I had a long delay in my flight and then S-Bahn construction forced me out into the rain to find an Uber so when I got to the hotel, I was hoping for smooth sailing!
Check in was smooth and I found I had been gifted an upgrade to an amazing suite on two floors with two bathrooms and a hip layout! There was a welcome amenity of snacks and a bottle of special gin to recognize my loyalty status.
The sitting room had super modern chairs and sofa and a big table as well as a large shelf for my computer. The bedroom is filled up by the king sized bed but there is ample closet and drawer space so that I was able to unpack fully. Staff were friendly and helpful, though I know Munich pretty well and was using the stay as a springboard to an opera festival so didn't have a ton of time or energy for sightseeing.
I was able to use the well equipped gyn to shake off the cobwebs and go to dinner, after which I had a drink in the bar where the staff were friendly and engaging, particularly Roman.
Jeffrey, the breakfast host was over the top friendly and fun. The food was wonderful and the staff quick to refill my coffee and water.
The concierge had told me a bout a fashion display so I went there on my one day rather than just see a few more paintings and sculptures.
After dinner, at a nice restaurant I came back to the bar for a getaway drink and had a great time with the bartenders.
Breakfast on my last morning was more of the same as Jeffrey remembered me and showed me to the same table I had on the first morning. He also helped me select a tea, since they have an amazing array of different teas from around the world.
Diener, the bellman, was quick to come for my luggage and get it down for my getaway while the front desk man, Malke, reviewed my bill and emailed it to me before I had left the front door. ! I have been to Sofitel Bayernpost Munich on several occasions and it was the main reason I opted to come to that city before the opera festival

We stayed for three nights at the Sofitel in Munich. It is a great hotel befitting it's 5 star rating.
Even before arrival the service was good. We were a party of 4 and I requested 2 rooms as close to each other as possible. I got an email from the hotel confirming the request and on arrival we had been given interconnecting rooms.
The hotel is located next to the main railway station in Munich, and whilst it is not the most central location, it is close enough to walk into town (10-15 minutes). However being next to the station there is a constant line of waiting taxis and numerous public transport options too (U-bahn, bus, tram).
The staff are excellent. They speak good English and are friendly and helpful.
The public areas of the hotel and excellent too, with plenty of places to sit and relax. We used the bar area for drinks and lunch, which was expensive but very good quality. The spa area is also very good, with a very unusual pool. Even during busy times it did not feel overcrowded.
The bedrooms are of a high standard. We were in the wing facing the station, and whilst there was no view to speak of (the wall of the station) there was surprisingly little noise from the trains. The rooms have everything you would expect in a 5 star hotel, with robes / slippers, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, air conditioning, quality toiletries and a very comfy bed. The bathrooms are a puzzle of sliding glass doors that add to the interest.
Best of all is the breakfast, which has everything you could want- choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt, continental breakfast, eggs / omelettes cooked to order with a selection of cooked items and a large selection of breads & pastries. In particular, there was a Vegan section with a decent range of choices. I particularly enjoyed the antioxidant ginger shot and a glass of champagne. What a way to start the day.
All in all, this was a great hotel experience and I would strongly recommend staying at the Sofitel next time you are in Munich.

You know what to expect with the Sofitel product, and those expectations were met with respect to staff attitude, professionalism and friendliness. The rooms are well equipped, functional, clean and well serviced. Equally, the location is very central, adjacent to the central station and is a 15 minute walk to Marienplatz, Old Town. You can also take the u-Bahn (2 stops).
The reason I gave this hotel only 4 stars was the sleep quality. Not up to the usual high standard. The mattress in room 5261 needed replacing as it had lost its firmness and had a severe dip on one side of the mattress. The thick mattress cover didn’t solve the issue.
If you plan to hire a car for your stay, I was recommended to make use of the car park at the Aloft Hotel, which is directly opposite the Sofitel. The daily rate of 30 Euros is reasonable for city centre parking and is cheaper than the 43 Euros the Sofitel charge.
The garage is not as narrow as other underground car parks, is bright and airy, and the spaces are generous. There is a lift from level -1 to ground floor, which takes you to the lobby. You settle the ticket at the reception. Easy and convenient. Note that the car park has an exterior roller barrier, which automatically elevates when you approach it.
There are a lot of road works currently throughout the city centre so be prepared for some fun and detours.

