My family of 3 adults stayed in a suite on the top floor. The room was a bit awkward and uncomfortable because of its attic type room with slanted ceilings and a spiral staircase up to the bedroom and bathroom. The kitchenette and dining table came in handy for preparing a simple breakfast. The location cannot be beat, a 5 minute walk to Marienplatz and the shopping streets with Rewe, a supermarket 2 blocks away. We appreciate the friendly staff and the serene garden. I would stay again but would request for a room without slanted ceilings because we all kept banging our heads !

Hotel Maximilian is conveniently located (just a block from Hofbrauhaus), and although there is construction in the area, we enjoyed a quiet stay. It looks like construction in front will be going on for some time, so you might want to check out the status of that before booking. Thankfully, the construction is during daytime hours only. The hotel itself is quite lovely, with a particularly spacious and peaceful courtyard. Housekeeping did a wonderful job each day we were there, but there seemed to be a peculiar chemical odor in the hallway -- perhaps from their choice of cleaning solutions. We did not smell it in our room, however, so that was fine. We encountered a very helpful young man at the desk, Yilmaz Karasu, who helped us get settled into our room, helped us overcome our initial check-in challenges, and was always willing to help us figure out transit and other questions we had. Like many hotels in Europe, the air conditioning is not what we expect in the U.S., so be mindful of that when traveling in the hotter months.

Dear Mark E, Thank you so much for taking your time to write this detailed review about your stay at the Maximilian Munich. It was our great pleasure having you as our guests. I am very pleased to read that you were satisfied with the hotel, its location and our services, expecially Mr. Karasu - our night mananger. The construction in front of the hotel will be going on for the next 2-3 years. A room facing our beautiful garden ist therefore a better choice at the moment. We certainly hope to be your hotel of choice should your travels bring you back to Munichin the future. Sincerely Yours Eva Kubon & Team

My wife and I stayed at Maximilian in early December 2019 to visit Christmas Markets. We liked everything about the Hotel. First, the location is excellent. It is convenient to all of the popular Munich sites - only a few blocks away from Hofbrauhaus, Marienplatz, transportation, etc. - but yet is located in a quiet part of town. Convenient and quiet. The staff were outstanding. They went out of their way to invite us to a special evening appreciation event in the courtyard featuring wine and a cozy fire and they were especially helpful in helping us arrange to ship some Christmas ornaments back to the US without breaking the bank. Last, the room was very nice and quiet with a very comfortable bed, a large bathroom, a small kitchenette and a small outdoor balcony that overlooked the courtyard. We love Munich and we will absolutely, 100% select Maximilian for our next stay.

Stayed there 3 nights in the refurbished building. Room modern, but a bit small. All was modern but, as it is a serviced apartment facility, and you are supposed to cook your breakfast and with no dishwasher in the room, one will expect the service to do the dishes as they clean the room . But, was told by the manageress of service “ it is a gray area, but you can amend it with some cash….”. I do not think it is appropriate.
As said, the hotel is very nice, bed is comfortable, clean, staff are nice. Great location in the centre of Munich . Only this gray area has to be resolved.

There were 5 of us with 2 rooms/apt.
We had a Garden Studio (2 adults) and City Suite (3 adults) for 4 nights
Garden Studio: 4th floor and no view of any garden, just construction and buildings. Apt. was in a separate building several doors down from main lobby entrance. The toilet ran for two nights and eventually fixed, sink did not drain properly and stopper eventually not working, had to be repaired and air conditioning never cooled off the room.
City View: Major construction across the street with a hugh fence around it. However, construction noises began early in the morning and impossible to sleep after 8 a.m.
Staff was friendly. The location of the two rooms was most undesirable. They tried to get our rooms close together which we appreciated, but we made the reservation so far in advance, I would have thought a better location was possible, especially when paying over 800 E for the two rooms each night.

