I came here with my partner for the weekend, and we were very impressed with our stay. The hotel is in a great location being a few minutes from the tram and the main railway station. Once inside the hotel we found the check in a little slow and some of your colleagues not very welcoming as others. We then made our way to the lifts and our bedroom and as we walked a porter walked past us and took the lift, he did not stop and went into the lift without checking to see if anyone else wanted to use the lift and we found this a little rude as this happened on more than one occasion and there was plenty of room for us all to fit in the lift.

Our bedroom was clean, airy and had all we wanted and needed such as a big bed, a bathtub, a toilet, and an excellent shower which had a rain shower as well as a traditional shower both with good hot water, and the complimentary toiletries were amazing and smelt fresh and yet we could hear people in the corridor and in bedrooms around ours including at bedtime. As for the TV this was OK but we both think if someone could print out a list of the channels people can choose to watch might help as to searching through over 200 channels can be frustrating and time consuming as there were many channels from different parts of the world.

Turning to breakfast this was simply fantastic as the majority of your colleagues were very attentive, kept busy and there was plenty of choice including for vegans. Whilst my partner and I are not vegan we have a friend who is and know much having a choice of vegan food is essential. Similarly we would like to give a shout out to your colleague Natalie as she was very friendly, spoke good English and made us feel more than welcome and some of the other people including the two women who took names and confirmed who could have breakfast and a fourth woman whose name we also don’t know either. The tables were also laid out well and very clean.

After breakfast and after we went to brush our teeth and take a few things we needed for our day out, we enlisted the help of Michael the concierge who was also polite, professional, and helpful by helping us get our bearings of the local area. However Michael did say he was the only member of the concierge team and when he is not on shift/available guests will need to ask other members of the team including those on the arrival desks and this can be busy given people arriving and checking in for accommodation.

We also borrowed an umbrella each and the man who is Italian at the door was very polite and friendly too least not with my partner given her late father was Italian. We also were able to leave our luggage after checking out of the hotel for a few hours before we made our way back to the main Airport.

All in all this hotel might be expensive for some but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would both recommend the hotel and come back again and hopefully we will do just that soon.

I stayed at this hotel for a conference. It is very centrally located right next to the train station and has good amenities.

The room is well-equipped with a nespresso machine, bottled water and ample seating and desk space. There is no bathtub, but the walk-in waterfall shower is very spacious. The bathroom itself if very roomy but the lighting is not great, which isn't ideal for doing makeup. Room was very quiet with little disturbance from other rooms or outside.

The beds are extremely warm, as they have feather mattress toppers as well as feather duvets. I had to remove the mattress topper during the night because it was far too much.

The breakfast spread is quite good with many options and good service.

Our experience in this hotel was superb.. the rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious and very comfortable.
The staff were very friendly, very professional and very helpful. Everyone from the front desk to Michael the concierge to the bell hops at the entrance to the housekeeping staff were super friendly and hospitable.
The modern design of the hotel and the warm aroma that is strongly present all around the hotel gives it a very distinctive feel.
The complimentary macarons upon arrival were delectable !
The bar on the ground floor with its outdoor terrace that overlooks the street was our go to spot for many nights.
The location is excellent, it was right next to the central station and less than a ten minute walk to Marienplatz.
I just have a few comments to uplift the experience to five stars.
1. Not all rooms have the same amenities .. our friends got two rooms with a built in smart toilet bidet, and we didn’t have one . This is something that is essential to us and found not having a bidet or atleast a bidet hose inconvenient. Additionally not having a bin in the actual toilet room doesn’t make sense . The bin is small and built in the dresser in the common area outside the toilet . Some rooms had complimentary umbrellas and others didn’t .

2. We didn’t take breakfast with our package when we booked , it was 45 euros per person so we decided to make the decision to add it on when we arrive after taking a look at the buffet and seeing if it’s worth it. The breakfast buffet was limited and was not worth 45 euros per person especially that we are a family of 5. We would’ve payed the amount if we found that It had so much variety , it would’ve been more convenient for us to do so.

