Lovely little hotel in quiet upmarket
area near Lehel station but walking distance to everything . The greeting was friendly and efficient. Our room (37) was small but well equipped although some people might find the numerous mirrors a bit disconcerting! The bathroom was also very small . The bed was comfortable. The soundproofing is poor though. The bonus was a lovely enclosed glass sitting area /balcony overlooking the beautiful terrace. Breakfast is a real treat served at the table which is adorned with a proper white tablecloth , a lit candle , silver plated coffee pot and pretty floral china . The breakfast is presented in a 3 tier sandwich stand! The usual stuff - but all very good . The reception and dining areas are beautiful- decorated in gold , white, marble and gorgeous flowers and plants . The terrace outside is beautiful too. The service is impeccable. Apart from the small bedroom & bathroom this hotel is excellent.

Exactly what one wants when one travels internationally:quiet, small, boutique hotel but located within walking distance to so many sights one wants to visit when in Munich, and a staff at the hotel who also then ensure that your stay will be the best possible. We were given a beautiful room that did have a small enclosed balcony overlooking the garden. The breakfast provided was served in a beautiful courtyard garden, and nicely done. The staff, however, were the gem of this hotel as everyone at their front desk helped us with all needs such as dinner reservations, sight-seeing recommendations, and even issues with Covid testing issues which were required at the time. Close by the hotel there were many cute restaurants including their restaurant which we did not avail ourselves of. I am personally so happy I chose this hotel from all the ones in Munich! Thank you staff!

I am travelling to Germany at least once a year to visit family. On my way back to Canada I like to stay in Munich for one or two nights. I have been looking for my personal „favourite hotel in Munich“ for several years now; I stayed at Vier Jahreszeiten, at the Munich Palace Hotel, the Westin, the Sofitel etc…

Finally I found my gem and I plan to return every time now I am in Germany.

The Hotel Opera in Munich is not the most glamorous or luxurious hotel. It is a very pretty Boutique Hotel with understated luxurious ambience and character in the heart of Munich.

The room with its own little vintage winter garden is tiny, but truly unique and simply beautiful. I very much appreciated that hotel staff greets you by name every time I even came close to the front desk.

The breakfast is simple but very good and beautifully presented. I can’t wait to be there during the summertime when breakfast is served in this idyllic and beautiful inner courtyard.

The location is spectacular, nestled in probably the most picturesque corner of Lehel. The street is calm, but it is only a couple of steps away from Maximilianstrasse, the Opera house and Marienplatz.

I am happy I found this little precious hotel and I can’t wait to return in the near future.

This is a charming hotel in a quiet area but very conveniently situated. The hotel's own restaurant is 2 minutes away and is very good. Our bedroom was very comfortable. If there was a downside it was the size of the shower room, but the design is quite ingenious. There are 2 bathroom areas, one on each side of the entrance to the room. They can be connected and made private by opening the sliding doors to each and shutting the louvred doors to the bedroom area for complete privacy. Also, both small areas are completely mirrored so they feel much bigger.
The decor of the reception areas is traditional and lovely. Breakfast was very stylish and lovely in the courtyard. The staff were delightful. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Response from Malte Wiedemeyer, Geschäftsführer at Hotel Opera
Responded 11 Oct 2022
Dear Leila D, We thank you for taking the time to rate your stay with us. We are delighted by your positive feedback, which motivates our team. We are also glad that you liked our unique decor and that you enjoyed the breakfast. The size of the shower room is kept cozy, because of the history of our old building, which goes all the way back to 1898. Therefore we are not able to optimize the measurements of our bathrooms. In conclusion we would be truly flattered to welcome you again. Nice greetings from munich

This hotel was much more than I’ve expected. I felt myself living in a very elegant 1940’s period which then everything was so tasteful and refined. Team was very hospitable and friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. It is very near only 10 minutes walk to the Marienplatz and the way you are walking is Maximillian Street which is the main street having very fine shops.

The hotel is located on a quiet side street, a short distance to the metro and tram. The hotel building is lovely and the hotel very clean. Our room was quite spacious, but the bathroom was very small and the shower hopelessly old-fashioned. The bathroom had mirrors on every wall, we didn't like that. The bed was too hard for our taste, we slept badly. TV from the early 2000s, so satellite channels were not available. The breakfast was lovely, the white tablecloths and table service made the experience pleasant and peaceful.

Munich is a large city. Reaching a hotel within 10 min by using underground, the location is fairy good. Moreover, the hotel is located in a surprisingly quiet area, where you can find several decent restaurants, The breakfast is not offered in a buffet style, so the variety is rather limited. The hotel staff is attentive and friendly. Rooms seem to be shabby and shower rooms are very small.

Cannot say enough wonderful things about Hotel Opera. Perfect location on a quiet street about a ten minute walk from Marienplatz. Room and amenities were top notch with a lovely welcome box of chocolates and a large gingerbread heart waiting for us in our room. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a complete German style assortment of charcuterie, cheeses, smoked salmon, breads, yogurts and eggs to order. Thank you Hotel Opera!

Pros: Beautiful lobby, garden breakfast area, friendly staff and tasteful rooms with
old world classic charm. Excellent location and close to transportation.

Cons: Tasteful room that is in dire need of a paint job and noticeable stains on furniture. Instead of chic, makes it shabby chic. Yet, the common areas are all
clean and painted. Also, no A/C and it happened to be hot this June.

I would live to give hotel 4 stars...but a little too funky for that....

We were charged a lot because of a dental convention in town...value not good that week.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at the Hotel Opera in Munich. It is a quiet and lovely hotel that is in close proximity to subway lines and to all the major tourist attractions in Munich.

We were able to take the subway from the airport directly to the hotel. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The morning breakfasts were ample and delicious and readied us for full days of sightseeing.

Should I have the pleasure of returning to Munich I would not hesitate to stay here again. I enthusiastically recommend Hotel Opera to any traveler!

Our room did not but I bet if you requested one, someone would bring them to your room. However, it's the type of place where they would likely offer to take the garment and iron it for you and then you'd have to decide whether to accept or refuse the offer.

Dear Jzippin, Thank you very much for your question. We do not offer refrigerators in our rooms, as our guests prefer personal service. Our small but exclusive Boutique Hotel offers a 24h room-service for cool and hot drinks. With best regards Malte Wiedemeyer / General Manager

Hello Pat! The Hotel Opéra is located only 2 km from the central station where you arrive. You either can comfortably take a taxi, which will take approximately 10 minutes and will cost you approximately 15 €. As an alternative you can take public transportation for about 2,50 € per Person. The metro line 4 and 5 connect the hotel to the Hauptbahnhof in just 3 stops. The metro station "Lehel" is 100 meters from the hotel. When you get off the station "Lehel" please head towars St. Anna Strasse. We are looking forward to welcoming you soon! Best regards Susanne Veit - Assistant to the General Manager
