienplatz. It was a walkable neighborhood, and even the walk to Marienplatz was only 25 minutes. The hotel staff was friendly and kind. Andrea in reception was particularly helpful. The ladies who made and served delicious breakfasts were very gracious. My single room on the 5th floor was very quiet at night. It was super-clean, with a separate bathroom 1/3 the size of the room. My mattress could have used a memory foam topper, as it was very firm. I loved the hotel's decor and furnishings. I would definitely stay there again.

Just a gem of a place in a great location within walking distance to many sites.
The staff here are exceptional and go above and beyond. The breakfast buffet is divine and Elisabeth in particular greeted me daily with a huge smile as did all the reception staff, making me feel very welcome.
The hotel itself is unique and decorated with attention to detail and my room was spacious and meticulously clean and although a corner room facing a busy street was in fact very quiet.
I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you to all the staff again for making my stay so wonderful.

Fabulous updated hotel with comfortable beds/pillows and quiet rooms. The breakfast was really great with an assortment of breads, croissants, fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, deli meats and fresh orange juice. The staff were very helpful in helping me navigate the city and finding good restaurants. I really enjoyed the free bottles of water and snacks throughout the day. The location is right across the street from the train and subway station which was highly convenient for airport travel or getting to and from my various tours and sites. The area is totally safe even though it’s next to a train station which is sometimes a concern. I booked here earlier in my stay and rebooked it again at the end because I enjoyed it so much.

Very good location less than 100 meters from Ostbahnhof with access to S-Bahn and U-Bahn.
Some great restaurants locally and easy to get to all areas of interest in Munich such as Marienplatz, Airport and Messe.
The hotel is exceptionally quiet and comfortable. The welcome is first class; designed to give a home from home experience. Some very nice features include a 24 hour, mostly free of charge, access to soft drinks and snacks. There is a small premium to have the extra comfort of air-conditioning; a good idea in Summer months.
This is a family run business embracing all the best traditions of great German hospitality.
I'm very much looking forward to our next visit.

Dear pmacle852888, Thank you for your time and this great review! We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel. The location of our hotel is indeed a great advantage when exploring Munich. For us, genuine hospitality is a matter of course. As a family-run hotel, we attach great importance to our guests feeling at home with us, and we are very pleased that we were able to convey this feeling successfully. Since our hotel is located in a historical listed building, we were only able to install air conditioning systems on the fifth floor at great expense, as these must not be visible from the outside. The small surcharge for air conditioning allows us to cover the cost of installation, maintenance and energy consumption to offer this extra comfort feature. We thank you for your positive feedback and already look forward to welcoming you back at Moma1890. Greetings from Munich Your Team Moma1890

A very good service. A lot of cleaning. Silent. Central and very well connected with trains, buses, metro and tram.
Price and quality are balanced.
In the Restaurant breakfast is good and abundant.
When you arrive from the airport on the train, you can reach the door of the hotel by internal communications practically without going out to the street with your luggage.

The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and the staff could not do enough for you. It's a really nice atmosphere and environment, calm and perfect for anyone - families, couples, older people - I wouldn't call this a party place, but it's also not at all boring. The decor is cool and it is really, really clean and tidy. The location is excellent for concerts at Tonhalle and for getting around Munich generally, because it's right by the Ostbahnhof station. There were some really nice touches in the room - good and natural cosmetics, water, and it was beautifully presented.

Dear Sherwyn K, you can take the S8, 31 Minutes to Ostbahnhof. The hotel is just opposite. Best to take a single ticket to the city, as all sites are within the Zone M and then take an Group City Ticket for Zone M only. This option is the best. With kind regards, Wolfgang Schlicht, General Manager
Carol R asked a question July 2017
Mountain View, California
Do you have AC?
Munich, Germany7 contributions
Dear Carol R, in short: no, we do not have air-conditioning. Our house was built in 1890 and is a listed historic building. While constantly improving the hotel, we make every effort to keep its charm. However, due to the imposed restrictions for being listed, it is virtually impossible to install air conditioning in guest rooms. In general, this is not an issue as the hotel has the advantage of very think outer walls that do not heat up easily. Thus the indoor climate remains pleasant during the hot days even without air conditioning. The brickwork acts as a cooling core. However, when temperatures soar for many weeks and there is no relief from the heat, even our “cooling core” reaches its limits. Therefore, we have the following extras for you during the extremely hot days: o We left some extra duvet covers in the wardrobe. Use these instead of the warmer duvets to cover yourself at night. o You find quiet high quality fans in your room. o Free ice-cream! Get your free ice-cream at the Italian ice-cream shop For further relief, this happens behind the scenes: o Every morning we open all the windows to let in the fresh morning breeze o During the night we open the windows in all vacant rooms to get even more cool air into the building. o Windows are closed and curtains drawn during the morning to leave the warm air outside o Our windows feature a window insulation film, absorbing most of the solar energy, with only 30% being transferred We are looking forward to your booking and hope you will have a pleasant stay even without a/c. With kind regards, Wolfgang Schlicht, General Manager