3. It would’ve been great if the hotel had a proper swimming pool even if it was indoors. On many days it was rainy and the children would’ve enjoyed a nice indoor swim . I understand that having an outdoor swimming pool might not be the best investment given the weather in Munich .. Their is a small pool in the spa but it’s more for adults who want to relax in a serene environment. Maybe a children recreational room would be a good idea too . There’s not much for kids to do in this hotel.

Other than that the hotel is exquisite and I would definitely visit again and recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here two nights and here are some quick highlights that hopefully you might find helpful.

Front desk and guest relations are superb. We’re very grateful with what Mr Nicolaus Jopersberger has done in welcoming us as a silver member and giving us an upgrade to the room (#840) as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Concierge and housekeeping could certainly have room for improvement. The usual bonjour Madam et Monsieur and warm smiles of Sofitel’s concierge that you can find elsewhere were missing. Housekeeping missed few routines, e.g replacing a hand towel, which was still acceptable.

Room that we stayed in was superb. I’d say uniquely Sofitel. We stayed in a loft.

Breakfast was a total let down. The greeter was courteous but the rest of the staff, including the duty manager in my opinion certainly have room for improvement. Here’s why, we were not offered tea or coffee. Our plates were not cleaned from our table at all during the breakfast so I had to keep asking for it and my wife actually went back and forth herself to clear the plates away. The staff at the omelette station was rude, she rudely asked me to open the waffle maker that was beeping because the person who used it before me left it closed. She thought it was me, I hadn’t even touched it?!

My wife had similar issue when the spoon to scoop out the croissant pudding was gone and she had to make do with a thong and the omelette lady just stood there watching and not offering any help. And last but not least the manager was not courteous at all when he offered me to open a bottle of mineral water.

All in all, it would’ve been a great stay if we didn’t go for breakfast. It is not worth it for €40 per person.

I would stay again but will never go for the breakfast.

We originally booked this hotel in 2020 but due to the pandemic, we had to cancel. The hotel was not able to give us a refund but instead offered a voucher which we were told can be used within the next year. In 2021, COVID cases have not improved much, so we had to cancel again. The hotel was very gracious in offering another year extension. Their location is in great proximity to the train station (literally walking distance!). We love the ambience and the sophistication of the hotel layout. The room was spacious and they offered a good variety of breakfast buffet options. We were not able to dine in their restaurant for lunch or dinner because we were told that they were short-staffed and had to keep the restaurant closed. The front desk staff were all very nice. We had to ask for a box of tissues one time and asked the front desk staff if someone can drop it off in our room while we go out to eat dinner. When we arrived 2 hours after, it was still not replaced. We called every extension and for some reason, no one was picking up. When the room service desk picked up, we think they misunderstood and thought that we were complaining about it and asked us to complain to management. We just wanted a box of tissues. They did immediately provided our request along with 2 extra rolls of toilet paper (which we didn't ask for or need). We figured, it might just be a language miscommunication or staff are just stressed due to staffing issues. I still think overall, they provided good customer service to us.

Bonjour, thank you very much for your positive and constructive feedback. I'll forward this to our staff immediately. It is always nice when our guests confirm what we work towards every day: to offer you an unforgettable stay. On the other hand, please allow me to express my sincerest apologies that our housekeeping team did not refill the tissues and that we were not correctly communicating internally. What you experienced did not meet our own high standards and I will speak to our team about this points in order to work on it together. I hope to welcome you back again soon. Great hotel in an ideal location close to transport and city center with excellent staff. Rooms are gorgeous, have the best showers of any hotel I know like a rainstorm in a giant cave, and beds you sink into hibernation like a bear in winter. Bravo!

They brand themselves as a superior five star hotel but I found this hotel to be more of a four star hotel.