If I decide to stay at a 5-star hotel in the city center and I am willing to pay the price of such a hotel, I think it is really bad to find yourself having to park the car independently and with difficulty, especially after having booked the parking well in advance; I would have expected at least a call/email to notify me of the situation. Furthermore, I would like to point out that the valet parking was not very kind and not at all helpful in improving my arrival at the hotel, so much so that after 30 minutes of searching for parking in the city I found my luggage still abandoned and unattended in the hotel lobby. 'inn.
During the evening I called the reception several times to get a pillow from their pillow menu with cherry stones and lavender; only after several calls did they reply that they would bring it to me immediately. The pillow in question arrived but it wasn't the correct one, it was a simple pillow.
As for breakfast, I found it very confusing and chaotic, with an exaggerated wait for scrambled eggs.
I also find very unusual the visit of a girl from house keeping who knocked on the door of my room for cleaning in the morning even before having had breakfast in the hotel and before my checkout which should have been the same day.
In conclusion, I noticed an unreasonably high degree of disorganization among all the hotel staff.

I came here with my partner for the weekend, and we were very impressed with our stay. The hotel is in a great location being a few minutes from the tram and the main railway station. Once inside the hotel we found the check in a little slow and some of your colleagues not very welcoming as others. We then made our way to the lifts and our bedroom and as we walked a porter walked past us and took the lift, he did not stop and went into the lift without checking to see if anyone else wanted to use the lift and we found this a little rude as this happened on more than one occasion and there was plenty of room for us all to fit in the lift.
Our bedroom was clean, airy and had all we wanted and needed such as a big bed, a bathtub, a toilet, and an excellent shower which had a rain shower as well as a traditional shower both with good hot water, and the complimentary toiletries were amazing and smelt fresh and yet we could hear people in the corridor and in bedrooms around ours including at bedtime. As for the TV this was OK but we both think if someone could print out a list of the channels people can choose to watch might help as to searching through over 200 channels can be frustrating and time consuming as there were many channels from different parts of the world.
Turning to breakfast this was simply fantastic as the majority of your colleagues were very attentive, kept busy and there was plenty of choice including for vegans. Whilst my partner and I are not vegan we have a friend who is and know much having a choice of vegan food is essential. Similarly we would like to give a shout out to your colleague Natalie as she was very friendly, spoke good English and made us feel more than welcome and some of the other people including the two women who took names and confirmed who could have breakfast and a fourth woman whose name we also don’t know either. The tables were also laid out well and very clean.
After breakfast and after we went to brush our teeth and take a few things we needed for our day out, we enlisted the help of Michael the concierge who was also polite, professional, and helpful by helping us get our bearings of the local area. However Michael did say he was the only member of the concierge team and when he is not on shift/available guests will need to ask other members of the team including those on the arrival desks and this can be busy given people arriving and checking in for accommodation.
We also borrowed an umbrella each and the man who is Italian at the door was very polite and friendly too least not with my partner given her late father was Italian. We also were able to leave our luggage after checking out of the hotel for a few hours before we made our way back to the main Airport.
All in all this hotel might be expensive for some but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would both recommend the hotel and come back again and hopefully we will do just that soon.