Dear Trip225681, Thank you very much for taking your time to write this review. We are very sorry to read that your stay was not up to your expectations. It is true that currently there are many constructions in the city of Munich and around the hotel. We are also sorry for the inconveniece of a running toilet and the sink that did not drain properly. We certainly hope you will consider Maximilian Munich again for your next travel to Munich - please ask for rooms on a lower level in the garden / town house upon reservation. Again, thank you for your review - it would be our pleasure to welcome you back any time. Kindest regards, Eva Kubon

My parents were staying in the city for medical treatment, after weeks of reservation emails and setting all details straight, at the check-in we see the main entrance is literally construction toilets and construction works, which we were not advised of, and our welcoming comment was that hey had to increased the arranged nightly rate claiming there must have been a mistake, we gave them the benefit of the doubt so we stayed, but usually hotels give you discounts when their main entrance is a construction site, and they usually don't allow the construction toilets in their main entrance. This check-in experience felt very disrespectful and kind of like a very low class cheap move.

After a week my father had a medical crisis and we had to leave before the planned date, because of the check-in experience I had the feeling that the man in the lobby would try to charge because of early departure, even taking into account that we're in the middle of a pandemic where more than 80% of the hotel is empty and government is paying 70% of their salaries, so I told my parents that this is how they will win or lose a client and their internet reputation. Effectively, without even asking why are we leaving or even offering a taxi service to the airport (which they never did), the first and only comment was that there would probably be a penalty charge, but he doesn't know how much it is, and that they will just charge it automatically to the registered credit card. The next day they charged over 500 Euros of penalty, and not even a taxi service was offered for my parents. We will never stay at this hotel again.

Dear adislac07, Thank you for taking your time to write this review on your parents' stay at the Maximilian Munich. We are very sorry, that your parents were disturbed by the construction materials in front of our hotel and the two construction toilets, located in front of the neighbors' house. There is a lot of construction work going on opposite the hotel and we are also currently renovating our rooms. Space in Munich's old town is very limited. The rate we charged for the Garden Suite was reduced by 30% - We are very sorry that the check-in experience felt disrespectful. The departure of your parents was suddenly 5 weeks prior to the confirmed departure date. We decided to charge you for 2 nights, according to our cancellation policy. Again, we are sorry, that my colleague did not offer a transfer to the airport. The pandemic crisis hit us and the whole hotel industry very hard and we are going through very difficult times. Still, my team and I try very hard every day to create - with all the restrictions- special moments for our guests. Unfortunately, in the case of your parents we failed to do so. I am extremely sorry. Should you decide to give us a second chance, please send me an e-mail e.kubon@maximilian-munich.com and I will personally make sure, that your parents receive the friendliness and the service we usually provide. Sincerely Yours, Eva Kubon

Traveled to Munich to watch the Bucs beat the Seahawks. My group had 4 rooms at Maximilian. Fantastic. No complaints. We were especially impressed by Lukas at the front desk who always had tourism advise and was able to book train transportation on the DB and help us with the mass transit in Munich. Only tip for travelers, when you go into your room, there is a switch to turn on the power in your room/suite. It took me a few minutes to figure out why the lights didn’t work. Had a laugh to myself when I figured it out.

We had a one bedroom apartment which was pretty comfortable, and reasonably spacious for our short 2 day stay. The location is very central but it still feels secluded, especially with the lovely balcony overlooking the garden.
The main downsides which are temporary are the many construction works occurring just outside of the main entrance. But it seems Munich is under a lot of development and construction is common around the city as it develops. Also, the rooms/hotel is quite outdated with quite ugly carpets and curtains but that’s easily fixable.
Overall, we enjoyed our short stay!

Dear DPittas, thank you very much for your review. It is very nice to know that you enjoyed staying with us overall. It is true that there are many constructions in the entire city at the moment and a big one just opposite the hotel. There are a number of beautiful and fully renovated rooms in our garden and town houses - and they are a lot more quiet as well. the hotel is less than half filled. Why are they putting us in a room next to where the neighbours celebrate a party until 3 at night?
At the far end from elevators, stairs / reception does not have feeling for couples looking for decent night rest.