An experienced leisure traveller who often stays in good five star hotels will immediately notice that this hotel is on an auto pilot mode. The management is nowhere to be seen, there is no attention to details and basic 5 star standards do not apply across their service outlets.

Breakfast is a bit chaotic and the quality of food is not a five star level. They serve buffet breakfast at a mezzanine area which has no ambience. You arrive there through a side staircase. They provide only dessert plates (small plates) at the buffet because, as per the restaurant supervisor lady, a lot of guests are on a diet. This is the first time I come across to such breakfast policy.

Making an inquiry at the reception, guests relations and concierge is a frustrating process because their internal communications system is problematic. It is important that you always double check with them and ask for written confirmation.

On one occasion I asked them to stop doing vacuum cleaning of the carpet at around 6:30 in the morning outside my room. They showed no respect and continued doing it.

Also, we found our room to be very dusty and not properly cleaned and sanitized.

This hotel might be ok for business travelers on very short stays but for experienced leisure travellers this hotel might not be suitable for their holiday needs.

Stayed here pre Covid with my entire family (wife and 3 children). The hotel itself is very nice, from the ease of check in, facilities and the rooms. The hotel at the time stocked Hermes bath and shower accessories which was a nice welcome touch, and whilst the rooms were not massive they were very adequate and never felt small. Staff were very attentive and the gym and pool was very welcome after a long stay. The only slight downside is location, being located next to the train station is not noisy but being a train station means there are sometimes unsavoury characters around when walking from the hotel to the nearby sights, with the nearest central sights being 10-15min walk away.

We stayed for three nights at the Sofitel in Munich. It is a great hotel befitting it's 5 star rating.

Even before arrival the service was good. We were a party of 4 and I requested 2 rooms as close to each other as possible. I got an email from the hotel confirming the request and on arrival we had been given interconnecting rooms.

The hotel is located next to the main railway station in Munich, and whilst it is not the most central location, it is close enough to walk into town (10-15 minutes). However being next to the station there is a constant line of waiting taxis and numerous public transport options too (U-bahn, bus, tram).

The staff are excellent. They speak good English and are friendly and helpful.

The public areas of the hotel and excellent too, with plenty of places to sit and relax. We used the bar area for drinks and lunch, which was expensive but very good quality. The spa area is also very good, with a very unusual pool. Even during busy times it did not feel overcrowded.

The bedrooms are of a high standard. We were in the wing facing the station, and whilst there was no view to speak of (the wall of the station) there was surprisingly little noise from the trains. The rooms have everything you would expect in a 5 star hotel, with robes / slippers, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, air conditioning, quality toiletries and a very comfy bed. The bathrooms are a puzzle of sliding glass doors that add to the interest.

Best of all is the breakfast, which has everything you could want- choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt, continental breakfast, eggs / omelettes cooked to order with a selection of cooked items and a large selection of breads & pastries. In particular, there was a Vegan section with a decent range of choices. I particularly enjoyed the antioxidant ginger shot and a glass of champagne. What a way to start the day.

All in all, this was a great hotel experience and I would strongly recommend staying at the Sofitel next time you are in Munich.

Bed: 5,5/10

We staid at this hotel at the end of June 2020, so most of the service at the Hotel was closed. We had planed to order Dinner from room service, but as we checked in around 4 pm we were not ready to order Dinner at that time so we ordered a Club Sandwich to share. That was a lucky chois as we could due to that escape ordering dinner. The Sandwich was really terrible. Clearly fried in old frying oil. When we complained to the reception, they apologized and told us that due to the Covid-19 only trainees were in the Kitchen. I find that an unacceptable reasoning, as a they were still a five star hotel in spite of the Covid-19. That might excuse limiting the service, but not the quality. The room was dark and not very clean and there were water damaging very clear on one of the walls of the room and the bed was terrible. The possible thing about this hotel was the reception staff and waiters. They were at all times very polite, positive and helpful