In these times, you really appreciate it when the microclimate and the attitude of the staff are right. Nice, helpful spirits everywhere, who unobtrusively make sure that the guest has everything they need. And how happy you make them when you simply address them by name. Service can be so simple :-) In that respect, it was a real feel-good weekend. The location right next to the train station is practical and interesting at the same time, the renovated historic building exudes industrial charm and coziness. You really don't lack anything in the rooms. The beds are so comfortable that it's hard to get up. Personally, I'm not a fan of this interior design habit of designing open bathrooms with glass doors and windows everywhere, and I like to have a bit of privacy. Even after almost 25 years of marriage. But the hotel itself can't do anything about that. The Japanese-style "experience toilet" can make up for that a little. High-quality shampoos and lotions also appeased me.
It's a shame that the turn-down service only did a complete and impressive job on the first evening. Every detail was perfect. Unfortunately, we were "forgotten" on the second night.
I found the breakfast buffet to be relatively "normal" for the classification; there was nothing unexpected or surprising. The large selection of bread was impressive, however. Perhaps our expectations were simply too high after a stay at the Sofitel Bangkok. I have rarely experienced a buffet like that. Nevertheless, it was an all-round successful stay.

The Sofitel in Munich is beautifully renovated. We stayed in a suite with 2 floors which was cozy with comfortable beds and nice amenities like a rain shower, bottled water in glass by the bedside, blackout shades as well as robes and slippers. Unfortunately, we did not know ahead of time that the spa was under renovation and would open sometime in late August which was disappointing. The main reason I would not stay here again is that it is next to the train station which is also under construction. This is just not pleasant. This part of Munich is dirty and crowded and if you have the option to look elsewhere, I would!

The excellence needs to be improved, given the category of the hotel and because I have known it years ago and it was much better, in the attention in room service to avoid misunderstandings and the presentation leaves a little to be desired, they should renew the mattresses that are sunken in the center of use, perhaps enable a second sink for the double rooms and seal the window that connects the bathroom with the room because light leaks in and makes it uncomfortable for the person who continues sleeping. Keep bedspreads separate if you order 2 beds. Now they overlap the sheets and it's a hassle to undo them. The quilts are too big and there is too much bedding left over. Adjust the bedding better when ordering individual items that are ordered separately for a reason. I miss some more hangers because in winter we wear more warm clothes and there is a lack of hangers. The pillows, of which there are 2, are too soft so although there is a starting offer, one should combine one soft and another less soft and of another format more similar to a pillow, not a cushion as there is now. The breakfast offering is moderately acceptable although the variety of pastries could be improved and yet for two days we found yogurts that were expired and one of them with mold and so we let the room staff know. This issue was not monitored and the next day they repeated expired yogurts from 10/30/23, putting them on November 3 and 4. As well as removing spoiled fruit that we also saw such as oranges. Coffee should also be offered in jugs of both coffee and milk because they serve very few coffees in small cups and half and half cold. It's hard to order a hot latte. Now it is only a machine, and it is served to you by a person in the room. The bathroom linens for a five-star hotel leave something to be desired. If they put towels that are already very used and frayed, it doesn't seem acceptable to me. And the bathrobes are poorly finished and I think there are, for a company like Sofitel, good offers to improve the quality of the bathrobes. Yes, it is because people take them, that they enable other mechanisms so that those of us who don't do it can enjoy what we pay for, which is not cheap.

My recent stay at this supposedly five-star hotel left me thoroughly unimpressed. Despite its grandiose reputation, the reality fell far short of expectations.
Upon entering the bathroom, I discovered the body wash dispenser was empty, indicating a lack of attention to detail in housekeeping. To make matters worse, the bidet was broken, adding to the overall feeling of neglect in the facilities.
But the disappointment didn't end there. Despite being "upgraded" to a "supreme" room, I found myself located on the ground floor, with a view that consisted solely of a construction wall. This absurd attempt to pass off a room with such a dismal outlook as an upgrade was insulting, to say the least.
To add insult to injury, the elevator was in a sorry state, barely functional and causing unnecessary delays and inconvenience.
While the hotel's location next to the main train station may be a saving grace for some, it hardly makes up for the myriad of issues encountered during my stay. Frankly, I've had better experiences at hotels with far fewer stars. It's clear that this establishment needs to prioritize fixing its facilities over sending canned responses to dissatisfied guests.
