We were in Munich for only night but loved this place near the rail station. Reasonably priced. Great location within walking distance to major sights. Helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast - one of the best in our European travels.

Booked this hotel namely for its location within the Old Town Alstadt and proximity to Marienplatz, since this is our first visit to Munich, and we decided to spend a little more on the Slightly bigger Comfort Room. What a gem this hotel turned out to be!

The location was just a 5 minute walk from the Marienplatz station, and it was so convenient to walk to the sights within Marienplatz including St Peter’s Cathedral, Viktualienmarkt, Residenz Museum, the New Town Hall with its famous Glockenspiel, the various nearby breweries including the well known Hofbräuhaus München beer hall frequented by tourists... just to name a few.

The continental breakfast buffet (6:30-10am) was included in the hotel rate and was substantial enough for us to not feel the hunger pangs till after 2pm...

The free minibar was replenished daily with a couple of beers, bottled Apple juice and coke as well as 2 bottles of mineral water - even though the tap water is potable.

Location and service was good; our 6th floor comfort room was spacious enough and well... comfortable, albeit oddly shaped with its separate living suite and bedroom under slanting walls and alcoves (like staying in an attic), probably owing to the building and roof shape of this 7th storey building. Basic superior lodging but a gem indeed!

The hotel is very reasonably priced, suitable for the traveller on a budget, but nevertheless has all the basics a traveller requires. The rooms are clean and functional. I particularly appreciated the new bench-style design along the wall in the room, where you could conveniently place both suitcases. This is a great invention that most luxury hotels should copy! The hotel provides an excellent buffet breakfast. All the staff, from the front office to the cleaning staff to the restaurant staff, were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, just a five to ten minute walk from the Marienplatz, being the main square in old Munich. There are numerous sites, museums, art galleries, restaurants, and beer halls all within walking distance. One especially -appreciated perk is the two free beers provided in the room's minibar fridge! This was my fourth time visiting the Hotel Mercure Munich Altstadt, and I will certainly return to it on my next visit to Munich.

Although it’s a bit hard to find, this hotel is in an excellent location. As in all Accor hotel, the rooms are clean, the staff vey courteous and helpful. Even though it’s downtown, the roms are very quiet, absolutely no street noise.
The only issue we had is that it had no internet when we were there. The staff could not tell us when it would be fixed so they immediately offered to put us up in another Mercure. The other Mercure was more luxurious but the location was not as convenient at the Mercure Altsadt.

Had two reservations - one for our first week in Munich and the other for our one night return from Oberammergau before flying home. Our full week stay was a lovely double room with large tv and complimentary refrigerated beverages. Rooms were quickly made up each day and the staff was delightfully friendly and helpful. Rooms have small personal safes, refrigerators, room darkening curtains and mechanical shades. Loved the hardwood-style floors (no carpet!) for added cleanliness. The location is less than a block from the pedestrian plaza leading to either Marienplatz or Karlplatz with easy access to buses, subway and trams. (Coming from the plaza, just turn down the short street by Five Guys Burgers and you will see the hotel). It is on the corner of 2 intersecting one-way streets so traffic going past the hotel can sometimes be loud or annoying in the middle of the night.
Our return stay for one night found us in a somewhat smaller room with smaller tv but
the same level of cleanliness and comfort.
An added bonus is the lovely buffet breakfast with a wide assortment of fresh fruit, cereals, breads, croissants, rolls, pastries, eggs, meats and cheeses. Beverages included fresh juices, coffee and tea and we were invited to visit the dining room later in the afternoon if we wanted an extra cup. It was always a pleasure to see our breakfast hostess each morning who always had a smile (despite her mask) and a nice word to send us on our way. All in all, a very good experience.

I complained about the shower in the bathroom which was not working properly. The water temperature was hot then cold, hot, cold, hot, cold,... and taking a shower is impossible. The reception was not helpful at all and insisted that nothing can be done until tomorrow but no action was taken the next day.
My booking was for two rooms (4 adults) and I asked for a late checkout at 1pm instead of 12 noon. On checking out, I was told in a rudely by the receptionist that I did not ask for late check out for 2 rooms. This may be a small misunderstanding but she made it sound like I have caused a big inconvenience.
I will not stay in the hotel again in my next trip to Munich and do not recommend it to my colleagues.

The hotel is super well located at Marienplatz, can’t emphasise this enough since there is so much walking to be done in the area. Really well provided rooms, safe, free mini bar (beer, water, etc.) replenished daily, etc. Breakfast was the best we had in Germany on our 14 day trip even though its monotonous but there were plenty options. There is a parking garage close by (EUR15 for the day) or if you can find one on the street you can use the online app to pay for it.

We walked around for 3days discovering nooks and crannies of the area, there are many churches (we went to 3 of them but I’m sure there were more), Munich residence and the gardens, shopping at luxury stores on maximilianstrasse, etc. It’s one of the best old towns to discover.

Germans aren’t a friendly bunch especially in the city even at restaurants. If you want nice conversations with locals or warm fuzzy feelings go to Italy, if you want well laid out meals and food variety go to France. In Germany you get amazing pork and great beer but that’s it. A wonderful place to spend a vacation, driving around is convenient and washrooms everywhere are clean. Personally really liked Alpine route as the landscape is wonderful, also Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Wurzburg. Black Forest was a bit of disappointment for me but maybe it’s better in winters. There is enough to do on Alpine route and Black Forest did not offer anything different, infact the towns (Freiburg and Baden-Baden) and industries we saw along the route just put me off since it did not feel like countryside. But if you do end up there must go to mummelsee lake and get a farm stay (very cheap but also popular so you’ll have to book in advance) in the forest not a hotel in the towns.

Local sim: at the airport and mobile shops the sim card with data was an average of EUR 40 but at store called “Saturn” at Marienplatz we got it for EUR1 (yes one EUR) which was originally for EUR9 since there was some offer. Be careful with this.

Stayed one night for a quick trip to Munich.

Well located, between the train station and city center. Easily walkable. Restaurants and shopping in the close vicinity.

Free mini bar was fairly limited. I assumed it meant drinks and snacks, only drinks. Which is still nice, but not what I expected.

Comfortable room. Decent sized. Toiletries in shower, at check in I was also able to request additional items (like lotion).

Breakfast buffet was a combination of traditional cold European (cold cuts, cheese) and some hot dishes. The coffee was also available 24-7.

Wifi was sufficiently strong. TV with European channels.

During my visit, COVID precautions were in force. They checked vaccination status at check in. Masks required in the hotel. For the stairs, on the levels that there were two sets, one was limited to going down and one going up. Elevator was also supposed to be limited to same-room groups, though I never ran into another person using the elevator at the same time so did not have to deal with this.

Well-located, clean, and well-run hotel near public transit and within walking distance of a number of key sites. The breakfast has a lot of items to choose from and the breakfast room is pleasant. Very professional staff. The rooms are small and simple, and the overall vibe is traditional. There is no bar, and the small lobby consists of a few benches and a vending machine. There is a small refrigerator in the room stocked with free beer, soda, and water. Not much street noise, but housekeeping does some very assertive hallway vacuuming starting right at 8am. A very solid, if slightly unsexy choice.

although I am the member it was first time staying at this hotel and found quite nice for three days. first of all easy to reach Marianpltaz few meters away from the hotel shopping street I mean high street is on few steps away .
Although i have booked comfort room which supposed to reasonably large enough for a commfort sleep , yes room was spreated in two part living and sleeping but the problem was the bed itself queen size bed for a couple was so small ,squezy and i found difuculty in sleeping.
variety of food at breakfast was incredibly nice even you may hardly find at five star

Check with hotel to see if they are still offering the unlimited Germany-wide transportation pass for buses, trams, trains, metrorail, etc. We visited in June and paid 9 euros pp good on all transit for the entire month!!! There is a train that will bring you directly to and from the airport; you can use the nearby Marienplatz station or the one near the fountain.

Yes, there is a small wheelchair ramp in the front of hotel to get in. Inside the hotel has two not so big elevators in service. However to go to breakfast area can only use stairs, it maybe a challenge .
